Adding your Denim Jean Jacket to a Dress

Style is Ageless with your Denim Jackets

Adding your Denim Jean Jacket to a Dress

Quote of the day: “You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” Zig Ziglar

To many of you, the thought of wearing your denim jean jacket over a dress seems silly! The jacket is a casual, masculine item while your dress is relatively fancy and feminine! But that’s the whole idea of this trick. It’s that yin/yang or opposites attract idea!!

Really your jean jacket is one of those clothing items that goes with everything. Just earlier, I showed how you can easily break up a monochromatic outfit by throwing a jean jacket on! But you tell me, what’s your favorite way to wear it?

Donna (Blogette): I was so excited when Donna sent me this photo of herself in her denim jacket and dress.

She had just commented on our dresses from VIPme post, that she had bought quite a few new dresses recently.  And then after guessing that I was going to combine our denim jackets with a dress, she wore this outfit to work yesterday!! I just love it when you readers send me your photos!!

Reader's photos

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: When I think of my jean jacket, I rarely think of it as part of my outfit.

It’s usually a last minute decision as I run out of the house! But since I would be using it like a blazer for this post, I decided to wear it with my slip dress. I just recently discovered this dress in my closet and have been trying to wear it more. I wore it here with my tweed jacket over it and here with my cardigan under it!

If you told me that I would be wearing a slip dress over the age of 50 a year ago, I would’ve told you that you were crazy! And I certainly don’t believe that we have to indulge in every new trend out there. But the fact is, that if you already have one in your closet, then why not wear it this way?

Fashion for Women over 50

Since the dress seemed somewhat fancy, I though another way to make it more casual was the shoes!

The espadrilles are truly a summer favorite shoe for all women. If you happen to be missing this essential item then let me be your influencer. Since wedges are usually a good heel for most of us, let me start with these or these. But if you are a true flats person, then these or these are just as cute!

Denim and slip dresses for older women

Not that I needed to add in another trendy item, but I have been loving the choker necklaces lately.

Maybe because I seemed to have missed out on them the first time around? And some of you may balk at the idea of cutting off your neck with a piece of jewelry!

I can understand that, really, I can. But they are so gosh darn eye catching and inexpensive! Like this one would really bring the attention to your face instead of any other part of your body! Or if you like the wild items, then this one is grrreat (and reversible) !!

Stylish looks for women 50+

As for a little story about my jean jacket.

I’ve had this one for at least 10 years. When I bought it, I didn’t want the normal style that everyone else had, so I snatched this one up at Nordstrom Rack! If you look closely, you can see this white stain by the lower pocket. I have no idea what it is, and it won’t come out! I’ve vacillated with giving it away, but now I’m thinking about adding some embroidered patches! What do you think?

Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: The funny thing is both my mom and Nancy chose their white dress for this outfit.

And the white dress is the perfect dress for the summer. That’s why the three of us styled them last summer here, here & here! And really, all of those outfits from last year would look just as great this summer, don’t you think?

60+ Women looking stylish

Nancy chose this unique necklace to pair with the outfit.

The good think about a unique item, is that not everyone else has one just like you. The bad thing, is it makes it hard to show you similar items, ha ha!! But if you like red flowers, then this one might work. Or if it’s the fact that it’s longer, and you don’t mind green, then this one is fun!

Styling Tips for Women over 60

There was the worry that this color combination might look too Fourth of Julyish.

And I can see why that would come to mind, but I do think it’s not the obvious red, white and blue. Besides, living in America, I guess it’s not bad to wear our colors in our outfits!

But there are other colors for denim jackets! This one comes in seven different colors! And this one is in a moto style and pink. (I would have bought this in a second if it came in my size)

Mixing Styles is fun for 60+ women

Red sandals are truly a perfect color for a summer shoe!

We all wore red sandals 2 years ago and tried to style them in a variety of ways!! For those of you who already have red sandals, what’s your favorite color to wear them with? If you don’t have a pair, I’m here to help! This pair and this pair are relatively basic, but here’s some with a little more pizzazz!!

Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit: Sometimes my mom knocks my socks off!!

Like with this hi-low hem dress! She made this dress probably 5 years ago, back before the hi-low hems were really huge! Now if you’re wondering why you’d even want a dress with this kind of hem, I know what you mean. But it sure can add some fun interest to the dress. And besides, I always consider that the longer portion could be cut off down the road.

