Another Day in Rob’s World

Men's Fashion over 50.

A Man’s Perspective

Quote of the day: “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing-that’s why we recommend it daily.” Zig Ziglar

I thought this quote was particularly meaningful. Because don’t we all struggle with motivation for various things? But having a daily reminder of that motivation, could be the golden ticket! Let me just say, that I hope I can in some way be part of your inspiration, whether it be in a look, a way to style an item, or even a thought of how to wear what is in your closet!

So I’m sharing another outfit that my husband, Rob, wore on an outing! If you ever want to see previous outfits or themes, you can visit the past post page, here! I have tried to organize them by category, and all of Rob’s looks are under Men’s Fashion!

Rob’s Outfit: For this day, Rob & I went to an appointment and then out to lunch. I have to explain, that food is an important factor in our lives! Thus when we go most places, part of that trip involves food! On this particular day, we got to visit a restaurant called Poppies, that my friend, Diana had recommended! The prime beef hash was fabulous, if you’re interested!!

Men's Fashion over 50.

Rob picked out his mint colored jeans for this look! Now I know many men would never, ever consider this color to wear! But I think my husband likes them because he stands out from the blue jean wearing men in these!! He usually wears a darker color on top with these jeans, thus the blackish sweater!

He wore some of my favorite boots this day! I love these boots because they are two different textures and look so interesting. I’m always lamenting when we go shoe shopping for Rob, that men have the most boring selections of shoes compared to us women!! So, to me, these boots break that stereotype!

As we headed out the door, Rob grabbed his grey suede coat that we got for under $100 a couple years ago at Banana Republic. I must admit that we’ve been extremely lucky at BR with finding Rob some great deals. I’m sure it helps that we both don’t mind perusing the sale racks, and I usually have some rewards from using their credit card!

Doesn’t Rob look like he’s starting to have fun with this modeling thing? Thanks for joining us for the men’s style on the blog too!

  • Handsome man. Got an even better look at him in this post. You chose well Jodie hahaha.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Well this will put Rob in a good mood today Greetje!! Thanks 🙂

  • Rob is a stylish guy! A moto or bomber jacket is a great finishing piece too, for guys and gals alike. Kyle has a gray wash leather moto jacket, and it lends a cool polish to his look, just like Rob’s does here. We share your love of food and planning outings around meals, too. We just got home from a quick trip to Lexington and made use of Yelp to find a variety of local restaurants. Sounds like you made an obligatory appointment into an outing! It keeps things fun!

    <3 Liz

    • Jodie Filogomo

It totally keeps things fun, Liz!! We are all about the food—I keep telling Rob he should start a food & wine blog because it’s such his passion!!
And now, he even likes shopping!! Aren’t we a pair??
      Thanks!! And happy Thursday!!

  • Love Rob’s mint green pants. I am all about anything green, in any shade! He’s so clever to realize that these great pants will buoy him above the waves in a sea of everyone else’s blue denim. My PC did a Get Your Pretty (handsome?) On challenge with me designed to get the men in our lives out of their denim and tee comfort zones. I finally got him into some better-fitting jeans, at least!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

You’re exactly right Leslie!! Why look exactly like everyone out there—men included!!
And isn’t your PC happy that you got him looking stylish?? Besides, I always tell Rob, that he needs to keep up with me–ha ha!!
      Thanks for the love!!

  • Oh how fun! I love that you feature your husband’s style as well. Those mint pants and his shoes would be right up my husband’s alley. I’ll have to show him this!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Isn’t is nice when the men care about what they wear, too?

  • Amy D. Christensen

Rob looks like he is having too much fun! It must be fun for the two of you to switch places on the camera once in a while. He’s looking quite fine in this outfit. Kudos to him for not being afraid to wear colors that aren’t always considered “manly”. My hubby has a few shirts in this color, but I don’t think I would ever get him to wear this color in pants. Ha, ha. Our errands almost always involve food too! Why not have fun! – Amy

    • Jodie Filogomo

I know Rob feels more comfortable in his “unmanly” colored jeans when I’m with him. I even think that he said at one time, that he wouldn’t wear his red jeans unless I was with him! But it’s baby steps, right?
And I do think as we get older, that we don’t care quite as much about what other’s think—at least sometimes!! 🙂

  • Loved his outfit!! He’s a natural!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Elle!! He is having fun (I think!!)

  • Karen

What a great sport he is to pose for pictures! I like those pants, they look like a neutral, but then I think pretty much anything can be considered a neutral. Still, he’s right, it’s not the everybody-wears-them jeans look and that’s cool! You’re right about men’s shoes, they have such a small selection compared to what women have. These boots are definitely nice looking!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Karen!!
It reminds me of the other day at the bank, and the two tellers (guys) had these fabulous shirts on, and I said how wonderful they looked. Then I was lamenting at how everyone doesn’t dress up like this, but they commented that if everyone did—then they wouldn’t stand out as nicely! Interesting, huh?

  • I must say, it is so nice to see something on a man other than jeans or khaki pants (loathe with a vengeance). And how cool of your husband, to be such a sport 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Isn’t he a dear??
We always joke at how far he’s come since we first started dating in his fashion & style!! All he had in his closet were tan pants and boring shirts!! And I think he’s really developed a pretty good eye at how things look together! Needless to say there is a lot of creative juices that run through his family, but I also think it can be a learned skill!!

