Black & White for the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s: Exclusively
Black & white is a color combination that is widely seen everywhere! Heck, there’s even a retail shop, White House/Black Market, that tailors to these colors (I know, I know….black & white are not “really” colors—but let’s be lax in the definition for this series).
Quote of the day: “Every minute is a new opportunity to make new decisions.” Maryjac from Weight Watcher’s Magazine
I’m positive you have an excessive amount of each hue in your closet. So I’m going to combine a black piece together with a white item and style these same selections in various ways–today is black & white exclusively! My only caution with this union of two colors is the “uniform” of black pants & a white shirt—you might get mistaken for the waitress (not that being a waitress is a bad thing—I was one once)!!!
Jodie’s (50’s) Outfit:
I picked a white skirt and black sweater for my foundation pieces. Notice the necklace & earrings are a knit stitch…Thanks to my friend, Bill Poliseo, who made them—make sure to check out his website!
Nancy’s (60’s) Outfit:
For Nancy’s foundation pieces, we used white jeans and a black & white print cardigan. The colors are very basic, yet the cardigan and her shoes are quite interesting.

Charlotte’s (70’s) Outfit:
Mom got to wear the ubiquitous black jeans with a black & white print blouse (which I have borrowed on occasion)! She also loves her spectator pumps…she has two pairs!!

Thanks for visiting my styling blog! Do you like wearing these colors alone?
