I was approached by SIO Beauty to test out their new product. I’m sure it’s because I’m an ethical and great blogger and has nothing to do with my age group—ha ha!! But in all seriousness, these are products made to help smooth out the wrinkles on a woman’s decolletage. The company’s marketing is targeted especially to women who sleep on their side at night. It is said that side sleeping can cause extra wrinkles due to the forces of nature!!
Spoiler alert: there is a discount code at the bottom of the post if this is something you’d be interested in, whether for yourself or a gift!
Well I agreed to test it out with the thought that I’d try it out on my mother, Charlotte, (the 70’s model on my blog). And, she did use it. But two things: 1-after the second day, she broke out in a rash. My mother does have extremely sensitive skin. Case in point, I tend to get most of the new products that she buys because she ends up having some kind of sensitivity to them. 2-It’s amazing to me that my mother really doesn’t have any wrinkles on her decolletage! Even her “before” photo was very nice. She certainly had some dry skin patches, but nothing very dramatic. You would have thought I would have noticed this in all of the blog photos we take, but it just didn’t register. I sure hope I got her decolletage genes!!
Thus I had to go searching for another suitable model. Hence, meet my friend, Linda! The best part about using Linda is that she’s a licensed aesthetician (and yes, the person I see on a regular basis). So I thought it’d be extremely beneficial to get her insight into this product! You know, not only use her decolletage but also her brain!
I know when it comes right down to it, you really just want to see the photos—so here they are. If you are truly interested, keep reading below for Linda’s expert opinion about it!! Many companies will show their before & after photos on websites and pamphlets, but don’t you sometimes wonder if they are real? Well, trust me, this is real!
There really isn’t a ton of difference from the first day to the 5th day in my opinion.
The process is a 3 step procedure. First you use cleanser wipes to make sure your skin is well prepared. It is advised to let the area dry thoroughly before putting the pad on (they recommend 30 minutes). Then you place the pad on your skin and go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, you remove the pad and rub their serum on your chest area. The pad is meant to be reused 15 times.
The Reasoning & Insight
Now the low down from an expert (that’s Linda!). When she first looked at the ingredients in these products, she was pretty sure they would work because of the hyaluronic acid in it. Her description of hyaluronic acid is that it is the king of hydration. That and the fact that you are placing this hydration to stay on your skin overnight is part of what makes it successful. She also explained in much detail about wrinkles and how they affect your dermis. Needless to say most of that information went over my head!
Linda did report after the first night that it burned a little (she’s sure it’s because of the hyaluronic acid). She didn’t consider it terrible, but could understand if some people would want to take it off earlier. She actually was so impressed with the results that she texted me that she wanted patches for her legs, arms and entire body—ha ha (true story).
I was worried that using if for 5 days in a row would be too much, but she persisted for the sake of my blog readers! She reported after day 5 that her skin felt tender (like a sunburn). If she was going to continue it after that, she thought she’d take a few days off before starting again.
The Comparison & Long term
So I asked Linda, “Could you do this on your own without this product?” Her answer was no. But you could probably get the same result if you went for a series of chemical peels. She thought that 5 treatments at a salon which range from $85-110 each should do the trick. After hearing that, I realized why this product was so expensive.
And in case you’re wondering, I asked Linda how long these results lasted. It wasn’t until 9 days after stopping the regimen, that Linda said her skin wasn’t as soft and the tone looked like it did before using the product. Her opinion is that’s basically how long a light chemical peel lasts also. She is definitely a fan, because she told me she was going to start using it again for her holiday party this weekend!
Especially after seeing the fabulous results even on Day 1 for Linda, I could see how this might be a perfect way to spruce up your decolletage for an upcoming event. If you have a special party or wedding coming up and your dress happens to be somewhat low cut, this could be for you! Or if you want the results, but don’t want to spend the money at a salon, you could be the ideal SIO Beauty customer.
SIO Beauty has offered a $20 discount off the SiO SkinPad subscription order, for a promotional price of $49.95 each month (instead of $69.95). The discount code is JTOS20. What do you think? Is this an area that is on your wish list to change?
Thanks again for being part of my blogging world! I’m always looking for fabulous products & styles for women in our age groups!