There are some other dresses with this hem that you may like. This one incorporates stripes which are everywhere right now! And this one reminds me of the one Nancy just received from

Style for Women over 70

My mom chose yellow as her color of choice for her accessories and shoes!

I know mom loves this shade since her entire kitchen is also yellow!! But even if you’re not the hugest fan of yellow, it certainly lightens up even the darkest outfits. I mean check out these earrings or these. Don’t they just make you smile?

Women 70+ Looking Stylish

And here’s a little secret about this denim jacket!

It was actually purchased in the boy’s department. I don’t always think of it myself, but it is smart to scour other departments for your clothing items. You may not realize it but the men’s, boy’s & girl’s areas can have some items that work for you too!!

In fact one reader was just commenting that she bought a cute flower accessory at TJ Maxx not realizing it was a dog collar!! Now isn’t that funny? But she took the cute flower off of it and attached a pin to the back to create a brooch! That’s what I call creative!!

Making your closet more modern for older women

My mom doesn’t love wearing flats with her dresses, but I think these yellow shoes look great!

We bought these peep toe, yellow sandals last year, and I’m surprised they are still available now! And I almost think yellow sandals are as versatile as red ones! Just look here, aren’t these fun? Or for those of you who want a little sassiness in your shoes, these would fit the bill!

Now that you’ve seen 3 examples of using your denim jean jacket over different types of dresses, are you convinced it might work?

    • Jodie Filogomo

They really are essential, aren’t they?? I have so many jackets that I feel like I forget my jean one many times!!

  • Hannah Adkins

I think that denim jackets are one of those things that can be tailored to about any age at any style. You ladies all look so fabulous. Also, unrelated, but whoevers little wishing well/rock garden that is, its awfully cute and I want it lol

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Hannah!!
Isn’t that wishing well so cute? It’s my mom’s neighbors but it’s usually in the sun so we don’t take photos around it!!

  • I LOVE the combo of a denim jacket and a dress. All 3 of these looks are so pretty. I especially love the yellow shoes/earrings on your mom’s look. I also love the classic red/white/blue combo.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Shea!!
I think this is something that both mom & Nancy will wear on their own!! And that’s a good thing!! 🙂

  • Queen of Rods

Gee Jodie, I learned from you that I could put a brooch over something that I wanted to hide on a piece of clothing…denim jacket light spot issue solved 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

Well, aren’t you the smart cookie, Janet?? 🙂
I’ll blame the ability not to come up with that solution on old age! Ha ha!!
That’s why it’s good I have you guys around—to keep remembering everything!!!

  • Ruth Maldonado

Denim jackets are such a great piece of clothing to have. I love mine and wear it year round. I think it’d be cute to add an embroidery patch to that jacket since they are trending right now!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks so much Ruth!! These jackets are so versatile, aren’t they??
      Have a fabulous weekend!!

Jodie I love this unique combo! I would never have thought of pairing these items together, but they look great! Thanks for linking up with #TuneInThursday yesterday. See you next week!

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s what my mom said to me too, Debbie!! But I think it’s definitely a modern take on the items!!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Everyone looks adorable in their denim jackets! When I bought mine, I remembering thinking how expensive I thought it was. That was 10 years ago and it’s still looking great. Now the price doesn’t look bad at all!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Everyone looks adorable in their denim jackets! When I bought mine, I remembering thinking how expensive I thought it was. That was 10 years ago and it’s still looking great. Now the price doesn’t look bad at all!

    • Jodie Filogomo

That is such a great point Penny!! Thanks for saying that, because truly the classic items get worn for so long that they become a deal!!

  • The jacket works well with all three dresses X #ablogginggoodtime

    • Jodie Filogomo

  • Debbie Stinedurf

I’m pretty sure that a denim jacket is a good idea with just about anything! I remember seeing that dress on you before; I loved it then and I love it now. It’s so perfect paired with the more casual elements.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I think you’re right Debbie—what wouldn’t the denim jacket look good with??
I just have to remember to pull it out more often—I have so many jackets, that it gets neglected much of the time! #FirstWorldProblems
Thanks for the love on the dress—I do think this is a perfect way to make it work for everyday!! At least I’m finally wearing it more!

  • I love denim and have just bought a longer styled linen/denim jacket that I’m wearing lots. Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉

    • Jodie Filogomo

They are a great jacket, right, Catie??

