3 Different Purses with Zaful

I’ve never been someone who wanted the expensive name brand purses. Sometimes, I do wonder why I don’t want them, since many women love them so much. But if you’re like me in this matter, then you’ll love the fact that you can shop at some of the online stores, and take home a great purse very inexpensively!

Thanks to Zaful, we were gifted these purses for us to review. Their website, however, is not just about purses. They have everything from women’s clothing to beach towels! I happened to pick out these bags only because we haven’t showcased this item in awhile. They are truly a great deal as they are all under $22. When ordering this kind of item online, I think it’s important to check the measurements given. I always take a piece of paper and compare what size the purse would be to that paper! And even thought their prices are quite low, the company has extended a 15% off code to my readers. Use the code  ZFCJ15 to enjoy this savings until the end of the year 2016!

I admit that I don’t normally show purses with our outfits. It really depends if you are one who “wears” your purse or just “carries” it, I guess. Not that I really know what the difference is, but Jo-Lynne gave me an idea. She said that if the purse will be with you while you’re out and about, then you’re wearing it, and should think about how it goes with your outfit. The example here would be if you were going shopping. You would have your purse with you the entire time. Thus it’d be great if it looks like part of your ensemble.

But if you’re only taking your purse from point A to point B, so it’s not part of your look, then it may not matter how it looks. The example here would be if you have your purse with you in order to get to work. But once you’re at work, it sits under your desk, then it’s not part of your overall look!

Of course, since I’m not an expert at this purse thing, you could tell me anything different and I wouldn’t disagree with you. The three of us did style handbags about a year ago (here, here & here). I tried to show 3 different outfits with the same purse in those past posts.

Outfits: So for our Zaful bags, I showed 2 different ways I thought to “wear” your purse. One way is so that the purse would be a contrasting item. The other way is to pair it with items in your outfit of the same color so it would basically match.

Jodie’s (50’s) Contrasting Outfit: I chose this light blue purse because I think the shape is quite fun. It is the smallest of all three of our purses. I certainly wouldn’t take it for an all day shopping trip, but it’d be perfect for date night!

This purse has a longer strap that can be removed. You’ll see the long strap in the next outfit photos!

I tried to showcase how the purse would look against a darker outfit! I even went with lighter earrings & shoes to keep the accessories somewhat the same!

Jodie’s (50’s) Matching Outfit: When I was working, I always carried a larger bag, that had my purse inside it! Thus I needed a smaller purse! So this size would have been perfect for that scenario.

It hangs right at my hip, once I adjusted the strap to it’s shortest position.

I could fit my entire wallet and my small makeup bag in it just fine!

Nancy’s (60’s) Contrasting Outfit: Nancy chose the olive green straw purse. I have been seeing a lot of olive green lately in the stores and on other bloggers! This purse does come in other colors as well. And even though I usually think of straw as a summer material, I think this color lends itself to the cooler months.

This purse has two brown straps. The longer one can be removed, and the short two straps are attached.

I picked the red dress as her outfit so the purse would contrast against it. Since it’s now becoming cooler outside, I added a red t-shirt under the dress.

Nancy’s (60’s) Matching Outfit: Here’s the inside of the purse, if that’s important to your selection. There are two pockets on this side, and another larger one on the other side.

The purse does have a zipper to close it along the top. Considering how inexpensive it is, the zipper seems pretty hardy!

I matched Nancy’s purse to an olive green jacket that she’s had for ages! It’s a good sized purse, but I don’t think it overwhelms Nancy.

Charlotte’s (70’s) Contrasting Outfit: Mom chose the multicolored purse. It does come in a couple of solid colors also if you like the shape but not the brightness of the patchwork.

This purse has a gold chain as a strap. The wonderful thing is they can be pulled together to shorten it which is how mom is holding it here.

I always love white clothing items in any season, and then adding this purse along with the neck scarf can add the pop of color you need!

Charlotte’s (70’s) Matching Outfit: There’s so many colors in this bag, that I wanted to “match” it to many of them. Thus I picked a multi colored striped shirt from mom’s closet. Since it was short sleeve, we layered another shirt underneath it!

Here’s the strap when it’s pulled longer. You can see the other part of the chain laying on the top flap portion of the purse. It hangs to a nice length this way.

I would almost consider this a clutch purse except for the fact that it’s pretty roomy inside. My mom was able to fit her large wallet in there with her phone on the side of it.

All very cute purses and pretty outfits. The purses are great accents both as a contrast or as a match. You look smashing in your dress. Nancy’s outfits are my favorite. She looks great in both the red (like the T underneath) and the olive green.

    • I never used to think about my purse as part of my outfit!! Now, it’s super fun!!
      XOXO

      • Kathleen McDermott

My purse is the one thing I’m lazy about. I carry a large purse because I have to have everything with me! I change purses maybe twice each season. I tend to buy neutrals or brights/jewel tones that can go with every outfit. I splurge on my purses since they are so prominent in an outfit and get so much use. The only exception to my routine would be a wedding or other fancy event.

