Casual Outfits with Ladies Joggers
We are styling casual outfits with ladies joggers. I’d love to thank Deb for asking about styling this item. Her question was two fold in the fact that she wanted some ideas of tops to wear with ladies joggers and also some footwear choices. I’ll give some tips for our top choices in the tips and tricks section below.

As for the footwear, this post will concentrate on sneakers because we were strolling around Benson Sculpture Gardens in Loveland, Colorado. These gardens were on Nancy’s bucket list to visit, so we figured it’d be a fabulous place to also take photos.
If you didn’t know about these joggers, I think their popularity is due to the big push of the athleisure trend that is still going strong. And even though many of them are more workout-related, I figured we could showcase casual outfits with ladies joggers and still look stylish.
In fact, we even challenged ourselves to take these exact same jogger pants and dress them up. Heck, adding heels and a nice top can do that to almost anything, right?
I have to add in Mireille because she just emailed me a photo of her wearing her joggers on her trip to the republic of Georgia. She said she wore them at least 2/3 of this trip and is thinking of wearing them on her car trip to New Orleans next week! They aren’t just for the kids!!
Since these pants end at your ankles due to the elastic, it’s a great way to show off any fun pair of sneakers which all 4 of us did here. Thanks so much to Lesley for joining us on this long day of fun and photos.

Why I Wore This Outfit
I didn’t have a pair of joggers in my closet when my reader asked about this style. Yet I knew that my mom still had more of this material from this top she had made. Therefore being the wonderful mother and seamstress that she is, she whipped up a pair so they would look like a jumpsuit.
I will warn you that my husband does not like these pants. He thinks I look like a clown in them, so if you feel the same way, you’re not the only one. That’s why I wore the bomber jacket tied around my waist to break up the pattern for him.
How You Could Change This Outfit
If the thought of such wide stripes along your entire body gives you a headache, then don’t despair. This would also work with a graphic t-shirt. And if your t-shirt is too long, I have many options of how to make it fit better. Either that or invest in one of the knotted t-shirts that are so popular right now. It’s like having a half tuck without the muss and fuss.
Interesting Tidbit
This purse is one of my favorites because of the embroidery and bright colors. It was an inexpensive find from Pier 1 Imports. That store is not one that I think of for clothes and accessory purchases, yet they have some fabulous finds at times.

Why Lesley Wore This Outfit
Lesley considers these pants for exercise and movement. Which is exactly why she brought along her dog leash, because she usually wears these for walking the fur babies. Since her early morning stroll with Dolly and Lilly would be cooler, she even included a cardigan.
Her cardigan is one of those shorter ones we just discussed a couple of weeks ago. I think the fact that Lesley left the blouse underneath hang below it, is a great way to keep the look modern.
How You Could Change This Outfit
I love that Lesley added her blush sneakers to this outfit. Maybe I’m repeating myself, but I think blush is a great option for our footwear. However, since we are starting into the colder months, you might get more wear out of black sneakers instead. Or even a dark red pair could work for the fall and winter.
Interesting Tidbit
The funny thing is Lesley just purchased these ladies joggers on her trip to California a month ago. She almost didn’t buy them, but her daughter talked her into them. And then I was styling the exact same piece for our blog. Talk about perfect timing.
And the coolest thing about her pair is they are only elastic in the back portion of the ankles. So from the front view they aren’t as obviously cuffed.

Why Nancy Wore This Outfit
Nancy found these joggers at a pop up boutique when we attended a fashion show earlier this year. She had to try them on over the pants she was already wearing because there was no dressing room.
Nancy’s comment about them is how comfortable they are and even Deb, who suggested this theme said the same thing about her pair. I was wondering if everyone found this to be the case?
How You Could Change This Outfit
Another option for a great top to wear as part of your casual outfits with ladies joggers would be an asymmetrical top. For some reason, I always think the different lengths of hemline takes the focus away from other issues.
Interesting Tidbit
These Jambu sneakers are another wonderfully comfortable shoe that Nancy wears so much. They are still available in the orange color for half price. You may not think that orange is a versatile color for your shoes, but they add a pop of color to so many outfits. And the orange works great in the spring and summer, yet also for the autumn because of the colors of falling leaves.

Why Charlotte Wore This Outfit
My mom was not super excited about the theme for these couple of posts. Until I came up with the idea of adding elastic to an existing pair of pants that needed to be shortened anyways.
For any of you thinking you might want to explore this trend, it’s not super difficult to add the elastic at the bottom hem.
How You Could Change This Outfit
For another option of tops to wear with your joggers would be one that is slightly flared or ruffled at the bottom hemline. I think this factor would cover the elastic waistband nicely and even camouflage if there is a drawstring tie.
Interesting Tidbit
This straw purse is more than ancient. Seriously, I think it’s older than I am. Because it’s so old, the straw is fraying at the fold, so my mom added a belt to create a strap and cover the fraying. Hopefully she’ll let it go to purse heaven soon, because it was a pain to open and shut and she couldn’t carry it by the belt strap anyways.
Ever since Lesley added a scarf to her hat earlier this summer, my mom has been inspired to do the same. It’s the perfect way to add color to an outfit. If you want to make sure the scarf or materiel doesn’t move or come off, then you can always safety pin it in place or use fashion tape.
Tips & Tricks
When Deb reached out to me about styling casual outfits with ladies joggers, her concern was the length and variety of tops to wear with them. She didn’t want to tuck in a top because it would add more bulk to her waist. What I’ve noticed is many of the joggers for sale are shown with a top that is half tucked or front tucked. I’m sure that’s so you can see the waistband when you’re purchasing it, but it’s a great option if you’re open to that style.
Otherwise, if your joggers fit well and aren’t too bulky with the elastic, I think you can wear the longer tops successfully. Like Lesley is showing in her outfit.
Some joggers have a drawstring tie in the front which can add extra bulk to your silhouette. If that irritates you, don’t let that be a distraction. You could most likely take out the string if there’s already elastic in the waistband.
This was my favorite sculpture because not only was it fun to pose around, it was also marble. And what I didn’t realize is that marble doesn’t absorb the heat like the metal sculptures did. So when you touched this one it was still COLD even though it was a hot and sunny day.