  • Look at me, Jodie. Can’t get enough of your fashion ideas and I think a big part of it (besides your enthusiasm and excellent writing) is how adorable you three women are. I love all the outfits. I think Nancy’s is my favorite and I didn’t think of 4th of July at all. The pale blue denim jacket is perfect and the snappy red accessories make the outfit pop.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Oh, Molly!! I can’t tell you how much this comment means to me!
Because I know that many women aren’t “into” fashion like I am….but in reality, everyone still has to get dressed every day! So giving inspiration, is my goal!!
Have a fabulous weekend and thanks again!!

  • kate

These outfits look great! It shows that a denim jacket looks good on anyone, with the right styling. #FabFridayPost

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Kate!!

  • Anna Marcus

I so much love what you are wearing Jodie. Your dress is very pretty and by wearing denim jacket and espadrilles, you completely changed its look from fancy to edgy. Very nice

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Anna!! I think this is my favorite pairings with this dress lately! It seems so fresh!

  • ADA

The denim jacket hits again and looks so good over ALL of your dresses. Funny story Jodie, about 15 years ago I owned a dress almost identical to yours (same length too) and I remember wearing it to one of the captain’s dinners at a cruise I went to with my BF at the time.

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s so funny, Ada! So did you give the dress away? Because this dress was actually my friend’s dress. When she passed away, I inherited it, and it’s been in the back of my closet, unloved for years!!
      Thanks & happy weekend!!!

  • Wow! Gorgeous dresses and perfect denim jackets. 🙂 Congrats for wearing it like a pro. 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Cathy!!

  • Love this denim jacket over a dress. It is such a luxe way to dress up and down any look. I really love all these inspirational photos here with some great style 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Heather!! I do think this is my favorite way to wear the jacket lately!!
      Happy Weekend! 🙂

  • I keep saying it but I love wearing my denim jacket with all outfits! I love how well a denim jacket finishes off a casual dress look

    • Jodie Filogomo

I really think I should wear mine more now!! I think it really gives off a fun look!!
      Thanks Michelle!!

  • mummabstylish

Love all of these looks, you really can’t go wrong with a jean denim jacket, my daughter nicked mine the other week and wore it nearly every day for a week, eventually buying her own! Hope you’re well Jodie. x Jacqui

    • Jodie Filogomo

You’re such a good mother to have let your daughter wear yours!!
Sometimes I even borrow my husbands, when I want on oversized look!!

  • Rebecca Saffer

Jodi – question please. I would love to know how you are able to coordinate and put together such innovative and inspiring outfits for 3 people so frequently?? Do you plan the blog posts on a weekly basis and go over various possible outfits with Nancy and your mom? Each of blog offering contains outfits so well thought out with lovely details and I am really impressed!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Rebecca—that is the nicest question ever!! Thank you for the compliment in it.
I do actually plan months ahead for what I think I’m going to style (although there are times it gets changed).
I go over to my mom’s twice a month and we take photos for 2 weeks worth of posts. Then the next week I’ll go to Nancy’s and do the same. My husband takes mine usually on the weekends when we are out and about!!
But it is something I think about a lot when I’m planning the styles….I try to figure out the best ways to present the items, although making mistakes is part of the process. I’m also trying to let mom & Nancy choose their own outfits most of the time—although I tell them that I get veto power—ha ha!!
I really appreciate your thoughts and comments!!
I will admit that for this summer, I will only be showing the 3 of us twice a week. I’m trying to take a blogging class, so I’d like to work on it more and update some of my older posts!! However, I may squeeze a miscellaneous post in every now and then.
I love hearing what everyone likes and dislikes, so please, please, let me know!!

  • Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom

I am always adding a denim jacket to my dresses! I get cold easy and I love the look it gives, too! I really love how your denim jacket has a simpler design without the extra baggage of a collar around the neck! So sleek! Y’all look great!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Carrie!!
They really do go with everything, right? I just have so many jackets to choose from that I forget it sometimes!!

  • I’ve never been a big fan of the denim jacket Jodie, but looking at it in your pics certainly shows that it can make a dress look a lot more sassy and even a bit edgy – you might convert me yet!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I think I felt this way back in the day too, Leanne. Which is why I ended up with one that was different. I think they looked too boxy to me, which is how I felt about the bomber jackets too! However, I’m over that—ha ha!!

