Guest Post showcasing Mitali in our Bridging the Gap Campaign
Some of the women in our campaign wanted to be involved; however, didn’t have a blog of their own. Thus is the case with Michele and Mitali. These two women met when Michele became a stylist on Mitali’s site. They met for lunch in NYC and got to know each other, thus bridging the gap between the age range. You can read more about the Bridging the Gap campaign, here.
So this is Michele’s post introducing us to Mitali.
With a Bachelors in CE and a Masters in EE, Mitali worked in the Telecommunications industry for over 10 years. It was 2014 when we released how traditional fashion was hurting Her inspiration came when she wanted to know what other regular people (not bloggers or models) were wearing at travel destination, whether that be London, Miami or Mumbai, India. On researching she came across platforms filled with “glossy” images and one of them took her own post down for “not meeting the standards”.
Hence, the idea of Fashom came, a social mobile app (www.fashom.com) where everyday people could share their personal style without being intimated by their physical appearance. Fashom wants to create a movement where everyday people could be trendsetters!
Mitali is married to a business consultant from NYC and they both live and travel between Miami and NYC. They have a furry son named Chewy who is also the CMO (Chief Mischief Officer) at Fashom.
Her message to the world is that “you don’t have to be a runway model or a major brand to celebrate fashion. People around us feel alienated because of their body size, shape, age, cross dressing habits, etc but that should not preclude us from sharing our fashion sense and ideas”.
Bridging the Gap Campaign
Thanks to Beth Briggs for the fabulous graphic she made for our campaign. If you can’t tell a difference between the women in the graphic as to their age, there is a reason for that. Let’s enjoy every woman with what they bring to the table, and get rid of the labels!
If you want to be part of the Forever Fierce Facebook group we would love it!! It is an incredible group of women who can inspire and become new friends. We are here to change the thinking that getting old is bad. Let’s embrace our ages whether they be young or old, and enjoy the strengths that each of us possess!
And make sure to check out all of the women in the campaign. It’s been incredible meeting and finding out about them.
Thanks to one and all of you for your support. It means more than you know!
