Monday’s Amuse Bouche #7-Heated Toilet Seat

Amuse Bouche (ˈä-ˌmüz-ˈbüsh): literally translated into “mouth amuser”.  Wikipedia definition: a single, bite-sized hors d’oeuvre.

Jodie’s use of the term: a small hint or clever tip!  (Think Hints from Heloise!!)

Heated toilet seat

It may look like an ordinary toilet seat, but if you notice there is an electrical cord coming from it….it’s heated!!!  Okay….laugh if you must, but I think this invention is the best EVER…especially in the winter months!  Yes, better than a toothbrush and better than sliced bread in my opinion!  It heats the seat about 20 degrees more than the ambient room temperature!  It’s easy to use: just plug it into the wall when it’s cold, and unplug it in the summer (for me that’s about 2 months because our house is so cold).  The only drawback is if you have a separate toilet room with no electrical outlet.  Our answer to this problem was to call the electrician—so worth the money!

I purchased our first one (yes, we have two) over 10 years ago.  We have since had to replace the original one once (like I said, it stays plugged in for probably 10 months of the year).  I used to have to order it online but now I noticed it’s at Bed, Bath & Beyond (here) so you should be able to use your B, B & B coupons if you go to the store (depending on availability)!!!  Notice that mine is for a round toilet, so if you have an elongated toilet check out (here) or even Home Depot (here).

The cleaning of it is normal (just like a regular toilet seat…we use all the same products on it) and not squishy or padded like some toilet seats I’ve had in the past.  To me, this is heaven on earth!!

Thanks for reading.  This week the skirt will be the focal point of my blog.

This is funny! My sister-in-law bought a special “holiday” device for her downstairs powder room toilet. When you flushed the toilet the bowl lit up in red and green and played Christmas music. I do love the heated seats in my VW.

My car is so old that it doesn’t have heated seats. But you can bet your bottom dollar that when I get a new one—that’s the first thing I want!!
A warm rear is such a nice thing!!

If our house caught on fire, my heated toilet seat would be one of the top 5 things I would rescue on my way out the door! 🙂 People tend to look at me a little sideways when I tell them I have a heated toilet seat, but then once they’ve experienced it, they’re sold on it.

    • Ahhhh…..we are so alike!!! Where did you get yours? The amazing thing is I actually have one friend who doesn’t like it…inconceivable!

      • We ordered it from somewhere online about 8 years ago–I don’t remember where. I can’t imagine anyone not liking it. To me there are few things more jarring than a cold toilet seat!
