How to Give your T-Shirt Glam by Pairing it with a Skirt

Quote of the day: “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.” Pastor Steven Furtick

And another way to improve the look of your boxy t-shirt is to glam it up by wearing a skirt.  A skirt for the warmer weather months, is a perfect way to stay cool.  And you might think it silly to wear a skirt with a t-shirt since they could be considered opposites.  However, this dichotomy of elements can make the look quite modern.

Since all of our t-shirts featured are solids, I opted for print skirts for this example; however, a solid skirt would work just as well.  If you missed the earlier posts, we wore the same t-shirt with a jacket and with a scarf.

Style & Fashion for Women over 50. T-shirt & Skirt T-Shirts for the 50's, 60's, & 70's.

50’s T-Shirt:  This outfit reminds me of a safari look. It must be the animal print skirt and the olive green and red together. (I think I needed to size up on my t-shirt…oops)

60’s T-Shirt:  These tan mules cover a good portion of the foot.  To me, this offsets the fact that the skirt is on the shorter side.

70’s T-Shirt:  My mom made this skirt out of drapery material. She figured if Scarlet O’Hara could do it, so could she!

Mom picked this owl necklace since it’s longer and the t-shirt is solid colored! I thought it was a good selection to incorporate the brown of the shoes & earrings!! Not only have we spruced up the t-shirt with a skirt, but then we also added in another color scheme.

As our society has embraced the casual t-shirt, I’ve tried to find ways to glam it up! Since wearing a skirt is considered dressier, then this combination could be perfect!

Thanks to you all! I really appreciate all of your support and comments!

A cotton t-shirt in summer is very comfortsble! Your selection is very nice and the red sandals are great! Olive green and red go perfect together…

  • That is a good quote, and it feels exceptionally relevant right now with the way social media has evolved to rule our lives and all we care about is creating that perfect ‘highlight reel’,

Love your mom’s DIY skirt – it’s a perfect summery print.
