November Events

If someone asked you what you did this November, what would you say? I think it can be so hard to remember specific days and events when every day goes by in a flash, right? So I joined up with a couple of other bloggers to keep track of the month of November with a sentence and some photos. There’s a link up below if you’d like to see the other’s participating in this project, and a huge thanks for Leslie for organizing us!!

Designing Nancy's home in November

11-1: We spent over 3 hours figuring out the flooring, carpet and tile for Nancy’s new place. How can that be so exhausting, but it was?

11-2: Today we traveled to a holiday boutique to load up on gifts for others. I always believe in getting my shopping done early.

Massif Fashion Show in November

11-3: It must be the time for fashion shows because we were just included in our local boutiques fashion show last month, and tonight we went to a local one that included Brooks Luby.

November's bling

11-4: We visited my book club friend’s, annual open house at her jewelry design store! Both Rob & I came away with a little bling.

11-5: Meatloaf was made for my hubby, so that when I’m gone on my knitting retreat, he won’t starve. I know, I know—-he’s spoiled!!

11-6: And today was a trip to the chiropractor. I can sometimes tell I’m out of whack when I get a headache, and I had a doozy of one on Saturday.

11-7: For Nancy’s new place, we had a meeting with the construction manager. Interesting, and so informative.

Knit Day

11-8: Knitting day with my knitting buddies! Here is Dianna’s sweater for her grandson that she’s finishing up!

11-9: And we are off to Buena Vista for our knitting retreat with about 20 other women. We stop at the Cottonwood Hot Springs on the way to enjoy a good soaking.

11-10: Knitting, knitting and lots of fabulous inspiration from other knitters.

Liars Lodge Knitting Retreat

11-11: Ditto from yesterday. We’ve been gathering here for 16 years together!! And welcome, Michael, the new owner of Liar’s Lodge standing at the top of the stairs.

11-12: Back home from our knitting retreat at the Liar’s Lodge.

Book Club

11-13: So then I had book club at my house where I fixed chicken korma! We just finished the Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly and now we are going to read Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín.

11-14: Back to the design center with Nancy (the 60+ model) to finalize the choices for her new place.

11-15: Off to LA to meet with Catherine & Julie for our next Forever Fierce campaign!

11-16: This is proof positive that laughing is my favorite past time!! Catherine has the same infectious laugh that I do, and we had a blast.

11-17: This morning we left early for a fun photo shoot, and then were able to join Julie at Paramount Studios. This is Rob & I sitting on Forrest Gump’s bench!

11-18: Home again meaning lots to catch up on including laundry.

11-19: Blogging, organizing and that laundry thing again.

Pond on our Walk

11-20: Now that my hubby isn’t working anymore, I’m going to have to find a new schedule. We did make it out for a wonderful walk, and here was part of our experience.

11-21: I’m so lucky that one of my longtime friends is an aesthetician, so I get to visit her every couple of months and have her take care of my skin (and pick her brain for some upcoming products)!

11-22: A cooking we will go, a cooking we will go….I have the best hubby who doesn’t mind helping me with the cooking for our dishes for tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving

11-23: Happiest of Thanksgivings! I am thankful for my life in every way, shape and form. And that includes each and every one of you reading this.

11-24: Today is the day we like to put up our decorations and relax!

11-25: Small Business Saturday is our way to shop for the holidays. Since I used to be a small business owner, I always feel better if I can try to support other small businesses. So we ventured into downtown Littleton, and shopped at Act 2 Thrift store, EVOO Marketplace oils and Savory Spice.

Sunday dinner

11-26: We travelled up to Boulder to spend the day with my cousin and her family as a belated Thanksgiving!

11-27: Lunch with Stacey!! Definitely an advantage of being retired….

11-28: Rob is going to work on creating websites since he’s retired now. So we met with our friend who teaches ELDOA, to pick her brain on how she wants her website set up.

