Orange for the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s: the Neutral Version

Quote of the day: “Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” Marianne Williamson

I think orange is one of those unappreciated colors.  It gets a big hooray at Halloween and then it’s quietly slipped under the rug for the rest of the year.  I bet a lot of you hardly even have any orange in your closet (unless you are true Bronco fan here in Denver).  There are many variations of orange including melon, rust and bright orange; so everyone can find a hue that looks good with their complexion!   It’s a great way to add some color to those very basic and neutral outfits.  I’ll show a sweater, a scarf, and then a top as examples of how to use this vibrant yet neglected color for your outfits.  Besides haven’t you heard…Orange is the new black?

Well Jodie, I ❤️ 🍊. Have many cardigans, sweaters, blouses, T’s, dresses, shoes and sandals. Love orange in prints too. Love it with navy. Love it with so many colors. The orange pieces above are all lovely and paired nicely.

Do you consider orange your favorite color, Kathleen?? Although the way it sounds, you seem to like all colors!! I can’t tell you how nice it is to hear that! Because a life without color seems so dull!!

I do love almost every color, but blue would be my favorite. Followed by purple, rose and teal!

  • I love a pop of orange, it’s so eye-catching. It’s so great that you showed how orange can flatter at any age! All three of you look so polished and stylish. ~Cynthia

  • I just realised that in my last closet edits I have been getting rid of orange items… but I do have a couple left in the closet.
I think all 3 women look marvellous and all have the best accessory: a smile.

    • Lorena, I’m glad you still have some orange in your closet! It’s such a bright, vibrant color!! Thanks for reading!

  • I confess I have no orange in my closet, unless you count Hermes boxes. Ha. I wanted to swing by and say thank you for joining us for “How I Wear My: Booties.” Your look is featured in my post. It’s wonderful to have you with us!

    • Hi Jill….Thanks for visiting (but really, you have NO orange?….let’s go shopping!!!)

  • I wear orange year round, pairing it with browns for Fall and with white for Summer. I love all the touches of orange in all three of these looks. Well done!
