Brown for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: Paired with Red

Brown with Navy for the 50's, 60's, & 70's.

Quote of the day: “When science finally locates the center of the universe, some people will be surprised to learn they’re not it.” Anonymous

Since brown is a darker neutral, I decided to go with a brighter color combination for the second in our series. The first post joined navy with the same neutral items (here). This red and brown mixture is perfect if you love wearing red, but feel the need to tone it down at times!

I liked all three of the looks. I struggle with brown sometimes because i don’t know what to wear with it other than tan or jeans.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Since brown is a neutral…it really looks great with every color! Just wait until Saturday and I show it with a pastel (guess which one?)!!!! Thanks for reading Michele!

  • I love this post with the ladies of all ages. I am in my 60’s and the lady in the 70’s would give me a run for the money. All of you look Fabulous! Enjoy Valentines Day.

Thanks Rebecca for stopping by!! You do look wonderful in brown!!

  • Gorgeous. I always like brown instead of black as a neutral, and it looks great paired with the red.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’m with you…brown is not as harsh as black…but sometimes it’s hard to find in the stores!!

  • A little bit of red makes all the difference (and I LOVE your mum’s boots – and your red shoes!)

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Leanne!!

  • Pretty! I love your plaid!

  • What a great combination! I never thought of putting a bright color like red with a more “toned down” color like brown as you described. Definitely rocking these outfits! Thanks for sharing! I’m not much of a brown color wearer because I already feel so dark as it is! But these look good for a winter look! Also thanks for sharing your post on the Thursday Tryouts link-up. Please share the link-up in your posts if you decided to join again, which I hope you do! Thanks for sharing!
