Wearing Ankle Pants for a Dressy Occasion
Ankle pants may not be your first thought when you think of dressing up for a special occasion. But like I pointed out in the last post, the shorter length makes them ideal for switching from flats to heels. This is perfect if you’re going from a casual outing to a more formal one later. Besides, I have recognized that our society has become very casual, even in it’s formal definitions!
Quote of the day: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Henry David Thoreau
We paired these exact same ankle pants with t-shirts for a casual look and then with toppers for a smart look.

Jodie’s Outfit: This is one of my favorite silk blouses that used to be my friend Bethany’s (see her story here). Unfortunately, the sleeve seams started pulling apart. Thus mom and I came up with a solution. Mom sewed in this sheer material for new sleeves and even added back the existing wristbands on them. I think the sheer sleeves make it quite dressy when I’m going for that look, yet I could wear a blazer over it, and it’d still be office appropriate!
I especially love the ankle pants with these shoes. If I wear normal length pants with them, you can’t appreciate all the straps! And the fact that the shoes were only $12 make them even better!!
Pants: Banana Republic (similar here)~~Top: LOFT (similar here)~~Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless(similar here)~~Belt: The Limited (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)~~Bracelet: (similar here)

Nancy’s Outfit: For this post, I had Nancy wear pink on the top portion to pull out the pink flowers in the pants. I really feel like you notice the pink in the trousers more this way!
We accessorized with the gold to try to give it a more formal look. For some reason, I’m very drawn to the longer necklaces with the opened cardigans.
Pants: J.Jill (here)~~Cardigan: Claudia Richard (similar here on sale too!!)~~Top: Pantology (similar here)~~Shoes: Lifestride (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)~~Bracelet: (similar here)

Charlotte’s Outfit: When I see mesh items advertised, they are usually with sporty or athletic pieces. However, I placed mom’s mesh top over a silky, sleeveless turtleneck along with a statement necklace. I was hoping that keeping it all black & white with the turquoise pants would add the desired dressiness look.
Pants: Talbots-thrifted (here)~~Mesh Top: from Japan (similar here this one even has an applique)~~Shirt Under: Mom made it (similar here)~~Shoes: Charter Club (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)~~Bracelet 1: (similar here)~~Bracelet 2: (similar here)
