Tweed Jacket for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Casually Dressed Version

Tweed Jackets for women in their 50's, 60's, & 70's.

Quote of the day: “What is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Anna Quindlen

I love throwing a blazer on with my jeans for running errands or shopping! It’s a better fit than a windbreaker and not as hot as a parka. Because who really wants to be taking their jacket on and off at the stores? And do I really need something super heavy when I’m only outside for one minute going from the car to the store and back? Don’t get me wrong…I love wearing my coats, but only when it’s needed!  So back to this week’s theme of our tweed jackets. I paired them for a smart look (here) and now styled them casually.

50’s Tweed Jacket: Mom commented that the hat might be overpowering me. I was hoping it’d keep out all the UV rays. What do you think?

If you’re a real tweed lover, than here’s some shoes to check out —those Kohl’s ones are my favorite–(even more on my facebook page):

  • Kathleen McDermott

Oh tweed, beautiful tweed! Such a polished look. I have tweed shoes in many colors but nary a tweed jacket (though I do have a coat). Must get some for Spring.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’m shocked you don’t have a tweed jacket! The thrift stores are usually full of them in the winter…if you don’t mind resale shops??

      • Kathleen McDermott

I used to have a few but donated them when they no longer fit! I love consignment stores – for anything, but especially for jewelry, scarves and purses. I don’t shop full price ever and “pre-worn” is not an issue for me. Now I want to try my hand at hardcore thrifting at a few Goodwills I’ve scoped out – never done that before. Want to find some refashion projects.

        • Jodie Filogomo

Maybe you need to be starting your own blog, Kathleen!!
Either that or I could showcase some of your creations?? But seriously, if you ever want to start a blog, I’d be happy to help!
You have some fabulous ideas, I bet?!! 🙂

  • Dawn Lucy

I’m feeling totally inspired to pull out my tweed jacket! And shop for some cool tweed shoes too! All you lovely ladies look beautiful!

Thanks so much for being a part of Fun Fashion Friday!

Thanks for hosting Dawn!! I love my tweed jacket…but I do have to remember to wear it…I tend to reach for my leather jacket first!!

  • Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style.

  • Even though tweed moves in and out of fashion, I feel like it’s a fabric that’s so timeless. I can see from your roundup of outfit photos and product photos that it’s something designers reinvent again and again, season after season. What I love most about it is that it comes in so many palettes, so you can coordinate with solid colors to really make them pop out of the tweed fabric. And I adore those monochrome heels from Amazon!

  • I’m part of the Tweed Brigade and love all the takes. Those shoes! Think I am heading over to Kohls to see if they are still around! HaHa

    • Jodie Filogomo

Oh…I’ll be so jealous if you get them….email me a picture of you wearing them…I so want them, but my closet is bursting (and I’m supposed to be on a financial diet–ugh).

  • I do love tweed, but I have to agree with Doreen in the comments: the shoes!! 🙂 Especially the ones with the pink toes! Adorable.

    • Jodie Filogomo

There’s a lot of us “shoe girls” out there, huh? I mean really….what’s not to like? Thanks for reading Wendy!!!

  • doreenmcgettigan

All three looks are adorable but I am in those with the shoes, all of them!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      You’re a shoe girl, too, huh? There’s a couple more featured on my Facebook page—if you’re a size 6, 7, or 9–the Shoebuy ones are only $14!!

  • The Style Crone

The three of you look beautiful in tweed! I love your hat, Jodi, which you wear with confidence. Thank you so much for sharing with Hat Attack!

  • Lorena Lorena

For me tweed is a true classic and can never go our of style – it makes any outfit just have an air of sophistication. Nicely done ladies 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Lorena!! I think I like them better now that I’m older—I used to think they were too professorish!

  • Tweed jackets are so classic.

Personally I love the hat, but I love hats.

    bisous

    • Jodie Filogomo

As long as I don’t look super crazy in the hat, I’m good with it!!

  • Bernadette Laganella

Love the tweed jackets over jeans. My all time favorite look in the fall. I hate to disagree with Mom but the hat is very becoming.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’m glad to hear you say that Bernadette because I didn’t think it was too big when I bought it—then again, I have a different perspective! So it’s nice to have another opinion!

  • Uh oh…now your mom is making comments about your styling?? Pretty soon the blog is going to be called Mom’s Touch of Style! Hahaha #watchyourback JUST kidding! 😉 I do have to say though…your mom’s look is my favorite today! #teammom
