Maybe you’ve heard about taking collagen as a supplement from friends. I feel like it’s a big industry now, so I wanted to share about the Collagen For Her brand review and our experience with it.
Just because the name says “For Her” doesn’t mean that men can’t benefit from this supplement. In fact, my husband is my main source for researching what we add to our routines.

Quote of the day: “If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.” Jack Kornfield
Taking care of ourselves is definitely important, and it’s not just about how we look, but also how we feel. With that being said, the best rule of thumb is to consult with your medical professional before taking any new supplements.
Personally, when I was living in Denver, my doctor did not believe in supplements and thought they didn’t do anything. As a retired dentist, I can understand that because we were taught certain things in our Western Medicine teaching. And until you try things out yourself, you believe what you have been taught.
Thank you to Collagen for Her for partnering on this post, all opinions are my own.
That’s why I like to try things out and test them myself instead of always believing the “experts”. Each of us is very unique and we need different things in our lives.
When I was working with my functional medicine provider (article found here), I appreciated that she took an interest in the supplements I was using and recommended to stop taking some and start others due to my blood work. I intentionally asked her about using collagen as a supplement and she responded that it was a great idea.

Case in point about “experts”. I’ve read more than one article that in the summer you should drink hot liquids to be cooler. And the “science” makes sense. Yet let me tell you that my personal experience after living in Arizona with over 100-degree days in the summer is that drinking iced drinks makes ME feel cooler.
What I’m trying to say is that sometimes you just need to try things yourself and see how it works.

Our Story with Collagen For Her & This Review
Rob and I have been adding collagen powder to our morning coffee for over 2 years now and can count at least 10 different brands we have tried. Some are messy, others have a taste to them, and still, others don’t dissolve well into your drink. And then the price of some brands is high. I’m all about quality products, but I am on a budget too.
How do we decide if the collagen we are using is helping? Rob can tell by how his fingers feel. Are they stiff, bend easily, and are they swollen? We call it the “finger test”, haha. Remember he is 5 years older than I am, so his joints have more wear and tear on them!
What you should know is that Collagen For Her reached out to me over a year ago and we tried the powder. But Rob didn’t feel like it helped that much, so we declined to share it on my blog.
Fast forward to a couple of months ago, when the company reached out again saying that they have been updating and improving their products.
With that information, we decided to consider doing a Collagen For Her review again, and have noticed that the product is better. When Rob does the finger test, his fingers feel good.
There are many other aspects to collagen, so let me share some of the details.
What Does Collagen Do?
Of course, there are debates about whether any collagen supplements really help. What is absolutely true is that your body breaks down whatever you put into it. And as for collagen supplementation, the body will use it for what it needs whether that be collagen or protein. I don’t think either of these is bad which is why we have been adding it to our routine.
Collagen makes up 30% of the protein in our bodies. It has been known to help with
1-Skin–for new cells to grow, giving more elasticity to the skin and replacing dead cells.
2-Joints–when your collagen levels decrease, you notice stiff and sore joints.
3-Bone health–it can inhibit bone breakdown, which we are fighting as we get older.
4-Muscles–Even if you aren’t a weight lifter, you need muscles for everyday living. In fact, I think one thing that keeps us young is to continue to move our bodies so the muscles don’t stop working. Case in point–do you have to use your arms to push yourself up to get out of a chair?
Even with supplements, it is important to look at the ingredients. And that is one aspect of Collagen For Her that is impressive. Easy to read ingredients. I was concerned about the natural flavor in the Beauty Blend, but this is the information we received:
“The “natural flavor” is simply a natural bitter blocker that helps with the typical fish taste that some other fish collagen’s have. Ours does not have the potent smell or aftertaste.”
Then I asked about the types of collagen in the products and this is what I was told. “Our Unflavored Bovine Collagen has types 1 and 3. Our Marine Collagen Beauty Blend is a mix of our marine collagen, biotin, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin-c. The Organic Matcha Collagen is a 2 ingredient mix of our unflavored bovine collagen and organic Japanese matcha. “
The other detail that is impressive is that all of their products are manufactured in a GMP-certified facility. Each batch of collagen is tested and comes with a certificate of analysis (COA) to ensure it is safe for consumption.
How We Use Collagen For Her
As part of this Collagen For Her review, I wanted to try out many of their products to give you options.
We have been using the Collagen Peptide Powder (in the pink jar), the Beauty Blend (in the blue jar), and the Matcha (in the green jar). I love that they also have the Peptide Powder in packets which would be convenient for traveling.
We add a scoop of the Collagen Peptide Powder or the Beauty Blend to our coffee in the morning. We switch it up to get a good mix of the two different collagens.
Then we also have iced tea for lunch some days. For that, we make hot green tea and add the Matcha powder to it in the morning. Into the refrigerator, it goes, and then it is nice and cold for the middle of the day.
I can tell you that you will not taste the Collagen Peptide powder or the beauty blend. There is a matcha taste to the Matcha powder, and it goes perfectly with our green tea.
It also dissolves so easily in hot liquids. The last thing you want is clumps in your morning drink.
I have heard of many women adding it to their smoothies and even over their cereal. Since it’s flavorless, there are no limits to how you can use it.
Comments from Others
When I asked about what other women my age experienced with collagen supplements in an Instagram story last year, here were some of the interesting comments.
Why do I include this? Because I think we can learn from everyone. These are not about the Collagen For Her brand, but they may still be relevant for your body.
One woman reported that she had an upset stomach from using marine collagen but the bovine collagen was better. It’s something to consider since there are two different sources of collagen powder.
Another woman commented that the brand she used had an “animal” taste. You definitely won’t get this with Collagen For Her.
Thank you again for supporting the brands that I enjoy and believe in by reading this Collagen For Her review. It’s a win-win for all of us when we share the things with each other that we love.
