Turtlenecks for the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s: With a Vest

Quote of the day: “Wisdom and understanding can only become the possession of the individual men by travelling the old road of observation, attention, perseverance, and industry.”  Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Again we visit the essential turtleneck as a layering piece.  It’s specifically perfect with any vest because you can actually show off some of the turtleneck and yet use that talent of layering!  I think of layering as higher education for your clothes.  The basic outfit, consisting of only a shirt & pants (ok…and shoes), is pretty elementary, but once you start layering items, it adds a touch of purpose and intelligence.  Wearing a turtleneck does allow you to hide any number of thin shirts underneath it for warmth!  Even if you’re not looking for more heat, it’s nice to layer a short sleeve t-shirt under it so only the t-shirt needs washing.  Visit Styling Discussion 1 & 2 for more options of outfits with these same turtlenecks!

50’s Outfit: This vest gets showcased due to the fact that the turtleneck is neutral so there is quite a contrast between vest & turtleneck.  This outfit would definitely work in a business casual environment.