Paradise Baggage Presentation

11-29: I’ll be hosting a talk at Paradise Luggage about packing for the holidays next month. Today we went there to practice and check out the logistics.

11-30: A day without anything on the calendar means lots of catching up on blogging and trying to get organized!!

  • Hey Julie!
You are one busy lady but I love that you always, ALWAYS have a smile on your face. 🙂
Your knitting girls getaway looks like it was so much fun!!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a happy & healthy 2018. xoxo

    • Thanks so much Lindsay!!!
And it’s true about the smile—-that’s why I have so many wrinkles..haha!! But it’s worth it!

  • Nikki Gwin

Your months are so jam packed Jodie! Wow.
I love that poncho you area wearing in the photo with the luggage rack. Did you make it?
    🙂 gwingal

    • I didn’t make that poncho, Nikki!! I think that’s why I bought it because it’s more woven than knitted, so I don’t think I could do something like it!!!

  • What a full life you lead. I am huffing and puffing just reading about your November. Your complexion is truly lovely, Jodie. I bet having a BFF who’s an aesthetician is a blessing. I was having semi-regular (ok, had three) facials in 2016 but haven’t had even one this year.

The knitting retreat sounds delightful. Great photo of you and your comadres. Another great photo of you with Catherine. I can almost hear you both laughing. Love your graphic sweat shirt message, too!!

    • Thanks for all of the positive thoughts, Leslie. And you probably could hear us laughing—my laugh is far from quiet, and it echos everywhere!!

  • Dawn Lucy

Looks like an amazing month! So fun to see you and Catherine together!

Thanks for sharing with Fun Fashion Friday! Have the best weekend!

    Dawn Lucy

    • Thanks, Dawn!!!
It was such a blast to visit LA and be Fierce with Catherine!!!

  • Looks like you had a packed November! Hope better things are waiting for you in December 🙂

    Jessica |

  • It seems like you had a very busy November! These events seem like so much fun. You definitely surround yourself with some pretty incredible people! I hope December is even better for you.
Thank you for linking up this week!

    ~xo Sheree

    • Thanks Sheree!! It has been a wonderful month, and I am very blessed with friends!!

  • Well Jodie it looks and sounds like you had another wonderful and full month! It is so fun to see and hear about all the fun things you do! Happy Friday!

    • Thanks….I try to showcase the fun things because life is short, right?

  • Marisa Cavaleiro

It seems you have a lot of events… great pics…i love the one with the ladies…
    Xoxo from Portugal

    New look on the blogs

  • Haha, how did you ever find the time to work?? Haha, it s a joke. Sometimes I say that when someone asks me what I am doing during the day. You lead a wonderfull life, it seems, full with fabulous social events! It is really nice to read this serie every month!

    • I do wonder, Nancy…ha ha!!
I am very blessed with some fabulous friends and people in my life!!
Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!!

  • Nicole Mölders

Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party.

    • And thanks for hosting, Nicole!!
      Have a wonderful weekend!!

  • What a fun way to wrap up the month! 🙂 I take a lot of photos so if I’m late blogging an outfit and can’t remember everything I did on the day I wore it, I can look through my photos and remember, haha!

Hope you are having a good week so far and all your Christmas preparation is going well! I’m so behind with wrapping presents – need to do more this weekend!

    Away From The Blue Blog

  • I love these types of posts! Designing a new place is so exhausting! I love that poncho!

    • Thanks so much Laura!!
It’s such a fun way to remember the month!!

  • You and Rob are a dynamic duo, Jodie. “Life’s a box of chocolate”, as Forest Gump said. I enjoyed reading your November SaD. Have a fabulous December!

    • Thanks so much Natalie!!! We are blessed to have each other, and if we had a box of chocolates too—that’s even better..ha ha!!

  • Wearing a wonderful smile is the best outfit we can wear. Moreover having good friends to share our days is so important. Happy to see you have done so many things, Jodie.

  • sue

I just love your zest for life Jodie and you always make me smile! You’ve had another fabulous month and I love the way you connect with others. Can’t wait to read your December S.A.D. it should be very festive!

