Dressing up our Fall Shoes with Jambu & Giveaway

Quote of the day: “Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.” Albert Einstein

Fall shoes may not be the first thing you think of when the weather starts to change. But I do think that Jambu shoes are impressive in their selection of comfortable booties or comfortable heels. Even though Jambu touts the comfortable part of their shoe line, there is certainly some great style to these shoes too. We were generously gifted these shoes to show to you, but you could win your own pair. Keep reading….

Considering that our fall shoes have to work with many of our outfits throughout the season, I thought I’d try to style them for both casual days and dressier times. And even though we wanted to glam up for this post, I had Nancy give an example of wearing pants as part of her outfit.

There’s also a giveaway and discount at the bottom of this post. And don’t forget to tell me your thoughts—I love to hear them!!

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: Since I matched my Canary shoes to my outfit in the casual outfit, I wanted to change it up for this look.

So instead of trying to find a dress or top the same color as these shoes, I picked a dress that had the same sort of colors. I figured it was dark enough to support the heavier shoes, and I added the chambray shirt for coverage.

I know I talked all about the shoes in the last post, but let me tell you where I wore them for this day. We went office furniture shopping at American Furniture Warehouse. Now if you’ve ever been to that store, then you realize how much walking is involved in such an activity.

And considering this was the first time I had worn the shoes, I was a little nervous. But hours later, I was still a happy camper, along with the fact that we found 2 new desks and a furry ottoman. I’m sure you’ll get to see the entire office set up if you check back later this year. I plan to reveal it all at the Fall Bucket list update.

You may recognize this dress from a couple of other posts this year.

It’s a slip dress that used to be my best friend’s dress and was given to me when she passed away. I was cleaning out my closet when I found it this year, and was super close to giving it away, since I hadn’t worn it in 10 years. But then I decided I should try and style it since it was so pretty.

So my first attempt was with a tweed jacket, second with a sweater under it, and then I wore it with my denim jacket. I’d like to try it with a white blouse under it next. What do you think?

I will be the first to admit, that I wouldn’t go out and purchase a slip dress at this age. But if by chance you are more adventurous than me, and can think of some fun ways to style it like I have, then I’d say go for it. In fact, you could even consider it a beach cover up if you wanted to get real versatile. I found a couple of these dresses that might work for many of you here and here.

Since I was incorporating another color into the mix with the chambray shirt, I tried to add in some blue accessories like this necklace and my blue purse.

I wore this necklace with my denim and camo outfit earlier this summer. It was one of my first pieces from Rocksbox, but I wasn’t going to keep it, so I sent it back. Of course, once I did that, then I kept finding outfits that it would go with perfectly. So I requested it again, and this time I purchased it. At least it wasn’t an impulse buy. And you can get a month of Rocksbox free too with the code JTouchofstylexoxo.

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: I know many women have expressed that they don’t wear skirts or dresses much anymore.

Therefore, we had Nancy dress up her fall shoes by wearing a jumpsuit. I would consider these Amal ankle booties somewhat dressy since they have such a lovely texture on the back of them.  And they are a heel, even though they aren’t a super high heel.

Many times we still have to get dressed up and venture outside even if the weather isn’t optimal. Having these booties in your arsenal could be perfect, since the soles are incredibly heavy and slip proof. And did I mention comfortable? All of the fall shoes we were given from Jambu shoes have memory foam in the soles. And this memory sole is replaceable. Maybe you need these replacement soles for all of your shoes?

Nancy is a huge fan of jumpsuits every since she was young.

I know many women complain about the bathroom aspect of these pieces of clothing. But considering there is a pro and con to everything, I think they can be dressed up so nicely. Nancy wore this jumpsuit to her high school reunion last summer and for our jumpsuit series.

If you agree with Nancy, that a jumpsuit is a easy way to dress up while still wearing pants, then I rounded up a couple that are under $50 for you to check out. I know most women appreciate anything in black, so I started with that color. But just in case you don’t mind being adventuresome, I also found a yellow one (and yes, you’d probably want to wear a cami under it) and a stone colored one (that comes in a couple of colors).

To add some glam and glitter to the look, we added in some gold accessories and then played with styling this wrap.

At first Nancy draped the scarf over her shoulders and let it hang down in front. But on the way back to the house, she threw one of the ends around her neck and over her shoulder. I actually like this version even better, because you can appreciate the keyhole opening in the back of the jumpsuit.

Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit: Now let’s discuss the OTK boots with these Kendra boots.

Any woman over the age of 40 would probably associate the over the knee boots with the movie Pretty Woman. But like I discussed in the Fall Trends post, the OTK boot reputation is starting to change. Just think of how much warmer these boots would be since they cover more of your leg.

One of the advantages of these taller boots, is you don’t have as much space between the hem of your dress and your boots. Of course, in my mom’s example here, you can still see some space between the two. And that’s because I had her choose a shorter dress so you could fully appreciate these boots. But with most of my mom’s skirts and dresses, there wouldn’t be any exposed leg.

Another point I’d love to make here, is the combination of navy and black.

My mom’s dress is really a navy sweater dress, and the boots are black. If you still consider it a faux pas to mix these two colors, then let me tell you a secret. It’s okay to combine them now. Since they are both neutrals, they work fine together. That and the fact, that most people have trouble telling them apart. So why shouldn’t they be together in an outfit?

Do you already have a sweater dress in your closet? I do think they are a great winter dress for most of us. I found a couple that are under $50 if you are interested. This version comes in petites and many colors, and this one is a fun stripes with a cowl neck. Just remember, you could also wear them as a tunic over your leggings.

For my mom’s accessories, we added in the red that is part of the fair isle portion of the sweater dress.

The necklace we doubled to make it a choker length so it would add some nice color to her face.

Red accessories are a super way to add in some color to any outfit. There are such a wide variety of red necklaces available that would look great with so many outfits. For example, if you love the tassel trend, then this is a fun design. Or if you prefer a shorter necklace that isn’t a choker then this stone necklace is very affordable.