        • That’s exactly what I did too, Kathleen. Heck, most of the time my purse was hidden under my desk anyways!!
But I’m trying now to use it as an accessory. The only bad thing is the hit to my wallet–ha ha!

  • I am currently wearing a zaful sweater! I have never tried ordering their bags; these are lovely

It has been a nice surprise that there goods have been so nice!!
I hope you’re having a great weekend Michelle—I was at a knitting retreat this weekend!!

  • This light blue bag is so cute. The size is good as well. I love how your mam matched the olive jacket and the bag. It looks great. And my favorite bag is the colorful one. It is perfect with white monochromatic outfit. Thank you for linking up with My Red Carpet.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks so much for stopping by Anna!
I love that colorful purse too—it really adds some “purse”onality to an outfit (sorry, I couldn’t resist!!)

  • Your dainty top handle bag is so sweet and pretty. And I know you think Pantone’s color names are silly, but I would totally stop you on the street and comment on your “Airy Blue” bag! lol I like that it skews flirty and dainty with the dress but polished and chic with the blazer and trousers.
And Charlotte’s patchwork bag is so on-trend and funky for fall! It feels retro and contemporary at the same time. Such a great find!

    • Jodie Filogomo

You made me laugh Liz—because I do think the names are a little silly (but that’s totally my issue–ha ha). But I do love “airy blue” in any way, shape or form!!
Thanks for giving me a great laugh today!!!

  • PetiteOver40

As always, your post and outfits are super fun! You ladies do such a great job trying new things and you end up giving me food for thought and inspiring my own style as a result! I would never have thought to carry your mom’s purse, for example, but seeing how you styled it the two different ways, I admit it is very cute and your mom looks so hip!

    Hugs,
    Sherry

The color block purse would be too busy for you? I think it’s such a fun addition to an outfit—it really screams look at me, without being overwhelming, IMO. I’m not sure if you read all the other comments, but I actually ordered that purse for me. I knew mom would love it too, so I let her choose!! And, of course, she loved it!
      Thanks for all the love!!
      XOXO

  • mummabstylish

Love all these bags, really like the pale blue. I’ve got quite a few bags for different outfits, but they’re nearly all neutral colours, so i’m trying to add more statement pieces this year. Jacqui
    http://www.mummabstylish.com

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Jacqui!!
I’m just the opposite—I think I have more bright colorful bags, so I have to start investing in some neutrals!!—Maybe we should just swap a few, ha ha!!

      • mummabstylish

Yes swapping – a fab idea, lol x

        • Jodie Filogomo

          🙂

  • I so agree with you on designer bags, when I read the cost of those bags I think it’s crazy! I wouldn’t spend more than $50 on a bag, and even that would be too much in my opinion. LOVE your blue bag. I really love it when they include a different strap with a bag too. I just bought a handbag and I wish it came with an alternate long strap.

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s how I feel, but I see the other side, if you carry the same one for a year—then you’ve gotten 365 days out of it!
But there are such fun ones for a fraction of the cost too!!
I do like having the different length straps—and how great that all three of these had them!

  • Oh my goodness, we really are often on the same wavelength! I just did a Zaful post as well 🙂 These bags definitely caught my eye while browsing. You ladies look great!

    • Jodie Filogomo

A great purse can be a fun way to change up an outfit, huh? And doesn’t Zaful have the greatest deals?

  • You know how fabulous I think you are! Thanks for sharing with us at Style Sweet Spot.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Jennifer!!

  • Amy D. Christensen

What can I say? I’m at a loss for words, because you nailed it! Every one of your outfits is absolutely gorgeous. You are stunning in that dress and I love Nancy’s matching jacket outfit and Mom’s white outfit. These are awesome and to think it was all inspired by purses! Dang! – Amy

    • Jodie Filogomo

It’s funny how you put together outfits based on one piece or another….it’s kind of like decorating a room—you find a focal point or piece and work around it!!
Thanks for all the encouragement Amy!!

  • Debbie Stinedurf

I gotta say that you’re such a smokin’ hot knockout in that dress I almost didn’t notice the purse! It is super cute though…once I actually looked at it…lol! I am super lazy about bags. Although I suppose I “wear” my bag, I rarely change it except maybe seasonally. If I want to specifically match an outfit I swap in a clutch.

    • Jodie Filogomo

How nice you are Debbie!! I guess I need to wear this dress more often…like our next date night?

  • Kristin & Megan

I just love that pastel blue! Gorgeous bag!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks so much—I’m finding it really goes with a ton of outfits!!

  • Laura

Wow! I love the variety of looks and bags you’ve chosen! From colorful to neutral, structured to slouchy, you’ve done a nice job! I love adding a bag to complete my look, but I tend towards carrying neutral ones in case I don’t have time to switch! Your light blue one is calling to me though!

    • Jodie Filogomo

That used to be my thinking too Laura!! I always went with a neutral one.
But lately I’m finding myself reaching for my brighter ones—funny, how we change over time?
I do have the insides of my purse in small bags, so it does make it easy to change them out!

