 Holiday Collaboration for 4 Generations.

Holiday Styles for 4 Generations From Nancy’s Perspective

Holiday Collaboration for 4 Generations.

It’s that time again when Sherry, from Petite Over 40, is joining us in a Fab Collab. This time we’re going to take you back to our holiday memories and the clothing we wore for the occasion. If you missed the earlier versions, you can see Sherry’s (the 40’s model) history here, and Jodie’s (the 50’s model) story here

Nancy’s Story about her Christmas Picture Memories

One of our family traditions ever since I was married to Jodie’s father was to go to the Figgy Pudding Party at our church.  It is a concert of Christmas music and fun dialogues with a delicious dessert during the intermission made by our host or hostess, who happens to be performing in the program.  It is always the first weekend in December and is a perfect way to start off the Christmas season and gets us into the holiday spirit. Needless to say, they don’t serve figgy pudding at the party. They tried the first couple of years, but it went over like a lead balloon! But the name stuck!

Holiday Collaboration for 4 Generations.

We always dress up in our holiday finery to add to the wonderful mood of the evening.   We often invite guests to join us, as is the case in this photo which was taken quite a few years ago as you can see by some of the different looks of the three ‘models’ in the picture. I am front and center with the red, sparkly Christmas sweater on. Man, my hair was quite short. Jodie (the 50’s model) is in the front on the right. The year had to be 2013, so don’t let her tell you she stopped wearing Christmas sweaters before that! And then Charlotte (the 70’s model) is in black right behind Jodie. That was before Charlotte had let the grey reside in her hair!

Jodie always brings her camera so we can document all of our gatherings and I love having these photos to relive so many wonderful moments.

Nancy’s (60’s) Present Day Outfit: Since Nancy’s story was focused on the Figgy Pudding Party, I decided to have her recreate what she wore this year for the event!

Holiday Collaboration for 4 Generations.

As we’ve heard time and time again, leggings can be worn by any aged woman!! I feel like these were definitely a great way to showcase this fun sweater. The earrings are the perfect bling & color for Christmastime!!

Holiday Collaboration for 4 Generations.

The sweater actually has this very subtle sparkle in it (just on the front portion), but I couldn’t seem to show it in the photographs. I love how Nancy used a snowflake brooch in the middle of her collar!

And the different orientations of the ribbing pattern on the front of the tunic is so very flattering and slimming!

Christmas memories and our style then & now

Wasn’t it so nice of Mother Nature to decorate the evergreen trees for our photos? It’s like a winter wonderland!

  • Kathleen McDermott

Nancy looks adorable. Always love red. And snowflakes. I have a huge collection of snowflake jewelry because I can never resist a new piece.

    • I do like the snowflakes…maybe even better than other holiday pieces because they work for all winter!!
      Thanks Kathleen!

  • I have to say that Nancy is one of the most vivacious women I’ve ever come across, Jodie. She seems to sparkle with energy and vitality, with a huge love of life 🙂 and I must also confess that I really do like how in the West, divorced couples maintain such civility and cordiality. Where I come from, it’s usually awkward silence and heaven forbid that the ex and the new should ever come across each other in the one same social event. How old-fashioned Asians can be 🙂 xoxo

p/s I love seeing Nancy in red, it truly is her colour.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I have to admit that I was very lucky that my mom and dad kept up civility after the divorce. It made my life so much easier in the long run! But as Nancy always says, she married a different man than my mom did….luckily he changed for the better over the years!!
We love Nancy in red also! 🙂

      • I wish that too were the case between myself and Eve’s Dad but alas, he is Asian, and thus, we maintain an awkward silence. It is what it is 🙂

  • Melissa

Beautiful! Loving the boots and the red of course

    xo

Doesn’t this look so great on Nancy? We were talking the other day, and she was saying that she thinks she’s been buying her clothing too big. This sweater is a newer one, and I think it fits so much better than many of her older ones.

  • What a nice memory! Great photo of all of you!

I really like Nancy’s red sweater with the snowflake brooch.

I love how Nancy thought to put the brooch right in the middle like that!!

  • I enjoyed reading Nancy’s trip down memory lane and seeing the photo. So funny about her telling on you and Christmas sweaters! I really like her modern take on her holiday look.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Jennie!!
I really did like Nancy’s outfit when we went to our party, so I thought it’d be perfect to share!!

  • Nicole Mölders

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. Happy holidays and a happy New Year.

  • I am a huge fan of red for Christmas! It’s such a joyful colour! I admire the creativity of Christmas sweaters (Jodie’s green one with the ribbons and bow to look like a present is such a great idea). Church concerts and parties are something I always look forward to. Cameras capture the moments; thanks for sharing your memories with us!

Thank you for the photo at the figgy pudding party! You all look sooooo nice … have a wonderful Christmastime this year too!
We had a little snow here two days ago. A snowy landscape is the perfect background at this time of the year, isn’t it?
A big hug to the three of you!!!

  • PetiteOver40

Jodie, please pass along to Nancy how fabulous she looks in that sweater! It was totally made for her! From the color to the shape to the neckline, even to the texture of the sweater — it just looks great on her! And I LOVE that her story is connected to the figgy pudding song. How can you not smile saying the words “figgy pudding”? Go ahead…say it. You smiled, didn’t you? 🙂

    Hugs all around!

I, too, thinks she looks spectacular in this outfit—and she put it together herself!! Huh…I guess that means, she doesn’t need me anymore… 🙁
      XOXO

Ha ha! Never, Jodie! Just like me, Nancy will always need you. 🙂

        Hugs!

I love Nancy’s outfit! Very flattering! I will be heading to the thrift store with a friend next week for their last Wednesday of the month half off sale and am hoping to find some sweaters of this length. Might have to find something in a similar color!

Ohhhh…have a fabulous time shopping Mireille!!
Thanks for the continued support and wonderful comments—the three of us really appreciate it!
      And Happy Holidays!!

  • Judy Gramith

The photo of all of you at the figgy pudding party is really great!! I think photos of holiday events carry an extra significance because of the *gathering* of our loved ones and the magical moments of togetherness potential that happen.
Nancy you look fabulous in your red sweater and leggings and that snowflake is perfection in it’s simplicity. We are both in our 60’s and so I feel some extra kinship with you. I have to say that you have such a cherubic, cuteness in your facial structure and that you’ve retained that is of course genetics but I suspect your personality reflects some of that too! Happiest of Holidays to you and your family and Thankyou for the figgy fun of your Christmas story!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I forwarded this wonderful comment to Nancy….thanks so much for joining in on the conversation and being such a fabulous part of our blog, Jude!!

      • Nancy Nagy

Thank you for your lovely comments, Judy. I have always had what I call a ‘baby face’ but I like your description better!! I will now think of it as cherubic (even on days when I am not so much!). I love getting dressed up! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  • Nancy is killing it in this outfit!! Loving the red sweater and leggings. Also, great throw back photo.
