50’s 60’s 70’s
Orange for the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s: the Neutral Version
Quote of the day: “Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” Marianne Williamson
I think orange is one of those unappreciated colors. It gets a big hooray at Halloween and then it’s quietly slipped under the rug for the rest of the year. I bet a lot of you hardly even have any orange in your closet (unless you are true Bronco fan here in Denver). There are many variations of orange including melon, rust and bright orange; so everyone can find a hue that looks good with their complexion! It’s a great way to add some color to those very basic and neutral outfits. I’ll show a sweater, a scarf, and then a top as examples of how to use this vibrant yet neglected color for your outfits. Besides haven’t you heard…Orange is the new black?
50’s Outfit: Here’s a perfect example of a basic outfit that needs some brightening up. A black skirt with a grey moto jacket and black & white shoes…it’s just screaming for some color!
Sweater: Sherry Taylor (similar here)~~Skirt: Carole Little (similar here)~~Moto jacket: Catherine Maladrino at Sam’s (similar here)~~Shoes: Ann Taylor (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)
60’s Outfit: Here is a wonderful example of a dress you might already own…black & white is classic and adding orange is a great way to liven it up.
70’s Outfit: The fur on the collar of this blazer really makes it stand out! Adding the orange shirt underneath gives some warmth to mom’s face!
Top: Wintersilks (similar here)~~Blazer: Jones New York (mom added the fur) (similar here)~~Skirt: mom made it (similar here)~~Shoes: 9 & CO (similar here)~~Necklace: (similar here)~~Earrings: (similar here)
