A-Line Skirts for the 50's, 60's, & 70's

A-Line Skirt for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s:

Quote of the day: “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: It goes on.” Robert Frost

As I’ve stated in the past, I love a skirt for many reasons. And most of us have an a-line skirt already in our possession. One is it gives variety to a women’s wardrobe and secondly it tends to be cooler (think air flow between your legs).  In today’s society, we don’t usually pick a skirt as a “go-to” for a casual day, but with a t-shirt and sandals, why not?

As someone who really wants to wear what is already in our closets, I thought using our a-line skirts would work just fine. Why not be able to wear it for many occasions, right? If you missed the earlier post, I dressed up these exact same skirts for the workplace (here).

70’s A-Line Skirt: I had mom try on this vest at a consignment shop. She’d overlooked it because the label showed that it wasn’t her size…but it fits great!

Now some A-line skirts in solid colors:

  • 🙂 I love that you have your mom in a denim sleeveless vest! We should all look that young when we’re in our 70s!

    • And we can all look great at any age—-at least that’s part of my premise!! Age is just a number…beauty is a fact!!

  • I love this it is so interesting and I love your models 🙂 I have a page that I am going to link your site to, a good fit.

  • Fun post! I love A line skirts too; never liked the pencil ones at all. I must say that you all look very healthy n happy!

    • Thanks Agatha!! Truthfully I think I like all skirts…different ones for different reasons. But I love that we’re all different!! thanks for reading!!!

  • I really loved seeing the skirts from different years. I really liked that you finished the article with A line skirts from the present, too. I think it’s funny how some articles go in and out of fashion, but others stay the course of time with very little variation.

    • So the skirts are actually not the different years…in fact, Nancy’s was bought just this year!! It’s us women who fit into those categories!! Funny, huh?

  • I love skirts in my casual everyday life because they sure beat shorts! A-lines really are a great silhouette and so forgiving. Love your plaid one , which will be so fabulous this Fall!

    • Thanks Tracey!! It’s funny because I’ve had this skirt for at least 10 years, so I don’t think to wear it often (I always want to wear “new” things!!)

      • I understand that wearing new things all too well, which is why I am about to start my year of no buying to really use what I own to their full potential.

        • Wow…that’s impressive. I know I should do that, I could do that (because I have plenty), but emotionally ????

  • MaryAnne

I’m with you, I wear skirts all the time in the summer. Much cooler than shorts. A skirt makes you feel put together and feminine. It doesn’t matter what the occasion a soft summer dress or skirt is so girly! Love that! You all look very nice.

    • I knew I liked you for a reason MaryAnne….you’re a girl after my own heart!!! Thanks for the kind words!