  • I think I’ve said it before, but I look forward every week to seeing what you put up. This look is a fave of mine in the cooler months. I love mixing denim with pretty or floaty, to bring that down a tad. #TeamLovinLife

    • Jodie Filogomo

Awww, thanks so much Jo! That means so much to me to hear you say that!!

  • Mireille

    Super cute outfits today!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Mireille!!
And I love your new photo—it’s so fresh!! 🙂

  • Judy Gramith

You should definitely use a permanent marker to fix your white spot. That jacket has a military style and a patch won’t fit that vibe as well. (one opinion)
You all look very cute. I love the fact that this style of a dress in any length with a jean jacket has been going strong for years!

    • Jodie Filogomo

This is exactly why I love blogging Jude! I would never have thought to use a marker to cover this white spot! But that’s brilliant! I’m going down to do it as soon as I’m done on the computer!!

  • I’m not sure what happened to my [blue]jean jacket – but I have one in a black and white snakeskin print that I bought online with a pair of jeans to match (I never wear them together, but I loved the print and they were seriously on sale).

I wish this had been posted sooner, but maybe we’ll have one or two days here before we are slammed into the dreaded summer, so I can try wearing it with solid color summer dress (about the only time I wear dresses anymore is summer, because they allow me to remain so much cooler). Gotta’ dig out my espadrilles too.

Nancy’s r-w-b colorway is super – refreshing to my eye, even tho’ it didn’t make me think America until you mentioned it. The hi/lo dress looks great on Charlotte and I like it a lot with her yellow. I have quite a few high/low hems, but on tops. Since I’m long and leggy (and can’t really shop in the kid’s dept. darn it all) I’m grateful for the additional length so I can wear them with leggings as well as jeans and pants without feeling exposed if I have to bend down to attend to TinkerToy.

Before you do anything “fancy” to the white stain on your jacket, Jodie, try coloring it in with a navy blue permanent marker (dot it with black first – lightly). I saved a couple of pairs of jeans that my ex-fiance splashed with Clorox™ by doing that (and you have to look r-e-a-l-l-y close to see what I’ve done).

HOWEVER, since these jackets are so casual anyway, many people would do absolutely nothing – which is certainly the easiest! 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

Madelyn—that’s such a great idea with the marker! I never would have thought of that myself…and that’s exactly why I love putting these issues “out there”—so I can gain other’s experience!!
I just want you to know that we are getting snow tomorrow…lucky us! So we’ll be wearing our jackets for quite a bit longer! Ha ha! But it’ll melt fast–I hope!!

      • Snow! We’re praying for rain for thirsty fields of young peanuts and corn, with temps in the 90s. Sometimes it is hard to imagine how other people live. We’ll be picking blueberries next week.

We still wear a sweater over sleeveless garments in an air-conditioned venue in hot weather but think hard about making sure it is thin cotton or linen and not acrylic or rayon/nylon blend else we faint on the way to the car. That’s why I passed on the bargain jean jacket and am still shopping for a light twill jean jacket in white.

        • Jodie Filogomo

Yep—we got snow and I wore my ankle boots out today!! It is amazing how different our weathers can be, right?
Good luck on the hunt!! XOXO

      • In case you are wondering – I noticed a new little banner on a site I was commenting upon and clicked it. WHoa! All these Disqus comments languishing (this one for five months now).

  • I’m convinced!! I want to wear mine now, haha. I’m kicking myself for not putting it in my suitcase when we left Australia. (Fingers crossed it arrives in a few more weeks!) You all look so lovely! And your dress is amazing, Jodie! I love the shoes you paired with it too.

    • Jodie Filogomo

It’s so inconceivable to me what you had to do to move halfway across the country Lindsey!
I think shopping is the only way I could handle that—ha ha!!

  • I love this and here is the crazy thing-I have a pair of 9 West yellow flats that look almost like your Mom’s. One note, however-I bought them in the 80’s and have never parted with them because I love them so much, even thought I probably have not worn them in about ten years. I now have a challenge for myself,to do a post with these shoes as a throw back to what you have done today-great job!

    • Jodie Filogomo

It is amazing how some styles really can stand the test of time—even if they go out for awhile! They can be perfect later on! My mom preaches this to me ALL of the time when I’m trying to get her to purge her things!! And I hate it when she’s right–ha ha!!

  • No, I don’t like to wear denim jackets over my dress!😂😂😂😂😂you know better! Ha ha, I love a bit of yin yang in my outfits. And your mother is wearing, again, one of her great self made garments! Wow!

