White for the Lower Half 3 (Casual)

White for the lower half of your body

White for the Lower Half for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: The Casual Look

Quote of the day: “If someone says: ‘That’s impossible’, you should understand it as: ‘According to my very limited experience and narrow understanding of reality, that’s very unlikely.”  Paul Buchheit

Many women I talk to don’t love white pants or skirts because of the worry of getting them dirty.  It’s true that the stains show up easier on a white background, but it’s also a great justification to go buy a new item!  Or when the stains on the white garment are at the point of no return just dump some RIT dye in a bucket with your piece of clothing, and ta da…you have a different colored article of clothing!  You can see white styled for the bottom half of your body for work (here) and dressy (here).

50’s White for the Lower Half: This is one of the first bracelets I’ve owned as an adult thanks to Sharon! As a dentist, a dangling bracelet is likely to hit the patient in the nose…not good for business!!

It’s such a joy to know you’re reading my blog….thanks!  Are you a white item lover or hater?

Here’s some casual white items to wear (and all under $30 in case they do get stained….then you don’t feel so guilty)

  • Kathleen McDermott

Love all looks head to toe. I have multiple pairs of white shorts, capris and pants (skirts and dresses too). They look good on everyone as long as they fit properly. Such a classic look. Nothing looks cooler and fresher in hot weather.

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s exactly what I think too, Kathleen. Yet do you know how many women comment that they don’t wear white because of staining and spills? It surprised me beyond belief the first time!!

I wouldn’t wear a white top to cook or entertain in. That’s my only limitation. Stains can dealt with and you just launder bottoms more frequently!

I always love white, especially in summer! Of course it easily get dirty, but white cotton clothes also are very easy to clean…
Very nice white shorts on you and really cute bracelet!

  • You all look fantastic! White pants (or skirt) look chic, I’ve always loved this look. I have pictures ready for posting in white capris/pedal pushers – casual, playful and fresh. A know some fashionistas are against such length and consider it unattractive, but I’ve always liked capris!

Funny about hitting your patients with your bracelets. :)))

    • I think capris (any color) can work…it all depends on the style & cut (and fit, of course)!! Can’t wait to see yours!!

  • Jodie, I used to shy away from white on the bottom since my bottom half was…Titanic in size 😉 But since losing 60# over the last year, I’ve purchased a couple of white bottoms (dress capri’s and some casual shorts). There’s still that fear of stains but I’m enjoying wearing my summer whites again; even though I have glaringly white legs I’m not letting that hold me back. Thanks for these fun styles.

    • Glad to hear about your weight loss—congrats…it’s hard work!! My legs match my white pieces too, but I always think about the blessings…at least I have legs, right?

  • You make a great point. I used to shy away from buying white but am very attracted to how it looks. That’s reason enough to second-guess my first instinct. Good post.

    • Thanks!! I think it’s a great look for all of us!!!

  • Suzanne

I’m really enjoying this series of styling white on the bottom! You all look so nice! I love white pants. I have Old Navy white jean capris and linen pants, Liz Claiborne white jeans from Penney’s, as well as a pair of white dress ankle pants, also from Penney’s. I’ve had a white skirt for a long time, but I don’t wear it often. I’m very fair-skinned, and I’m not fond of my white legs, I guess!

    • I used to feel the same way about being pale….I’m trying hard to embrace it ( along with my curly hair)!! It’s nice to hear someone else who likes white as much as I do!!!

  • Jean Ann

Jodie I love Nancy’s outfit and yours is a close second!

    • Thanks Jean Ann….that’s one of my faves of Nancy’s !!!