    • Thanks so much Sue!!!
I have found it so fun to meet other women and hear their stories—it just makes me smile!!

  • Wow! You have done so many things, a much more interesting month than mine indeed!

    • Thanks Ingrid!! And I doubt mine was more interesting…I just picked out the fun things to share–ha ha!!

  • Missy May

I haven’t read a full book in a long time. I’m not proud of that at all. Working on getting back to it. Ha!! That table got me drooling with all that yummy food. Everyone looks so beautiful too. Great post here Jodie.
Also on a side note, I’ve moved my blog to my own domain now. Unfortunately the process has made me loose all my comments on my posts. Please find the new link below. Thanks for the support.

    • What a bummer that you lost all of your comments on your posts. I know when I switched from Jetpack to Disqus, I lost mine too. I even had someone comment on a older post saying she was surprised there weren’t any comments.
I love having a book to read that I didn’t pick out–that’s the advantage of this book club. It makes me read things I would have never thought to read! Of course some aren’t great, but it’s all good!!
      Thanks Missy!

  • Cindy

Loved your blog! I just published my sentence a day too! Thanks for inspiring me!

    • Cool—I was just getting around to visiting everyone’s post. Did you add yours to the linkup?? It’s an easy way for us to support each other!!

  • Pauline Starsmore

Are they Yorkshire Pudding I see on your Thanks Giving table with roast beef

    • Well, Joy called them popovers. Is that the same thing? They were quite delicious!!!

      • Pauline Starsmore

Well Yorkshires are a pancake batter but cooked in the oven. mostly now they are as you had them, but as a child at home the batter was baked in one large baking pan that the meat had just been roasted in.My husband loves them we also put sausages in the batter and call it Toad in the Hole.

  • Yes.. we were. Are you tired yet?? LOL!!!

    • Robert Filogomo

Not yet! As long as there is food involved I am raring to go

  • Rebecca Saffer

What – November’s gone?? Where did it go? Your month’s activities were incredible and looked like so much fun. Good luck to Rob in his new endeavor. I have really come to count on your wonderful blog for a dose of sunshine in a world that frequently gets me down with its chaos, troubling news and violence. Thanks to you beautiful ladies for providing an oasis!

    • Wow, Rebecca!!! What an incredible comment to read.
And it’s funny you say that about a dose of sunshine, because I’ve always had that Pollyanna personality, and I do try not to dwell on the negative aspects. That’s probably why I can’t even stand to watch the news much anymore—it’s so depressing!!
Thanks so much for such an incentive to keep up the blog and having fun with it!!

  • Oh my gosh! I’m exhausted just reading about your month!!!

Very excited to hear Rob’s news…what a fun time for both of you!

Whatever beauty regimen you are following is a keeper…your skin looks lovely and you look so radiant and happy!!! While the rest of us are getting older you look like you should be blogging for the <40s!!!

    • Oh, you really are too kind Em!!
My rationale to your compliment is that when you look at my photos—all you see is my mouth and teeth, LOL!! There’s no focal point on my wrinkles, etc…..ha ha!! But it’s all good, and I try not to take myself too seriously!!!
It’s been the best thing ever to have Rob at home with me. We work so well together (just like when he managed my dental office). Hopefully, I will learn to balance my computer time a little better now to enjoy our time together too!!
      Thanks Em!!

  • jess

Busy times, Jodie! I like to be busy too. Sounds like a great time with your knitting group and home improvement places also leave me exhausted too. love the green on you in the one picture. Pretty!
    have a great day!
    jess xx

    • Thanks so much Jess!!
It’s so fun to get together with my knitters—-I treasure their friendship so much!

  • Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom

You had a lot of fun things happening in November!! I really love all of the social activities you do, you def. stay busy and have a lot of fun! You knitting retreat looks so fun. I wish I knew how to knit! Congrats on your husband’s retirement!

