Dress 3 Ways for the 50's, 60's. & 70's

A Dress 3 Ways for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: (Solo)

Quote of the day: “It took me a lot of years to stop pleasing people and allow myself to have fun.” Kiera Knightly

As women of a certain age, a print dress has probably been a inhabitant of your closet for years. If you’re anything like me, you would think of these dresses for wearing to a more classy event. And that’s all good and fine. But in this series of posts, I’m going to delve further into the varieties of wearing your print dress.  This post is the easy, what you’re used to, variation of wearing the dress all by itself.

50’s Dress 3 Ways: I have to say I’m disappointed in this dress. It’s that scuba material and the tag said it was washable. However, after I washed it there was a ton of pilling all over it that I can’t get off.  You can’t really see it in the photos but its noticeable in person.  Does anyone else have this issue with this kind of material?

60’s Dress 3 Ways: This dress has been a workhorse for Nancy this season.  It’s such a great print and really can be dolled up many different ways!

Love all. Dresses are perfect for any day, any occasion. Feminine and flattering to all women. Easy to fit and comfortable to wear. A million varieties. A million ways to style them. Just throw it on and you’re guaranteed to look good. What’s not to love?? I can never pass up a pretty dress on clearance, so I have almost a hundred 😱. I own some solids, but the majority are prints and patterns of all kinds. So cool and comfy for hot summer days.

This is exactly how I think too Kathleen!! My husband will give me a hard time that I have a ton of dresses, but to me they are easier than skirts!! And now that I’ve realized that I can layer over them on the top & bottom (at least most of them)—it just makes them way more versatile!!

All three of you look fabulous in your printed dress. Jodie – what a bummer about your dress. I hope you got some tips here that can help remove those annoying pilings.

Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday.

    • Thanks Alice…I still can’t decide if I should keep the dress or toss it…at least it was only $25.

  • Jess

  • I have to say… all three dresses are beautiful. A feast to my eyes. What a shame Jodie your dress got spoiled in the wash. Would shaving help to get the pilling off? (Don’t use your husband’s razor…. I tried that once and he was not pleased….)
Althought it was very hard to choose, I thought the blue dress is the most stunning (for me) of all three.

    • I tried that battery powered gadget for pilling and it didn’t work. I never thought of a razor (I could use one of mine)—-did it work?

  • I like all the outfits and accessories! Great job:)

    • Hey Allison…Thanks for the invite…I beat you to it! Are you missing the white pants? That was an incredible feat you did!!

  • You know I’m a sucker for a good bold print so of course I love all of these.

I’ve never bought anything made out of that material because it seemed like it wouldn’t breathe and would be horribly uncomfortable. Now I know I’ve made the right choice.

    bisous

    • The material is actually comfy (and my hot flashes have been at bay, so I can’t say it’s too hot, right now)….but I guess I won’t be buying more. Then again, I’m a sucker for figuring out a problem, so I might just do it again to see if the material was defective or my washing technique sucked!! Thanks for the love!

  • All three are really cute dresses! I had a sweater once that also pilled when I washed it. Sigh…

Jodie, remember all the print dresses Grandma wore. Print was a necessity for her because it didn’t show the dirt. I own print blouses but NO print dresses. Joy took all of Grandma’s dresses when she passed and wears them today with tights. I can’t believe it!!! They are very becoming on her. Love, Auntie

    • I’ve seen the print dresses Joy has, but all I remember grandma wearing was her “housedresses”!!

  • Cathy Skelly

I have a wet suit and wash by hand with a special wet suit detergent, and then let drip dry on a hanger. Too bad about the pilling of your wet suit dress, Jodie. I think that it is too late for your dress. Have you tried to exchange it or return it?

    • I thought about taking it back…but then time passed and I figure it’s too late. I’m not sure I’d want to wash it by hand…& special detergent? Ugh—I’m way too lazy for that (especially since it was only $25)

  • dan

Your mom is wearing a fantstic dress, and it suits her perfectly! (And your today eartings are sooooo cute!!)

  • What a colourful Trio, Jodie!
I love your dress today, such a shame about the bobbles (pils) that is so annoying. We can’t see them but I know you can and it’s how YOU feel that counts! Disappointed, no doubt.
    I LOVE your jacket earring!
Your Mum is looking stylish and beautiful…she really suits that blue palette!
Nancy is a knock-out in this outfit…I’m glad she has ditched those sheer black tights (sorry Jodie..I just can’t get on with them) and got her Mojo well and truly back on track.
    Great styling!
I’m looking forward to seeing what else you do with these dresses.
