Quote of the day: “Live life to the fullest.” Ernest Hemingway

What most people don’t realize about Colorado is how many warmer than normal winter days we get in this fabulous state.  Even if there is snow on the ground, the sun will come out and raise the temperatures to a balmy 50 degress!   Due to this fact, there are many times a mid-range warmth coat is needed instead of the super heavy version. In this classification there seems to be a ton of choices for relatively good deals!  In this first of three posts, I’ll show the basic coat with something added for pizzazz!  I believe if you’re going to add all the accessories to make your coat look wonderful, you better make sure you’re wearing it to an outdoor event so you’re not taking it on & off.

50’s Moderate Weather Outerwear: I am such a sucker for white and I fell in love with this white coat at least 7 years ago.  It’s gotten somewhat dingy over the years even though it’s washable so I might have to dye it soon. When my white items get dirty, I always rationalize that it’s because the piece got a magnitude of use and therefore I got my money’s worth!  The scarf helps camouflage the dinginess factor.

60’s Moderate Weather Outerwear: Nancy loves this coat so much that the lining has had to be replaced at least twice.  I thought a nice fur scarf would add zest to the ensemble and the red gloves would give coloring to the otherwise neutralness.

70’s Moderate Weather Outerwear: Brown tends to be a good color for the fair haired like mother and I.  The pink scarf adds lightness to the overall darkness of the ensemble.
You can see how using even a silk scarf can transform almost any jacket, like I did here with a black puffer coat
