Bright Handbags for the 50's, 60's, & 70's.

Bright Handbag for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: Matching

Quote of the day: “Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don’t.” sign seen at Park Avenue Methodist Church, New York

We were gifted these handbags from AmiClubwear but I was not paid for this post.

Here’s a lesson I’m sure we’ve all heard over and over: Never judge a book by it’s cover.  This series of posts about a bright handbag is a great example.  When I was first contacted by AmiClubwear, I thought, “Really?  I’m an old lady, not a club goer!” And sure, many of their items are not my cup of tea.  But there are actually plenty of pieces that are great and would work in my world. And these purses are a prime example.  Today I’m styling them to match our outfits…not that I usually get dressed using  my purse as my inspiration.  But I might think about it when I grab it to leave for the day.  The first post in this series was showing these same purses as a pop of color (here).

Such pretty floral dresses. Love them all. The bags look great picking up a color in the dress. Charlotte’s skin is so beautiful – what is her secret?? Looks like she (and you) never made the mistake of going in the sun. Wish I’d listened to my mother! At least I’ve avoided the sun for the last 20 years! P.S. I want Charlotte’s dress – I just love soft tea-length floral dresses in the warm weather.

I’m so glad you said this about mom’s skin—she’s always putting herself down for being “so pale”, but really it looks terrific (she doesn’t believe me however!). I am good about staying out of the sun now, but it wasn’t always the case. When I was growing up, it was all about the Bain de Soleil tan, you know?

I am a fan of large purses and you have just given me an extra reason for using them!! 🙂
    Nice selection!

  • Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style

  • HAha … I too have been known to hide my knees behind a big purse! Great looks on all three of you! Love the fun bags and the floral dresses!
Love having you at Fun Fashion Friday!

    • Knees are a funny part of our anatomy, don’t you think? Have a fab weekend!!!

  • Hi Jodie, I love all of the florals here…very fresh. I’m not a matchy matchy fan but you all look beautiful here! Well put together.

    • I agree about the matchy matchy but I know my mom lives and breathes by it, so it’s good to please her every once in a while (since I make her stretch so much in the blog!)

  • Oh Jodie, you look stunning in your floral dress. So summery. You made me laugh with your knee covering bag strategy – not that you need it. I’m sure you have stupendous knees! Since I’ve starting blogging my bag collection has grown and I’m really enjoying using all my newly thrifted and sale bags! Sssh, just don’t tell the husband!

    • I will admit to caring a little more about my bags since I’ve started blogging! Thanks for the smile!

  • Hi 🙂 Coming to you from Mid-Life Bloggers! Really enjoyed all of the awesome ideas for how to pair up some of the handbags with outfits!! Really pretty 🙂 Thanks for sharing 🙂

  • Hi – have arrived from the MidLifeLuv linky party! You all look very beautiful and stylish. You put me to shame in my jeans and boots 😉 Gorgeous pictures and colors. Beautiful handbags too.

    • Hey Gilly…But jeans & boots are a great combination!!!

  • MaryAnne

You can’t beat a floral dress with a bright handbag. It makes all the colors just pop! As always, looking good ladies!

    • Thanks MaryAnne…Funny…I didn’t even realize they were all floral dresses…maybe all women have floral dresses?

  • Such great bags – I Love the bold colors. Y’all look so pretty in your floral dresses! I am glad you chose the green shoes to go with your mom’s dress. 🙂 So funny about using a large bag to cover your knees!

Please come join me for my new Fabulous Friday Link-up!

    • Thanks for the nice words…and the invite…will do!!!

  • Great purses, I have never thought about ordering from AMIClubWear #HighLatitideStyleLinkup

  • I am so terrible about switching out purses … just because it’s so much WORK! I did organize everything into little fabric bags & such, so it would be LESS work, but I still find myself using the same purse. I did find a bunch of pretty ones at the thrift store recently so I’ve got to just live a little & USE them hahaa

    • I really do agree with you…that’s why I like a colorful fun purse and I just rationalize that it looks fine with everything!!!

  • All three outfits are so beautiful. I absolutely love the idea of adding a belt to a dress. Very flattering.

    • Thanks Elisabeth! I’m sure I learned the trick of adding a belt from another blogger 🙂