    • Thanks so much Carrie!!!
I have found so much enjoyment in knitting, but I want you to know that many of my “young” friends gave me such joking when I first started!!! They considered it a grandma hobby—then it became somewhat popular!! LOL!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

I’ve said it before, and November proves it, you are one busy bee, Jodie! I’ll be joining SAD for December and January. I’ve already started my daily sentences. Chronicling my daily activities is always an eye – opener.

    • It is such a fun activity, and I’ve really grown to love doing it!! Even my hubby loves reading it, and he experienced it with me…ha ha!!
I’m so glad you’re joining us for this next time, Terri!!!

  • Judy Gramith

Oh gee, I guess I didn’t actually miss this post; I just went a different route to it.:-)

  • Judy Gramith

How did I miss this one? Another fun month and an additional trip to L.A.! Please tell Rob that I like his two toned shoes from that trip. Please tell Nancy that I can sympathize with the fun and anxiety that are part of building a new home. Now that we feel 90% settled in our new home I’m amazed at how well all those choices worked out.
I was looking for the recent post with your multi hued hand knit sweater and print mixing. I hope you weren’t offended by all of the alternative top ideas I sent.
Just wanted to warn you that as a result of that conversation I have something to send you!

    • Oh, Jude!! There’s never a comment you make that doesn’t make me smile!!!
I am never offended by your suggestions—seriously! I absolutely love the idea of other’s input. To me that’s the best part of blogging.
It’s kinda like a recipe. If I make a new recipe and it turns out great—well then it’s no challenge and I rarely make it again. But if it doesn’t turn out, I’m all about trying to figure out why and making it better.
The same holds true to our outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when they look great. But I always think that we could change it up and find other ways to style the outfit!!! And you always have such great ideas!! (and are so generous in your gifts!!)
I will send this to Nancy, because it has been quite the process for her. But we are with her every step of the way—she calls us “her team”!!

  • How do you find time to read a book??!! Love the color scheme of Nancy’s new place. I want the poncho you are wearing in that last photo!!!

    • I know—I signed up for the book club when I first retired, and had plenty of time. But now–it’s a struggle some months. Luckily I read fast (and sometimes skim….shhhhhh, don’t tell)!!
      Thanks Darlene!!

  • Courtney Hardy

Sounds like a lot of fun!! I love all the photos you got.

  • Looks and sounds like you had an amazing November! Lovely photos and I have to agree that Hermosa is the best little beach town!

    xx, Elise

    • It was a crazy, November!!!
      Thanks Elise!!
Do you live in Hermosa?? It’s such a pretty town!!

  • looks like so much fun
    The Glossychic

  • Three hours to pick flooring…girl, girls, girls! I’m sure you all made an event out of it tho. Perhaps at some point we can collaborate on a virtual design post!-Laurel

    • We really needed you to help in our design outing. The woman assigned to us was somewhat helpful, but…..
However, I do love choosing these items. It’s Nancy that has a hard time visualizing!!
And of course we took blog photos after the event—ha ha!!!

  • Karen

I always enjoy the monthly posts! The retreat (among the other things) looks like it was in a beautiful place! I go on a scrapbook retreat every year and really look forward to it, beginning the moment I check out of the hotel after it’s over! Love Nancy’s choices for her home finishes!

    • Thanks so much Karen!!
I used to go to scrapbook retreats also….in fact, I still have a ton of the supplies, but I haven’t used them in ages. Do you make cards also??

      • Karen

Actually, I paint my Christmas cards. I do watercolors. Late start this year so they are going to have to be really simple!!

  • Such a lovely recap! A great and very busy month! Gemma x

  • Laura

What a great month for you! It looks like the knitting retreat was so much fun!

    • We always have such a wonderful time at our knitting retreat. Because as much as it’s about knitting, it’s also such a lovely group of women who have bonded over the years!!
      Thanks Laura!!

  • One jam packed month again Jodie! A fun one at that! xx

    • It really was—both jam packed and fun!!
      Thanks Laurie!
