I love the idea of looking back at the month and sharing the highlights with you. Thank you for joining me in my life updates for August 2022.
Quote of the day: “Life, even the hardest life, is the most beautiful, wonderful, and miraculous treasure in the world.” Patirim Sorokin
I admit that I only share the highlights in my monthly updates. Were there some not-so-good things that happened?? Of course. We all have those things. However, I will say that my perspective about good/bad is much different now that I’m retired.
I share even more fun when you sign up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Just to give you a little insight, I had one virtual friend lash out at me saying our Forever Fierce group wasn’t as nice as I said. So she said she was blocking me. Truthfully, I have no idea what she was referring to, and I decided to just let it go instead of trying to fix it. You just can’t please everyone, right?
And then I was ghosted and rejected by a couple of brands for some collaborations. Rejection is never easy, but I try to realize that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.
But instead of dwelling on the negative, let’s get onto the fabulous parts of August.
Oh, that top photo?? That was the late celebration of Rob’s birthday by having a personal chef come to our house and cook lunch for us. I loved the idea of that gift, but I wouldn’t use that same chef again.
Our Trip to St. Louis
The highlight of our month was definitely our trip to St. Louis to see my friend, Lisa and her husband Craig. I met Lisa by working with Walking Cradles, and it’s been such an incredible friendship.
In the upper left photo, I decided to have my feet measured to make sure I was wearing the right size. Have you had this done in the last 5 years?? It can be very helpful because many women don’t wear the correct width. Instead, women will size up, but then that leads to heels popping out of shoes among other issues.
Staying with Lisa and Craig is a cat lover’s dream. All 4 kitties (plus there is a dog too) are social and come to greet you whenever you’re around. They love to be petted and they even love each other. (That was always my dream when we brought home our second kitty. It’s still only a dream, haha)
Our activities director (Lisa) kept us hopping all weekend with events, food, and meeting up with other women. We walked a ton by visiting Laumeier Sculptural Park and the St. Louis Botanical gardens. OMG, let me tell you the botanical gardens are humongous.
Next time, I think we need to visit the arch!!
New To Me
I love being on the influencer list for Paula’s Choice. I really like their Niacinimide body serum that I’d been using for the last month. And now I get to try the new C5 products. My aesthetician has said that Vit. C is a great thing for our skin.
The other product I’m testing is this Risque Breast Tape. Since I fell in love with my Gatherall strapless/backless adhesive bra, I thought it was only fair to explore other options. I’ve only tried it once so far, so I can’t give a real opinion about it.
What I Bought
Luckily I haven’t been shopping much this month. Somehow my closet walls seem to be shrinking in size, and I’ve had to buy more hangers in the last year!!
But I did get another bra, this one from Ruby Ribbon. If you don’t know about Ruby Ribbon, it’s my favorite brand of bras right now. I did talk about comfortable bras in the past and if you’re interested in this brand, it’s helpful to reach out to my contact first, because there are varying types and support available. (Here is her site, and then press the connect button in the upper right. I know you think you should just order a bra and see how it fits, but she can lead you in the right direction of which kind would be best for your shape and what you want)
I primarily wear the demiettes and what I appreciate is how they don’t hurt at the end of the day. With my traditional bras, I couldn’t wait to pull them off at night. But because the surface area is greater with these, you don’t get that uncomfortable constriction feeling.
The Places We Go…
Thanks to my friend, Cathie, we got to see a Colorado Rockies vs Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. We were rooting for both teams, but the interesting part is that the stadium can be covered since it was over 100 degrees. Which makes for a very different experience.
Then we went to another hidden gem in Arizona as one of our blog field trips. I’ll have to create another post (the original post linked below) about wonderful places to visit in our area because it was amazing. The photo on the right is from the Eddie Basha Collection and it was extensive and incredible. Definitely, a great surprise because we didn’t know what to expect when we pulled up to it.
The last thing we explore is the Huhugamki Museum in Phoenix. No picture and it won’t make the post about amazing places to visit. You win some, and you lose some, right?

Thank with Google
I’m excited to announce that I’ve been selected to be one of Google’s paid early testers for their Thank with Google pilot program. Thank with Google is an experimental feature that allows my readers to purchase a virtual sticker to show their appreciation for the information in my article.
What I appreciate is that these virtual stickers are a source of revenue for me. Each sticker has a set price point associated with it, and my fans can include a personalized message to go with it. You can find the Thank with Google feature in multiple places on my site. If you try it out, let me know what you think! It makes my day to know that my work is appreciated.
Thank you
