Chunky Knits for the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s: Over your Jeans

Quote of the day: “Every age can be enchanting, provided you live within it.” Bridgitte Bardot

Thanks to the 80’s decade and our love to hold onto things, I bet there is at least one chunky knit sweater in your closet!  One of the secrets of making this older piece of clothing look contemporary, is to pair it with your great fitting jeans.  Since the sweater has quite a bit of bulk make sure your jeans are form fitting and straight legged!  There is no need to look like a blob!  You may think that because it’s getting warmer, you won’t wear this now, however, it’s still cool in many parts of the world, especially in the mornings.

60’s Chunky Knits:  Considering Nancy’s sweater and jeans are muted in color, this is a great time to add in her leopard shoes for excitement!

70’s Chunky Knits: Considering mom’s sweater’s sleeves are only 3/4 length, we took a layering approach by adding a t-shirt that compliments the sweater !  Just check out her shoes!

    • Thanks -A-. Maybe I should have done your scarf trick with the chunky knits. Hmmm…I’ll have to try that for next time!!

  • I enjoyed your fashions, chunky knits are so warm. Thanks for the fashions

  • Pam Miller

I, too, appreciated the addition of the blue and white scarf with your outfit, Jodie. I like the way you are always accessorizing all the outfits. Pam

    • Thanks Pam…I think of accessorizing as the chocolate chips in the cookies…sweet and wonderful!

  • I added a white and a pink chunky sweater this season and plan to keep them out for Spring…Love these looks.. Great examples of how shoes can add a lot to an outfit….I like the addition of the zebra striped scarf as it adds a vertical line to the bulky sweater.

  • Cute! I can’t believe your mom knitted that sweater…and she is rockin’ those shoes!!

    • My mom is pretty amazing!! I love these shoes and she usually wears them with burgundy tights which makes them blend in too much! I wanted to show them off!!
