Brown 3 (With Pink)

Brown for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: Paired with Pink

Brown with Navy for the 50's, 60's, & 70's.

Quote of the day: “Glances of true beauty can be seen in the faces of those who live in true meekness.” Henry David Thoreau

In the third installment of what to wear with brown, I decided to go to the opposite color spectrum than the first two posts. The first post was a dark color–navy (here) and the second was a bright color–red (here). So I decided that this color mix needed to be a light color. I really like all the pastels with brown, but I chose pink!

50’s Brown (Blouse): So my necklace actually broke at the bottom of it. Since it’s so long, I decided to cross tie the ends and drape it around my neck.

60’s Brown (Vest): I like draping this scarf over the neck of the vest instead of under the vest. I was trying to break up the puffiness of the vest.

And I’d hate for the bottom half of your body to get jealous–so here’s skirts & pants in brown (the NY & Co ones aren’t really sold out–at least when I checked–and they’re only $20 and even come in petites and talls):

  • Kathleen McDermott

Pink is so flattering. Love it with brown. All these looks are particularly nice. Charlotte’s pin is perfect on her jacket.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’ve always been a brown girl more than black—and this is one of my favorite combinations! (Of course, that’s like saying which flavor of ice cream is my favorite—it’s the one I’m eating at the time—ha ha)

  • Love the leopard paired with pink. Going to steal this pairing

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Michelle—steal away—it’s a fun combo!!

  • Two things: Can I please have your boots? Pretty please! Those are to-die-for!! And that short, cropped, leopard jacket is the bees’ knees!

Love, Ann from Kremb de la Kremb

    • Jodie Filogomo

Aren’t my boots something? And to think I almost didn’t buy them…I got them at a thrift store and there was a tear in the leg area. I vacillated over whether they were too crazy, but in the end my fun side won out!!

  • Well these get my vote as I love brown and pink together.
I’ll take your fierce boots (swoon), Nancy’s fabulous hot pink scarf (swoon) and your Mum’s chic jacket (swoon) please. Thank you.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I do think this was my favorite of the brown series…I love all pastels with brown!!

  • Lorena Lorena

Hi J! I don’t think I have ever paired these three colours together. I think you 3 look marvelous and I am totally inspired by this color scheme… I am going to check my closet. See what I can come up with!

    • Jodie Filogomo

It is a nice combo, eh? I’d love to see your outfit when you wear it!!

      • Lorena Lorena

Hey Jodie, I am linking to your blog on my next post 🙂 thanks for the inspiration.

        • Jodie Filogomo

Cool!!! Thanks…and if you remember, send me a link!!!

  • Anna Parkes

Jodie, your boots are the star of the show today – I love, love, love them! I know there’s lots to admire and comment on, but the boots are all I can see (huge sigh of envy).

I do love those boots!! At first I thought they might be too crazy—but maybe in fact, that’s why I love them!!

  • Rosemond

Love the color combo of pink and brown. it’s timeless but still manages to feel current. You ladies look lovely!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Rosemond!!

  • Oh wow, look at your Mum with her jacket! That’s just so funky, I love it. Animal print really can be worn at any age. And your boots, Jodie – meow!! And I love the hot pink with the brown in Nancy’s outfit.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Jacqueline!! I didn’t even realize I was putting two of us in animal prints-!!

  • I love the color combos going on here…and so in love with your boots!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I love these boots too Tara—I can’t tell you how long I vacillated on whether to buy them or not—they were thrifted and had a small tear in them. But I’m so glad I got them and I repaired the tear—no one can see it and even I forget it’s there! Thanks for reading!!

  • I think blush and brown are perfect together – ESPECIALLY with leopard!

    Chic on the Cheap

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Lydia!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Patti!!

  • You ladies all look beautiful!
I love the shots of you laughing.
I would LOVE to see Nancy in some chunky heeled brogues, Jodie.
    She would rock them!
In fact, all three of you have the legs for it!!
Maybe you could do a Brogues series?? :op
    P.S….those snake boots are fabulous!

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s a great idea for a blog series….but it probably won’t be until next fall—I’m still working on the jumpsuits (call me a turtle!!) Thanks for always being such a great reader/commentor Samantha!!!

  • I love the boots in the first picture , but seriously i never knew how brown could compliment the colour pink so well , Thanks for these lovely style inspo. You all look great!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thank for the wonderful comment, Uzo!! I love brown quite a bit, since to me it seems so much warmer than black!!

  • I think all three of you look ever so nice. I forgot about brown with pink. That is indeed a very nice combination. I like the scarf tied over the vest with Nancy. And I love your boots Jodie, really adore them. The leopard jacket mom is wearing just proves there is no age limit for wearing leopard. It looks stunning on her.

    • Jodie Filogomo

thanks Greetje!! I think brown has taken a minor role lately–compared to grey & black. I hardly see it in the stores! When It comes back in vogue—I’ll be ready!!!

  • what a beautiful mix of colors! loving the pink and brown combination!

    cute & little

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Kileen!!

  • Versatilestylebytracey

Another fabulous trio! Love your boots. Pink and brown is a great combo, I adore.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Tracey!!! I vacillated over pink or light blue because I like both so much…but since it’s Valentine’s weekend…i went with the pink!

  • Brown and pink are so pretty together! You all look amazing in pastels!

    Doused In Pink

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks tons Jill!!

  • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Darlene…I do think this is my fave!!

  • Amy D. Christensen

Another winning combination! You all look beautiful. And I love how you paired the light pink sweater with the dark red skirt. I usually can’t do pastels, but the way you combined the pastel with the dark brown, I think would work for me. Thanks Jodie!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I really liked this one too—and I would have never put it together except I was trying to work in the “theme”—it’s been such a great experience for me. I’m certainly glad you’re enjoying it too!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Amy!!
