Ankle Boots for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: With Jeans
Quote of the day: “A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” – Charles Darwin
We all know what happens when the weather starts cooling down—we reach for some kind of foot coverage that has more warmth than our sandals. And for most of us, that tends to be ankle boots! I explored styling this item 2 years ago on the blog, but I thought it was high time to do it again. In addition, I submitted an article on Sixty + Me’s website regarding this beloved footwear.
And if that isn’t enough variety, Sheela & Eve have joined us again to show how these boots can transcend age and style.
So my goal with styling the ankle boots for the three of us was to actually show them off! Of course you can wear them so that your jeans or pants cover them, but I was aiming to make sure you could appreciate them this time! Thus we cuffed our jeans and proudly wore our booties! How do you wear yours?
Eve of The World According to Eve: I bet every one of you has a black pair of ankle boots in your closet! So a cute tee, jeans & your black ankle boots can be extremely stylish (along with some great sunglasses!)!
Sheela of Sheela Writes: Sheela loves footwear like I do—give us interest, give us heels and give us variety!! And the embellished jeans—see we’re almost twinsies because Jude made a similar pair for me, here!
Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit: I only have 2 graphic print tees in my closet and this is one of them. My favorite, comfortable way to wear it is with a jacket over top! The other graphic tee made it’s appearance here, here & here!
I figured I’d add some bling with crazy, big earrings and a small brooch. The pin used to be my grandmothers (it’s the initial of my maiden name, Nagy).
I fell in love with these ankle boots when I saw them in a fashion magazine about a month ago. They were more than I usually spend, but I figure if I wear them 50 times, I’ve gotten good use out of them!
Jeans: LOFT (here)~~Blazer: Sophia Eugene (similar here)~~Top: 7th Guilt (similar here with a flower)~~Boots: Sam Edelman (similar here)~~Pin: (similar here complete with a pearl)~~Earrings: (similar here)
Nancy’s (60’s) Outfit: For this ankle boots series, Nancy picked her leopard print booties to showcase!
She wore these same boots in our Leopard Shoes posts that you can see here, here & here.
We added in the cute girl necklace since we left her vest opened and unbuttoned!
And I thought keeping the jewelry all silver would work well with the burgundy vest.
Jeans: Chaps (similar here with distressig)~~Vest: Eucalyptus (similar here)~~Top: Land’s End (similar here)~~Boots: Impo (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)~~Bracelet: (similar here)
Charlotte’s (70’s) Outfit: Mom wanted to stick with a neutral ankle boot for this series!
If you’re cuffing your jeans in order to show off the bootie, it helps to have a pair of skinny jeans!
Since the shirt we picked was a solid colored, we added 3 different necklaces to add interest. Layering your necklaces can be a fun exercise and allow you to get more use out of them! I showed this necklace layering in a post about 2 years ago, here.
Both mom’s & Nancy’s ankle boots would be great for those of you who can’t wear a high heel. They are only a two inch heel, and quite easy to walk in!
Jeans: LOFT (similar here)~~Top: L.L.Bean (similar here in many colors)~~Boots: Hillard & Hanson (similar here with a low heel & a little fringe)~~Necklace: (similar here all in 1 so it’s easier)~~Earrings: (similar here in a diamond shape)~~Bracelet: (similar here)

Anyone else game for a little decoration on your ankle boots?
