Capes/Ponchos for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Dressy Version

Quote of the day: “Do the best you can in every task, no matter how unimportant it may seem at the time. No one learns more about a problem than the person at the bottom.” Anonymous

That fantastic cape or poncho you have can be a perfect outer layer to a dressy outfit. You certainly don’t want to put on your ski jacket for warmth when you are going out. To me, throwing a poncho over your outfit adds an element of flair. We wore these same items for a casual day (here) and out to an appointment (here).

50’s Cape/Poncho: I tried tying the ends of my poncho in the front…kinda weird.

60’s Cape/Poncho: You may think it silly to be bare legged when there’s snow on the ground. But if you live in Denver, you know that the sun can warm it up to 60 degrees after a snow!

70’s Cape/Poncho: This time the cape really is the stand out to the outfit. I’d want mom to wear this to an event where she wouldn’t be taking off her coat.

  • This has got to be one of my favorite style series you have done. 🙂 I don’t think your cape looks weird tied in the front. Great job on all three looks, once again!

Thanks Darlene….I do love my cape —probably would have never bought one before starting this blog because I would’ve thought it so impractical! Funny how we change!
