Lace for the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s: the Casual Version

Quote of the day: “Life is change…Growth is optional…Choose wisely…”  Anonymous

I know there is some type of lace item hanging in your closet as we speak—I can almost guarantee it!  It is traditionally thought of as a dressy/expensive item but in keeping with the spirit of the quote above, we’ll make it more modern by using it in a casual theme.  It is perhaps the last item in your closet that you would normally wear for running errands, but that’s what makes these casual outfits refreshing—by adding a little bit of the unexpected!

50’s Lace (Dress):  A great way to make any item more casual is with a leather jacket and leopard flats!

60’s Lace (Top): So if you want to wear this casual, almost workout jacket, to go out and run errands, how about adding some pizzazz?  That’s the word I would use to describe this lace shirt underneath the Eddie Bauer sporty cover-up.

70’s Lace (Tank top): This tank top has lace at the top portion only and is reversible…one side is a square neckline and the other side is a v-neck.  Don’t you think the outfit is sporty with a flair?

  • Kathleen McDermott

Lace again looking so good. Charlotte’s outfit is my favorite. I love a pastel with white, especially lace.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Well, that’ll just make her day Kathleen!! Thanks!

  • I love lace, and since I don’t usually go anywhere fancy, I like thinking up ways to wear it more casually. Great ideas, and I love your red dress!!

      • I love that too, but it is hard to get my mom to see it that way—you know, once you “learn” a rule, it’s hard to unlearn it!!

  • I’m borrowing that outfit too…just sayin’. 😉

    • I think this swapping of clothes would be a ton easier if you moved down the street—although with your aversion to tights, maybe I need to move closer to you! Then I can borrow that blazer from your gingham post (and a gingham shirt)!!

      • My house is for sale and I’m moving to Las Vegas, NV. I will NEVER need tights!!! I should send you all of mine…
        Come visit me in Vegas!

        • Never say never…I’ve been cold in Vegas. We could visit…we have a timeshare there (already used it this year….next year?) Are you going to deal blackjack?