  • My fave is Charlotte’s!! But I’m quite certain you saw that one coming, Jodie 🙂 what can I say?? I could never say no to a rainbow-inspired bag.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I totally agree—it was mine in all intents and purposes! But then I decided to let mom & Nancy have their choosing from the bunch!
As long as they love them & use them….it’s all good!!

  • I think a handbag can sometimes make (or break) an outfit!
I certainly aim to “wear” mine.,
Often using a bag to spice up a look.

Anyways…. your Mum needs to send me that bag immediately! How fabulous.
A perfect shape and those colours are fun.
This is a great post Jodie.
I would happily use (and wear) all three of these bags.

    • Jodie Filogomo

They really can be quite a statement as I’m beginning to find out!
Since I always used to carry mine in my bigger work bag—no one ever got to see them, so I never really thought about the effect!!
Isn’t that colorful one so pretty? I actually ordered it for me, however, I decided to let the mom’s pick their favorite first!! Sometimes, I am nice–ha ha!!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

It is great to read about how to “wear” a purse…did I mention I’m a “handbag ho”? (Sorry…) I also like the hobo bag because of the size and shape, AND the olive green color! I’ve become a “Coach” girl over the years (outlet Coaches!). I have so many in different colors that I can theme them to the season. A fun read, Jodie!

    • Jodie Filogomo

It’s fun to have a great variety of bags, Terri!
That means you look great all the time!!

  • donnaduck

When I was younger (I turned 60 this year-ACK!), I had to have leather purses. It was just my thing. And if they came in a hobo style, I was all over it! Then, about 13 years ago, I discovered Vera Bradley. A hobo bag, so I was smitten; gorgeous print fabric, I loved the many colors; and soooo much lighter in weight than leather! And honestly, I haven’t looked back since! You might argue that Vera is a designer bag, and I guess that’s true. However, from a price-point perspective, Vera bags are SO much less expensive! No way could I afford Kate Spade, or Michael Kors, but I can afford Vera Bradley! I never shop the current season/styles, but give me the clearance, and then a sale on TOP of the clearance, and I’m there!

I find the colors go with everything I have, but once in a while, I do match what I’m wearing to a particular bag. I loved reading about you taking a piece of paper to figure out how big the bag is- I thought I was the only one who did that!! I even mark it out with a ruler, then cut it out! That way I’m never surprised by the size.

As to your bags- love them! That blue bag is adorable! Love Nancy’s hobo straw bag, and your mom’s looks perfect for her!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I really don’t think wanting or having designer bags is bad—it’s all a personal preference, right?
But those Vera Bradley bags are very fun!! My knitting friend purchased one awhile back and I twisted her arm to get one with color in it (she was leaning towards a black & white one)!! I never thought about the fact that the fabric makes them lighter in weight than leather ones!! Great point Donna!!
And stalking the sales is my kind of thing—-it’s smart and economical!
Do you have a favorite one?

      • donnaduck

My favorite style is a hobo, but there aren’t too many in Vera Bradley anymore. So I tend to go with a tote of some kind. If it has pockets inside, on both sides of the purse, I’m pretty much in heaven! I carry my life with me, it seems! One thing I always have in my purse is a Vera wristlet. That way, I can pull it out and just use that when I don’t want to carry the whole purse. One sales lady told me years ago that she mixes her patterns with what she buys, so that when she goes in her Vera Bradley for her wristlet, glasses case, coin purse, she can find them easily, because they’re not camouflaged in her purse! I loved that idea and I’ve been doing the same ever since!

And I definitely don’t think wanting or having designer bags is bad! I say get whatever you love most!

  • I am loving all three of the Zaful purses, Jodie! Great outfits in all photos, and awesome heels, ladies! xo

And even though it’s not super big, I used it for the entire week, and did fine!!

  • Mother Daughter

These are all great looking bags, hard to believe the pricing. lol I am a purse snob and tend to go to designer bags. But I do have to say since we started blogging I have seen some really cute non designer bags.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I know Victoria—these are totally cheap, huh? And maybe they won’t last more than a season, but even though I used to keep my bags around in case I’d want to pull them out again—I rarely did! I always wanted a newer or different color one!
      Thanks for reading!!

  • I really like all three purses you picked out! My favorite one is probably your mom’s because of all the pretty colors! And I like your tip to double check the measurements of purses when you order online! I have made the mistake not to pay attention before…

    Have a great week!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Right? It’s so hard to have a perspective of the size when they only show the purse itself.
That’s why I like seeing them on a person—it’s helpful to get an idea of how big it really it!!

  • Queen of Rods

Showing the inside of the handbags and how much they’ll hold was a really good idea! I particularly like Nancy’s color scheme in both outfits and love the lace insets on your Mom’s blouse. Nice 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Janet!
The inside pockets aren’t a make or break when I get a new purse, but it can be helpful to figure out how things will work!! I think Nancy’s outfit with the white jeans is my fave!! It looks so crisp & clean!!

  • Wow these are lovely bags! I love especially the multicoloured one! Have a great day. Gemma x
