White for the Lower Half 1 (Business)

White for the lower half of your body

White for the Lower Half for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Business Look

Quote of the day: ” The secret of having it all is believing you already do.” Karolina Kurkova

Even though we’ve been told it’s okay to wear white in the winter, some of us older women still have trouble with the concept.  Thus, since it’s summer, now is the perfect time to pull out our white pieces that we wear on the lower half of our bodies and decorate ourselves for every occasion!  The office setting will be the first in this series.

50’s White for the Lower Half: I’ve worn this wrap blouse many times when I was working. I think it’s a nice alternative to a short-sleeved jacket.

60’s White for the Lower Half: Nancy is not a fan of tucking in her blouses; however, I had her tuck in her blouse to show how you would wear this outfit for the office. I feel it looks more polished don’t you?

I found some wonderful white skirts/pants that would be perfect for the office (all under $40):

  • Kathleen McDermott

Again, all beautiful. Nancy looks great with this blouse tucked – the diagonal and vertical lines are so flattering. I could wear white every day in the summer and never tire if it. (And I love white jeans in cool and cold weather styled with sweaters and boots.) P.S. Love your necklace and Charlotte’s necklace and shoes.

This is why we get along so well, Kathleen!!
I feel exactly the same way about white—you should wear it all year long in my opinion!!

  • white pants or skirt always seems hard for me to style but you did a lovely job !
Thank you for linking up to Wearing with Wisdom

    • Thanks Leticia….I’m such a sucker for white as it seems so clean & crisp! Thanks for hosting!!

  • White is so nice for Summer and is so versatile. I embrace white in all seasons and love feeling like the rule breaker , breaking them for my mother and grandmother’s generation and feeling them cheering me on…

    • And I love to think we’ll be the new “no rule” generation!! Thanks Tracey for your input!!

  • Suzanne

As always, you all look very nice! I’ll have to agree with the reader who suggested Nancy’s top be left untucked. Somehow with white pants, there just seems to be too much white without the balance of a longer top. That’s probably just odd thinking on my part, but just my thoughts. Tops never used to be untucked, I know!

    • I vacillated with this decision since Nancy is short-waisted. But I was hoping it’d look like she had longer legs this way!! Live and learn!

I certainly didn’t mean what I wrote to be critical; just engaging in the discussion. You have great ideas!

        • I totally didn’t take it critically…i love hearing other’s points of view…it makes it so much more interesting!!! So keep your insights coming!!!!

  • Nancy Siegel

Jodie, I love your outfit–it looks beautiful on you. Love Nancy and Charlotte’s outfits too, but I would like to see that blouse out rather than tucked in on Nancy. I think it would make her look taller. What great shoes and jewelry you all have. A.N.

    • Thanks for the input Aunt Nancy. I hear what you’re saying about leaving the blouse out, but don’t you think then it looks a little sloppy….especially for work? Maybe I’m off the mark?

  • All three looks are cute! I’m with Nancy…I NEVER tuck my shirt in…lol She looks good with hers tucked in though. 🙂

    • How come you never tuck in? I think it can be a nice look at times? I’ll tell Nancy you like it, because she doesn’t!!!

      • My stomach is where I carry all my weight. I leave my shirt untucked to hide that fact.

        • Weight schmeight!!! I could be a smart ass and say I carry mine in my chest and I cover them, yet they still stick out!! ps…i’ve never noticed any extra weight around your stomach so either you’re doing a great job hiding it or you’re imagining things!!! Thanks for always commenting…I look forward to our “dialogue”!

  • All lovely outfits Jodie. Love your necklace and yes your mum’s shoes are the bomb!! xo

  • wow great