    • Jodie Filogomo

You’re a funny girl Nancy!! At first I thought you were serious, and I was thinking, “I swear I just saw her do this”!!

  • Laura

I love my denim jacket so much I have to limit myself from wearing it every day! I actually have a dress and denim jacket on right now and love the style! It can dress down or compliment so many different dresses!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I know that feeling, Laura!! Sometimes when I first get an item, I think I over wear it! But I always rationalize that how else will I know if I like it or not!! And then if you’re wearing it all the time—it’s definitely a good thing!!

  • Rhona Crouthamel

Yay, yay, yay! This is my favorite way to use my denim jacket… To dress down a dressy dress! I do it constantly! You all look great! But, I have to be honest, Jodie, your outfit just truly rocks! The slip dress, the shoes, the choker, the unique cut jacket… The whole thing just WORKS!
Have you tried spot dying the white spot on your jacket? Though frankly that would be a lot of work. I think patches would be awesome! I would to a small cluster to make it look intentional. I just had to do this with a black cashmere sweater that my daughter’s dog’s nails put a hole through. There are some really cute patches out there. I got red crochet roses.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves this look!! I’m not sure why it tickles my fancy so much, but it’s seems so modern & fresh!!
Thanks for the wonderful love on my outfit!! Considering I was going to give this dress away, I’m really glad I’m getting some good use out of it!!

  • A new fashion idea for me and I love the jean/dress combination or jean jacket as a blazer with pants. Short and squat, I need to keep long lines in mind for my clothing but I think the jean jacket is doable. Love that you feature your Mom and Mother-in-law here. Helps us older people relate. Saw you over at Writer Wednesday and just had to stop by.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thank you so much for stopping by Janis!!!
I’m so glad you found us and I hope you come back often!! It’s been super fun to spend the time with my family this way, and I love showing that just because we’ve gotten older, doesn’t mean we can’t look great!!

  • My denim jacket is a spring and summer essential. I love being able to layer it over dresses and get more wear out of them.

    • Jodie Filogomo

You know, I probably need it more in the summer to take in with me to stores & restaurants!! The A/C always freezes me out!!

  • I definitely love pairing a denim jacket with a dress. The yin and yang works really well I think. I always love that balance in fashion.

    • Jodie Filogomo

It really does add so much to the outfits, don’t you think? I know my mom still has a hard time embracing the yin/yang in her clothing because it’s not how she was raised!!

  • Did anybody beside me notice there are primary colors going on here with jean jackets and white dresses? All of you accessorize in such fun ways.

My friend’s favorite story about a black dress with huge red flowers is when one of the yuppie ladies next to her at an outdoor concert whispered to her friend, “I’m sure it’s an ORIGINAL!” as Kathy got up to go to the restroom. She didn’t wear a jean jacket, but she sure looked chic.

I got out my denim jacket. It’s blazer style and is back in the closet awaiting cool fall weather. I’m still torn about whether to get white twill for the summer. Guess I’ll wait until the sleeveless dress with the big palm fronds and khaki piping gets here and see what it demands.

    • Jodie Filogomo

I totally didn’t notice that, about the primary colors, Jean!! Now you make me want to do another styling for us all with other colors!! I do think the jean jacket looks good with everything!
I’m on the fence about getting a white jacket too–I have a white jean vest, so I always think I don’t need the jacket! But they are really different, aren’t they?
And your new dress sounds wonderful!! You’ll have to let me know what you decide!!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

They all look smashing, but I particularly love the denim with the white dresses!

    • Jodie Filogomo

They are a fabulous contrast that way, right, Terri!!
      Thanks!! 🙂

  • I love all these looks. I’m really going to be trying my jacket with a summer dress. A slightly edgy summer look.

    • Jodie Filogomo

It is slightly edgy, isn’t it, Anna?? Maybe that’s why it floats my boat so much!!

  • It really is the perfect topper in my opinion. Love every single one of your dresses. Have a great day ladies!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Kathrine!!

  • I love denim jackets but still looking for my perfect one! Jodie, I love yours! And Charlotte is seriously rocking her jacket. Great tip to look in the kids’ dept.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Isn’t my mom just so smart?? I don’t think about other departments normally—but so much of our clothing is truly sexless (except the ruffles…ha ha)
      Thanks Gail!

