Ageless Style in a Graphic Tee

A graphic tee may seem whimsical, but I think they can be worn so many ways. I’m so happy to announce that the 3 of us were invited into the Ageless Style group. It was a last minute addition as one of the originals decided to stop blogging. That’s why you don’t see Nancy (the 60+ model) in this post. She was on a fabulous vacation when I needed to get these photos. But don’t fret, she’ll be involved in the upcoming Ageless Style themes.

Quote of the day: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson

So the concept behind this Ageless Style group is that 10 bloggers over the age of 40 will showcase their interpretation of the theme. This month’s theme via Jill from Doused in Pink  is graphic tees. This item of clothing has seen many posts on our blog in the past. The last two were at a request from a reader, Jill, to give ideas of styling her school shirt which we tried by adding in fun accessories, and pairing with playful bottoms!

To try to give some variety to this particular item, I decided to go for a monochromatic look with our graphic tee of choice, which we’ve never done before for a graphic tee! Let me just say that it was an option that made my mom extremely happy. She loves monochromatic outfits!! And no, I didn’t plan for both mom and I to both wear blue, but you know what they always say? The nut doesn’t fall far from the tree!!

Make sure to check out the other 9 bloggers below for other great ideas to style a graphic tee! We are out to prove that you can still be fashionable and on trend over 40 and beyond.

Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: Let me just say that my idea of a monochromatic look may not be exactly your version of monochromatic.

But I did keep it all blue, so that kinda counts, right? I have the hardest time putting together monochromatic looks for some reason. I always want to include a contrast or different color. That’s why I used my Fuchsia lipstick from Look Fabulous Forever!!

Let’s just say that in retrospect, I was channeling my local peeps!! Both the graphic tee and the maxi skirt were purchased here in town!!

Ageless Style with Graphic tee

I know the tee isn’t so easy to read, but let me help you!! Obviously you can see the state of Colorado!! All the other writing to make up the map of the USA says “Not Colorado”! You probably have to live her to get it, but for some reason it touched my funny bone!!

Of course it didn’t hurt that we were shopping at the funnest place the other day called Wish Gifts!  You’ve seen me outside this store in their big pink chair once before on the blog! This time, Nancy, Rob & I were out for ice cream and decided to go in the store. And they even served us champagne, so that could have been a factor why we had so much fun!! You’ll even get to see us shopping in action in an upcoming post!

Graphic Tee Colorado

The maxi is from a local designer named, Brooks!

She has the most amazing studio in Downtown Denver with all of her fabulous materials that she collects from all over the world!! I was drawn to this skirt because of the gorgeous colors and beading on the points!!

Truthfully, my style is more classic and not what I’d consider bohemian. At least that was while I was working. But now that I’ve been blogging and seeing other women with different styles, I’ve truly enjoyed breaking out of my box!  Besides, doesn’t this material almost look like the calm waters of the Caribbean?

And I truly think the maxi skirts can work so nicely for women who don’t feel comfortable showing their legs! There are so many varieties available like the casual t-shirt knit ones, to the dressier versions!

Graphic Tee for Women over 50

I ended up keeping my sandals a gold color which to me looks like a neutral nude. I purchased these sandals at Target a couple years ago, and they have certainly gotten a ton of wear! If you ever thought about gold sandals, I would definitely tell you that they are very versatile. Whether you prefer the comfortable pair or one with more heel height, I can personally say that they go with everything!

Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit: My mom was actually excited about another graphic tee post!

She’s had this tee in her closet for awhile, but forgot about it with the last series!! And the message is her to a tee!!

Graphic Tee and Ageless Style

The other reason my mom was so excited is because she absolutely loves wearing monochrome outfits. I can’t tell you how many times as I was growing up that I heard, “it’s slimming!” Now if you know me at all, then you know I love to play the devil’s advocate, and I will argue all day long, that it’s not the colors that are slimming. But that’s a subject for another day!!

Just let it be known, that I made my mother happy with this outfit theme!!!

Woman 70+ & Graphic Tee

The great thing about this skirt, is it’s part of a suit.

I know when most women retire, they get rid of their suits and work clothes. But I think this is a great example of how you can still wear them and change them up!! To me, a pencil skirt is so flattering and universally stylish! Whether you prefer a print or a solid, you don’t even have to spend a lot of money on this item!!

Monochromatic & Graphic Tee

I guess my mom really knows how to put together a monochromatic look much better than I do! From her shoes to her earrings, she’s crushing on the blues!!

Of course I have to point out that she made both the scarf and the earrings. The scarf was remnant material she found at the fabric store, and the earrings were in the drapery section at Jo-Ann Fabrics!! I really love the idea of wearing the scarf hanging down the back of your outfit like this. Then it doesn’t take away from the focal point of the funny tee. And besides it also won’t fall in my food as I’m eating!!
