Covered Perfectly for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Dressy Version

We were gifted these shirts from Covered Perfectly, but I was not paid for writing my posts. All of our feelings are honest and true!

Quote of the day: “If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.” Coco Chanel

If you are nearing “middle” age then you might have heard of the company Covered Perfectly. The company concentrates on shirts that are made with the 40+ woman in mind (they cover some of the arm and are long enough in the torso). Not that they can’t be worn by younger women too!  You can see Pauline’s story (the founder) here. I realize that you may consider them “just a t-shirt”, and you could be right. But fine, let me show you how a t-shirt can be styled for many occasions starting with a dressier one in this post! I did a series on styling a t-shirt with different items back about a year ago starting here. And a couple specials from the company for my readers are at the bottom of the post.

60’s Outfit: We added the metallic accessories to add some glitter and sparkle to Nancy’s skirt & top. The clip on her scarf is a great way to keep the scarf in place!

70’s Outfit: Mom felt more comfortable wearing a tank top under her shirt (for all the posts). I bought her this necklace for Christmas as I know how she likes to “cover” her decolletage.

And we made mom’s scarf into a DIY kimono/wrap by knotting the ends to make sleeves. Here’s a Pin off Pinterest that shows what I’m trying to say in more detail!

The 50’s thoughts on her open shoulder shirt: I think every woman should have one of these shirts! I’ve never heard a woman complain about how bad her shoulders look, so why not show them off? This shirt is perfect because you can still wear your bra, the underarms don’t show and it’s FUN!! The only drawback was these shirts don’t come in petites, so I did have to shorten mine about 3 inches.

Doesn’t everyone love a deal? So right now at Covered Perfectly you can buy 2 and get one free OR get 20% off with the code JF20…(Mother’s Day is right around the corner)!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Debbie—I do love these tops so much (after getting this one) that I’m going to do an entire blog series on them!! All women should have one!

  • You look positively regal in royal purple and gold! I LOVE that color combination!

How fun that you were gifted pieces from Covered Perfectly to feature in this post. I’m unfamiliar with the brand, so it’s great to see each of you styling their tops. I like that yours is a bit cheeky with the shoulder cut-outs. It’s a great way to show some skin, but it’s a part of the body most women are confident enough to flaunt.

I see they have a plus size section, and there’s a fun cold-shoulder top in leopard print that I’d love to pair with a blush tulle skirt!

As you know, I shop straight and plus sizes, fast fashion and pricier retailers, and stores geared towards a range of demographics. I like to have options, so I appreciate learning about Covered Perfectly. Thanks!

      Liz—you’re so nice…thank you!
I think it’s such a blessing to get to work with companies—you get to spread the word about great products and try things you may never have done so otherwise!! I’m not sure I would’ve tried this open shoulder shirt on my own—but I love it so much, I’m going to do an entire series around it!!
      Thanks for all your help!!

  • RedTagChicLA

Love how you all used color to style everything so perfectly! Enjoy the rest of the week!

Thanks Cielo!! I appreciate the kind words!

  • Laura

I love knit tees because of the drape and no wrinkles! All of your tops are so cute! I really love the open shoulder one!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I didn’t even think of that, but the wrinkle thing is so true. I remember the time I used to spend ironing my cotton blouses—ugh!

  • Amy D. Christensen

It’s nice that tee shirts are an option for styling in a dressy way. You did a great job dressing them up. Comfy, but fashionable. What else could we ask for?

    • Jodie Filogomo

I have to agree with you there!!

  • PetiteOver40

I think I love the skirts all of you are wearing as much, if not more, than the shirts! The shirts are great, though. Don’t get me wrong! But I really love those skirts, especially yours with the added sequin bling that sparkles in the light. These are great looks!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Well…I do love me a skirt!! I know it’s great that as women we can wear pants too, but I love having both options! It makes me feel so sorry for guys—their wardrobe choices are so limited and boring!

  • such gorgeous ladies! cute looks!

Thanks Kelsey—you’re always so complimentary!!(and I appreciate that)

  • Versatilestylebytracey

Love your cold -shoulder top in that wonderful purple shade. I hadn’t heard of this company.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Tracey—I’m really loving this shirt now! I wasn’t sure about the open shoulder thing, but I had forgotten how sexy a shoulder could be–ha ha!!

  • Sounds like a great company! The tops are pretty. Loving the colors on all of you.

    Straight A Style

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Amy!! I’m really loving the open shoulder shirts since I can wear my bra under it (you know our generation doesn’t love our bra straps showing!!)

  • dan

Beautiful purple colour for your ( sexy ) t-shirt! It really suits you! You also found earrings of a very similar colour…soooo nice!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Dan….I wasn’t sure about the open shoulders when I ordered it…but I love it so much i’m going to do an entire series on it!!!

      • dan

And you are right! You look great with the shirt!!

  • These all look great as dressy outfits!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Terri!!

  • Love all three of these shirts! Did you each pick out your own shirt or did you do the choosing? Love your skirt…Nancy’s scarf…and your mom’s necklace too! http://whosaprettygirl.com

    • Jodie Filogomo

I chose them, but with each in mind….however, I actually chose the print shirt for Nancy, but she didn’t love how it “hugged” her chest. I usually give Nancy first choice because she’s somewhat harder to fit (mom can alter her own clothing easier) and she has less in her closet!! Thanks for always reading Darlene!!!

      • The print looks fab on your mom and Nancy looks great in everything she wears! I really look forward to your posts each week. 🙂

        • Jodie Filogomo

Awww…that’s so nice Darlene…thanks for the encouragement!!

  • These are great knits and I love how versatile they are!

    Kileen
    cute & little

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Kileen….right? who doesn’t love a t-shirt?
