Fur for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Casual Version

Fur for women in their 50's. 60's. & 70's.

Quote of the day: “Plan to be better today, but don’t ever plan to be finished.” Carol Ann Tomlinson

Since the weather (for some of us) is now chilly, fur or faux can be a welcome addition to our outfits. You may have a fur coat in your closet, but I also found other items in our closets. This adornment is seen trimmed on my jacket, on Nancy as a vest and on mom as a scarf! They are all fun & versatile items at least in my book—let me know if you agree!! Our age grouped women tend to think of this embellishment as fancy and dressy, but this post shows them styled for a casual day!

50’s Fur (Collared Jacket): My collar is removable, but I really don’t wear it without the fur….to me, the fuzziness adds so much more interest to it!

60’s Fur (Vest): We layered the vest over a lightweight jacket. It may seem like a lot going on, but since the shirt is a tank, we needed the coverage!

With 14 rescue kitties, I love fur. And I love to wear faux fur. The 3 sets of fur enhanced outfits are charming.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Wowza!! 14 kitties!! That’s my heaven on earth!! How do you get them to tolerate each other?? My two fur babies still don’t always get along so well??
I would think that you live in coated jeans or leather pants—to me those are perfect for not collecting cat hair!!

We’re down from our high of 39! They know they have to learn to live happily together and eventually things work out after we adopt a new one. Re home attire, I have lots of PJs, robes and loungewear.

        • Jodie Filogomo

39!!! Do you live on a farm?? What a wonderful soul you are, Kathleen!!

Heavily wooded area, lots of property (though only some ever go out). Love all creatures – feed the raccoons, possums, deer, foxes, birds. Wore my brand new faux fur jacket for 1st time today (with leopard cardi underneath) and thought of you. 🌝

          • Jodie Filogomo

What a wonderful place to live!! It’s like being part of a zoo with all the wild life around, I bet??
You should text me a selfie of you in your jacket!! I’d love to see it!! (303-419-3375)

  • Fur is another texture that can add fun and style to an outfit. I love it and I love all three stylings. But I have a soft spot for your lovely green jacket, Jodie, especially with that very pretty illusion necklace.

      Thanks Jacqueline….

  • Bernadette Laganella

Thanks for taking the time to post today.

  • I love the coziness of fur trim. It makes any outfit feel instantly wintry, cozy, and luxe. I like that you’ve each showcased a different way to wear it, and that fur-trimmed blazer is such a neat piece. I’m also obsessed with that Romwe cocoon sweater!

Thanks for the nice words Liz…isn’t that cocoon sweater so cute?

  • Fur is so much fun isn’t it?
Even your Mum’s small touch adds something fun to a simple look.
Nancy’s Gilet is my favourite….I love the casual layers with the different lengths and contrasting colours (nice to see that jacket again). The only thing I would do differently, if I was wearing Nancy’s outfit, would be to add gutties (trainers or converse) and go all out casual! I am sure Nancy could rock that too!!
Your coat is lovely, and it goes surprisingly well with that ice-blue top, an unexpected combination, for me, but I really like it!!

P.S Very envious of your snow and blue skies!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Hey Samantha….I do love the fur things nowadays!!
And I do need to take Nancy shoe shopping!! She definitely doesn’t have my obsession, but she’s come a long way! I must admit I’d never heard of the term “gutties” —your vernacular cracks me up!
We are so lucky to have great weather (just don’t tell anybody, because we don’t want anymore traffic!!)
Happy New Year and thanks for checking in!!

I bought a fur collar that clips onto anything and have been waiting for cold temperatures to wear. Like your jacket and Mom’s scarf. Nancy’s vest is great, think if the two tops were the same length as the vest it would work better.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Can’t wait to see your fur collar!! I think you’re right about Nancy’s tops!

  • donnanance

Nice looks on all of you ladies! I pinned the Romwe sweater…it may overwhelm my 5’2″ self

    • Jodie Filogomo

I thought that too at first…but the measurements say it’s only 56 cm long and that only goes to mid hip on me!!

  • Bernadette Laganella

This is great. I particularly like the fur scarf your mom is wearing as an embellishment and your quote.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Bernadette!!
