Black & White 4 (With Pastels)

Black & White for the 50, 60, & 70 Year Old Women with Pastels. Styling Older Females

Black & White for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: Combined with Pastels

Quote of the day: “When I was young there was no respect for the young, and now that I am old there is no respect for the old. I missed out coming and going.” Joseph Priestley

Black & white are those two extremes that everyone has in their closets and everyone seems to love. I started this series almost a year ago (here) and decided to carry forward with even more combinations (it does seem truly endless). Many older women will say that pastels don’t look good on them anymore with their silver hair. Well, here’s a perfect way to continue to wear those lighter colors,if you still love them—combine them with your black & white items!

50’s Black & White (Dress): So I accidentally put two different earrings in each ear hole–maybe it should be a new trend? A great way to make one small earring look bigger?

60’s Black & White (Sweater): Since Nancy’s sweater is longer in the back, she felt fine wearing it with her leggings!

Pretty outfits. I especially like your pale pink jacket. It is a great change from what colors people sometimes go to with black and white.

    • Thanks Jess!! That pink jacket has been so fun for me—I wasn’t sure I’d wear it much and surprisingly it’s gotten lots of use!!

  • MaryAnne

Love these combinations, especially the bright pop of color.

    • Thanks Mary Anne….I think this is truly my favorites of all the black & white series (including Saturday’s which will be metallics!)

  • Really love the print of your dress…everyone looks gorgeous!

  • Very pretty looks all around and your mom’s button pin is too cute! I am not a huge fan of pastels on myself, but think I may be willing to try them more with a black and white palette like this. Thanks for the idea, Jodie!

  • I’m certainly not one to shy away from a pastel, and I do enjoy the trend of styling them year round and not just reserving them for the spring!
    Chic on the Cheap

    • It is funny, how I love the pastels but don’t usually reach for them when it’s cold—but I’m trying!! Thanks for reading Lydia!!

  • I would never have thought to put the black and white with pastels! All three really cute looks. 🙂 Darlene

  • Yes, I like that Dorothy Perkins dress too! Wear with tights and boots? Super cute but still OK for us over 50 gals! Black and white is very professional, I still have a lot in my closet and wear when teaching.

    • Do you wear the black & white by itself or pair it with other colors? I love that Dorothy Perkins dress too….really anything with those dark side panels! Funny because on the model it looks short but when I measure it on my body—it’s just past my knees!!

  • Lovely looks ladies as always . You look classy with a modern edge ! I also like the Dorothy Perkins dress that you linked to as well.