      • Very much a dear, and a stylish one at that. I couldn’t agree with you more, Jodie, innate style is a blessing but certainly the ability to create sartorial masterpieces is a skill which can be cultivated with patience and the right teacher (ahem, you!!) xoxo

        • Jodie Filogomo

Aren’t you the creative word master, my lovely Sheela!!!

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

Really great look, Jodie! You have an adventurous hubby and fashionable! You two make a great team. Letting you know that I will be linking to this post for Thursday 3/16, when I post my Above-Time New York Fashion Week article for my bro-in-law’s business. 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

How wonderful Terri—I really appreciate it!! What can I do for you??

  • I love that you are getting your husband onto the blog!

The jeans are great – such a nice change from the usual jeans or khakis. And the boots are fantastic, too! Great look!

    • Jodie Filogomo

Hey–it’s only fair that if I have to put myself out there in the blogging world, that Rob gets to too!!
Thanks for such nice compliments, Andrea!!

  • It’s so fun and refreshing to see from men’s perspective! Mint jeans is a subtle way to add some color to your outfit without going overboard. Rob definitely makes a great model, pictures look so effortless and dapper 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Ankita!!
I think he’s really starting to get the hang of this!!

  • Jacqueline Rendine

Love these jeans! What a great look! I need to convince my husband to try mint!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I think guys looks so wonderful in jeans that aren’t the normal denim blue!!
You’ll have to let me know if your guy approves!!
Thanks for the love–Rob will be very happy to know there are others out there that think he looks good!!

  • What a cutie – and I love the color of the jeans as well as his choice of shoes. Well-dressed without being over or under dressed. I would clearly pick him out of any crowd as a man who would be interesting to get to know. Add one to the LOVE count, btw – it didn’t click for me when I tried to vote.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      He’s definitely a keeper, Madelyn!!
I remember when we were first together and I’d suggest something, he’d usually gave a groan or eye roll! But those are the pieces that have received the most love, so now he just goes along with my suggestions and even enjoys shopping (shocker, I know).
I’ll have to look into the reaction buttons when we get home next week—we’re on a little vaca in Phoenix right now and it’s killing me to use the laptop instead of the desktop!!

  • Rob looks very dapper and modern and undoubtably, a great match for what you were wearing. A well styled man is often a rare find and kudos to your photography skills, Jodie.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Rena!!
I do wonder why the men don’t love looking good as much as we women do? Isn’t it in nature that the men need to showcase to get the female’s attention??

  • I love this!!! So fun to see a man’s perspective and style!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks Joti!!
They might as well look half way decent since they are hanging out with us, right?

  • Charlotte Miller

Doesn’t he make a great model–forgot how expensive men’s clothing is.

    • Jodie Filogomo

Right? But there’s always thrift stores for less expensive clothing!!

  • I love those booties too! I tried to get Gerben so dat that hè would buy a pair. But he has very big feet and then they don t look good. The jeans is fantastic! Actually the hole outfit is!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I have a girl friend that thinks because her feet are relatively big, that some shoes don’t look good on her….It’s really not something I’ve ever considered, Nancy!!
I think we should squash that and have our men wear fabulous shoes/boots no matter what!!
      Thanks for the love!!!

  • Judy Gramith

Rob is lookin very handsome and at ease with his stylish ol’ self. Clearly he enjoys the attention from you and is receptive to your great styling opinions Jodie!
The pants look really cool and that jacket must be in the “like butter” category of soft. It’s fun to see you and Rob enjoying some fashion manscaping together.
    ROCK ON ROB!!!!

    • Jodie Filogomo

I do think he enjoys getting stylish now adays, Jude!! And he is silly at heart—so maybe that’s starting to show through!! 🙂

  • Debbie Stinedurf

Those mint jeans are definitely a bold statement for a man and I love it! Rob is just too cool! 🙂

  • donnanance

Rob looks great! I like a man who will go past the tennis shoe-ball cap-sport logo sweatshirt. (Or god forbid, the pants hanging below the underwear.) He does seem to be enjoying his own photo shoot.

    • Jodie Filogomo

      Thanks so much Donna!
I giggled at your pants hanging down portion of the comment—luckily even Rob thinks that’s silly!!
But I think he enjoys getting styled now–it really makes him feel better about himself!!

  • Queen of Rods

Isn’t it fun having a stylish man at home, Jodie? Mine still speaks of his mint-colored jeans from the 80’s. Once he sees Rob sporting these, I’m guessing that it’ll be time for him to revisit mint jeans…just in time for St. Patrick’s Day 🙂

    • Jodie Filogomo

It is nice when the guys care about how they look!! Shouldn’t they be keeping up with us??
Maybe we should include your man in our men’s fashion posts? I’d love to add his photo in as well if he’d be open to it??

      • Queen of Rods

He giggled and said thank you but no 🙂 We wear coordinating colors when we go out together. Do you and Rob do that too?

        • Jodie Filogomo

We don’t coordinate on purpose, but I am surprised at how many times it seems like we do!! Like just today!! Maybe after I pick out an outfit, that it subconsciously it sticks in Rob’s brain when he chooses his?
If you husband ever changes his mind—just let me know….:)

  • Great post Jodie, I’m enjoying the day in the life of Rob posts haha. Great style! Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    Gemma x

    • Jodie Filogomo

Thanks Gemma! I still get the eye roll from him, but inwardly, I think he likes it! 🙂