  • Kirsten Wick

I do love adding denim jackets to my dresses, never goes out of style if you ask me. Love, Kirsten x

    • Jodie Filogomo

I think you’re exactly right Kirsten!! At least I’m sure it’ll be around for awhile!!

  • Nicoletta
    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Nicoletta!!

  • Janet Earling

Love these looks! And how different all of your jackets are. As for your jacket, Jodie, I didn’t even notice the spot until you mentioned it. Then I had to look for it. If you love it, I say it’s a keeper and put a cute patch on it if you’d like.
BTW, I just got my first EVER denim jacket a couple of months ago (just in time for summer, go figure), lol.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Janet!!
But sometimes I think I need my jackets almost more for the summer months! At least when I’m going into the stores or restaurants—the A/C is so cold most times!! So see—it’s good you just got it!!

  • Lesley Watson

Great stylin as usual Jodie. I love the denim / feminine look you three have going today. I could step into any of your shoes. Speaking of shoes… Red is spot on, sandles (3 pair) , boots (yes boots) flats, heels, keds, house slippers. I rather have a thing for ruby slippers. Always have. I’m debating if I need to pull out boots again with the weather forecast next couple days. I thought spring had sprung.

    • Jodie Filogomo

You have red boots, Lesley?? I’m so jealous!! What a great way to make a statement with your footwear!! Heck–we are going shoe shopping tomorrow—I might have to keep a look out for that because I’m always a sucker for the sales!!
And I’ll need them tomorrow anyways, right?? Ha ha!! At least the snow won’t stick long—that’s the good thing about it at this time of year!

      • Lesley Watson

The kicker (if you will) to the red boots is that they were a consignment find. I have had them so long they have gone out and come back into style. Talk about a strut in the walk with them on. Good luck with the shoe shopping tomorrow.

    • Charlotte Miller

Nice to hear you say that. I got tall red boots back in the 70’s,wore them a lot until they became too tight-but luckily didn’t give them away. Now with the weight loss–I had them professionally polished and they’re ready for several more fashionable seasons of wear.

  • Loving the denim jacket with dress look, Jodie! I think if I ever decide to wear mine it would be with a dress or skirt. I especially love your mom’s cropped jacket with the fresh white dress and yellow accessories. Perfect as we head into summer!

    • Jodie Filogomo

That’s definitely how you should wear your jacket Mary!! You have some of the neatest dresses ever—and this would make it more casual!!

  • Love denim jackets with dresses. Its a great spring look.

    Gemma x

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Gemma!!

  • donnaduck

Thank you for putting me on your blog!! I love all three of your dresses w/ jean jackets! Jodie, yours shows how you can dress “down” a fancy dress and get more wear out of it (it’s such a beautiful dress!), which is something I haven’t done yet, but it’s a great idea! And Nancy wearing white, light blue and red together- that’s one of my favorite looks! I think a true red with light blue is awesome combination! And I love your mom’s too- she looks so “on trend”!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thank you Donna!! I love incorporating other women wearing the “same” thing!! So just remember, I’m always open to including you. Just give me a holler and ask what’s coming up if you want to join in again. I try not to buy you too much by asking you!! It’s an open invitation!!

  • Stevie Turner

I love your red dress – very unusual!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Stevie!!

  • Karen

Do the embroidered patch!! How unique and fun that would be! Love your espadrilles! I’m so into the ties at the ankle this spring and summer! I love the ying/yang of your gorgeous dress with the jacket. You really pulled off the dressy/casual vibe! Nancy’s dress is beautiful, I really like the lacy look and it looks perfect with her faded blue jacket. the pops of red made a dressy dress casual and fun. I see red shoes as a neutral for summer and believe they go with everything! I love your mom’s dress – the hem is unique and flowy and wonderful! Such a “classy lady” look and so feminine! Just love that! Yellow is my favorite color, so I’m on board with her accessories against the white dress! I also like Donna’s dress and how she styled the longer jacket with it. it follows the lines of the dress. You see a lot of short toppers with long dresses, so this is (to my eye) a tad dressier and a great way to style a longer jacket. I wish she worked in my office – she looks so cheerful and fun!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I’ll have to go exploring at Joann Fabrics now!! The nice thing is that if I sew the patch on, then I could always remove it too!!
And it’s so wonderful that you comment on everyone’s outfit! You really are such a great supporter Karen!!
Remember–it’s an open invitation to join in anytime you want!! XOXO

  • Love this!!!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Jaymie!! It’s so cute how we were #twinning today!!
