August Memories

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Highlights of August

August Memories

Well, August has definitely been a month of changes, and non stop events. If we weren’t packing up to move in the middle of the month, then we were saying good bye to friends. And then once we got to AZ, it’s been unpacking galore. On top of the fact we had a fun trip to NYC planned long before we decided to move.

Park People for blog photos in August

Day 3: The last photo shoot with Nancy was exploring these fun Park People in downtown Denver. If you’d like to read more about the exhibit, I included it in the blog post.

August Bookclub

Day 5: My last book club with these wonderful women for awhile. It would be a huge commute to join them monthly while we are living in AZ, but it could happen. How wonderful when they gifted me this photo we had just taken that night.

Day 8: For our last blog photos here in Denver, we took the Union Station tour. Sure, we’ve been there before and enjoyed how wonderful it looks, but finding out the history behind it AND the amazing renovation, was incredible.

Friends meet up in August

Day 10: Another get together before we moved. This time it was with 2 women I went to dental school with over 27 years ago. Meet Candy and Tammy and the smiles aren’t just because of day drinks!!

Car trip to AZ in August

Day 14-15: Our “stuff” got packed in the moving truck and we took off in Rob’s SUV for the 900 miles trek to Phoenix. We were packed full with my mom in the front seat, and the two kitties and me in the back part. Along with our stuff that we would need for the 5 days until the moving van arrived at our new places. Luckily we bought a cargo carrier for the top of the SUV too. I am happy to report the kitties (and mom) did wonderful on the 14 hour ride. More about that in an upcoming post.

Coyote in AZ

Day 16: Nothing like a welcoming committee to say welcome to our new place. We have seen these coyotes a couple of evenings in our back area. People say they go from golf course to golf course where there is water then off to hunt the rabbits and quail that are all over. Luckily our kitties are indoor kitties.

Goodwill event in August in AZ

Day 17: It was National Thrift Day, and even though we had just gotten into town 2 days ago, we decided to celebrate with some fun with our friend, Lesley, who will be part of the blog now. The AZ Goodwill was having some demonstrations at a nearby store, which was a great way to get out and explore our area.

Vagrant visiting in August

Day 19: The other welcoming committee was coming home to this one day after errands. We called the sheriff who thinks it was a vagrant snorting spray paint. He left the empty spray paint can along with the envelopes from our mail he took from our mailbox. Because of this, Rob bought the Ring doorbell, and I’m pushing for a dog! The sheriff thinks it was because this place was for sale for 6 months, and the sign wasn’t taken down until the day after this.

InStyle magazine for September

Day 21: I was so excited when Eugenia reached out to me to tell me that we were showcased in the InStyle September 2019 Magazine. If you’re interested, we are on page 66. Eugenia, who is part of our Magnificent 8 (where we show 8 decades of women in the same style) and part of our Forever Fierce group on FB, is on page 72!! It’s so wonderful to see the magazine showcasing older women!

Day 24: I was SO excited to order my fall Peach items. While I am all about dressing for the weather, I still get excited for the new fashion styles and trends. And Peach’s theme for fall is Into the Wild. This skirt has been in my closet for over 10 years and it’s one of those pieces I’ve considered problematic. Yet when I ordered this lightweight, moto jacket, I was happy to see how well it goes with my skirt!

Day 26: These two do not like each other too much. Not that they fight, but the black and white (Spookie) one tends to hiss at Monkey. So imagine my surprise at seeing them so close together today. Maybe our cross country car trip was a bonding experience for them?? LOL!!

Day 27-31: NYC!!!
