Amuse Bouche #13-Drawer Organization

Amuse Bouche (ˈä-ˌmüz-ˈbüsh): literally translated into “mouth amuser”.  Wikipedia definition: a single, bite-sized hors d’oeuvre.

Jodie’s use of the term: a small hint or clever tip!  (Think Hints from Heloise!!)

Drawer organization

The easiest way to organize the drawers in your cupboards and dressers is with dividers.  Now, of course, you could run to the container store or Target to buy these dividers, but I have a thrifty substitution.  I cut up my grocery boxes and use them.  I’ve found the cereal boxes work fabulously for pencils and long, thin items.  I’ve used tissue boxes and pasta boxes for many of my collections.  The above picture is from my sewing desk.

You can see in these above examples that I also used them in my laundry room for the tape/glue/etc drawer (on the left).  I have found them very helpful in my crafting drawer as well. (on the right).

It’s super easy….all I do is measure the height of the drawer and cut off the excess amount from the box.  I then have to tape the corners for them to keep their shape and voila….drawer organizer!

I realize this method is not the most beautiful, but really, who is looking in your drawers?  (Get your mind out of the gutter:-))  Besides, isn’t this an environmentally smart way to use your trash?

Thanks for reading!  This week I’ll be styling a gingham jacket!

Great idea you can also use the pretty boxes some jewlery comes in or chocolates come in for example the gold Godiva boxes that brightens up the drawers

  • Great tip! I never thought to do that. Can’t wait to see the gingham jacket!

    • Thanks Darlene….the boxes also save a trip to target where I almost always end up buying tons!!!

      • I used to be totally addicted to Target. They have the cutest things there!
