Another Week of Colorful and Fun Outfits

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

My week of outfits reminded me of something I’ve seen on Instagram about being “Extra.” I do have a hard time just putting together what one might consider a basic look.
Yet instead of being embarrassed by that, I should be proud of my uniqueness. Some of us like basic, and some of us like extra. And for that reason, there is vanilla ice cream, plus SO many other flavors.

Quote of the day: “One does not get better but different and older and that is always a pleasure.” Gertrude Stein

BTW, I’m hosting a Facebook live event to talk about my color recipe at the end of January. Here are the details, and I hope you can make it.

Saturday

I just purchased this plaid shirt from Target as part of a collaboration with some friends. And both Rob and I were really impressed with it. I love how soft and thick it is, plus the colors print mix so well with my closet.
But on top of that, it comes in a bunch of other colors. I had a hard time deciding which colorway.

We were off to the farmer’s market today, so I wore jeans (these are the Kancan jeans from Belong Lifestyle USA) and my flat booties.

What I’ve come to realize is that this camel color of booties has become my favorite since I favor warmer colors in my clothing. DUH, well it only took 50 years to figure out that, haha!!

The hat?? I borrowed it from Rob’s stash!! I just love these newsboy hats because they aren’t as high profile.

And this new pair of glasses is going to be a favorite. The color was called champagne, and it’s a fabulous neutral for my coloring. (Glasses from Glasses Shop where you can have 35% off with code JSHOT35)

Sunday

Today, I had an appointment for a facial. If you’ve ever had a facial then you know that your hair is a mess afterward, thus the hat. I love this velvet baseball cap. It’s probably my most worn baseball cap because it’s a tad extra!!

If you describe this outfit, then it would be joggers and a sweatshirt. But I think this is the perfect example of how you can take that description and make it extra, right?

The joggers are a blue velvet (and were thrifted) with trim down the sides. While the sweatshirt is relatively basic, the ankle boots make up for it!!

I just adore these Betsey Johnson booties. Just the fact that I like any of her products goes to show how “extra” I am. In the past, I couldn’t understand wanting to be so flashy. See them styled with a dress here.

My first attempt with the outfit was a small neck scarf. But it seemed wrong. Then this faux fur scarf screamed, “choose me”, and that was the exclamation on top! See the blue scarf styled here another way.

Monday

This is not my favorite outfit. In fact, if I were going anywhere this day, I would have changed. I meant to grab a different dress from the closet, but when this one came out instead, I decided to challenge myself to wear it.

However, I consider this more of a tunic. That’s why I added the dress extender. I styled this tunic tucked into a skirt in the past.

And the other thing is it tends to feel more form-fitting, so I layered my pink, faux fur vest over it. When in doubt with a too-tight dress, I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve found here.

Maybe the boots are too dark with it?? Something was off, but better to try and fail than not to try at all.

Insider tip: Form-fitting. Does that word have you running for the hills? Trust me, we get used to comfy clothing a little too easy I think. Many times what we consider too tight can actually be very pleasing to the eye. I say this especially to remind myself!!
But if you are unsure, ask a good friend!

Tuesday

Even though you just saw many ways to wear this pink teddy bear coat on the blog, I had to wear it today because it lightened the look so well.

I pulled out these camo jeans because they hadn’t seen the light of day in a while. And since I was off to get my hair cut, I wore my faux leather top available here. Faux leather is the best at not attracting pet hair (or human hair…perfect for hairstylists).

The gold booties and gold sequin scarf are the extras that I need to feel fabulous.

Even my hairstylist said she would never have thought to pair the camo jeans with the pink jacket. That’s where my color recipe comes in handy.

And the extra is the gold boots with the gold, sequin scarf to tie it all together.

Wednesday

This ruffle sweater is the other item from Target for my Target group of girls on Instagram. It’s not normally something I would have chosen, but I love it more than I thought.

It’s a nice thickness of sweater (you know how sometimes, a “sweater” is SO thin that I would call it a top? Well, this is really a sweater).

I decided to see how mint green and burgundy combine, and I think it’s a wonderful option. In a way, it’s no different than pink and green. Here the pink is much darker and the green is much lighter.

The grey ankle boots were a quick choice although I might change them out to snakeskin for some print in my outfit. Somehow I missed adding in a bunch of “extra” to this look, haha.

The earrings are mint-colored hearts and the necklace is one I won in an Instagram giveaway.

Thursday

Because I thrifted this blue faux fur jacket yesterday, I figured I should wear it right away.

If you wonder if teddy bear coats can be styled easily, then don’t miss 6 ways to style one here.

I matched the jacket to my denim shirt under it and added a pin to bring up the colors in the skirts.

Skirts?? Yes, these are two skirts layered over each other. The polka dot one is a sheer skirt and funny because I styled it over this same silver, pleated skirt once before here.
Here is the sheer skirt layered over a pink slip skirt.

The ankle boots are a favorite. The funny thing is they were labeled lilac when I bought them, yet most of the time they seem either pale pink or a neutral nude.

Friday

If you KNOW that you’re going shopping, do you plan out your outfit differently? I do to a degree.

For instance, if I’m not sure there are fitting rooms, I’ll wear something like this where I can take off the top layer (duster) and possibly try things on over the leggings or t-shirt.

I made sure to wear modern leggings (these are my faux leather version from Peach). The duster is one of my winnings from Caite and Kyla (and wait until you see the back view later this month)

And the shoes are not only super comfy but also easy to slip on and off (these are Walking Cradles, search for “Wyatt”). Of course, I’m wearing Sheec no-show socks so I can try on shoes with no issues.

I do limit my accessories a bit. A scarf is easy because I can always throw it on the strap of my purse if I need it out of the way, and I wore stud earrings instead of dangly ones.
