Wearing Color Jeans Yet Still Getting Glammed Up

Quote of the day: “Praise does wonders for the sense of hearing.” Anonymous

We were gifted these jeans from Fabrizio-Gianni, but I was not paid to write this post. Nancy reviewed her pair at the bottom of this post.

The colored jeans trend is certainly more evident in the warmer months than in the fall & winter, but I’d love to change that concept.  I feel like the winter times are exactly when we need to dress in colors. Don’t you think it elevates your mood?  Call me crazy, but we all know there is a psychological component to color (see my post on the experiment for you to try here)!

To give you a little insight about these jeans, they are a nice lightweight cotton with a good amount of spandex. This means, they won’t stretch out (too much) after a couple hours and be saggy in the rear. I’m showing the same colored jeans you saw in the former post for an informal day (here), dressed up differently so you could wear them for a fancier event!

50’s Colored Jeans: My pearl earrings were a present when I turned 16.  They were taken off my mom’s wedding dress and made into extensions for my pearl studs.

60’s Colored Jeans: I think layering your necklaces is a wonderful way to add some pop to your shirts!  For this example, we went with a short gold necklace, a longer pearl necklace & then a very long gold & pearl necklace to try to tie them all together.

70’s Colored Jeans: Mom’s “necklace” is actually a belt that she’s had for years!  It’s a great way to add sparkle to her ensemble.

I realize that most of us don’t think about jeans when we get dressed up. But I think we’ve shown how you can do it and still look nice! Add sparkles, bling and heels, and you’re good to go!

Here’s Nancy’s (60+ model) take on her jeans. She was happily surprised that the jeans fits so well. Since her measurements didn’t match perfectly with the online sizing guide, she was concerned about the fit. I’m sure it’s helpful that the jeans have spandex in them!! She loves the color but did find she needed to iron them after washing.

  • Looking good, ladies! I really like the colors each of you selected. Your mom’s belt/necklace is such a great idea! In the winter I like to wear burgundy, olive, and tan jeans. I just purchased some blush jeans I an really looking forward to wearing soon.

    • I’m lovin’ the blush too….just got a leather jacket that color!!! Have a great weekend Jennie!!

  • happinessatmidlife

I love all 3 looks. I have a ton of color jeans that have been sitting in the closet and will wear them once it cools down.

Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday.

  • Jodie, I just love these looks and own a few pair of colored jeans! So much fun to wear. Thanks for sharing these great ideas on #TheLeisureLink!

    • It’s nice to hear that other women (read, not girls) wear colored jeans! I think it’s a great touch!

  • You know I am all about pops of color! These jeans look fabulous on all you ladies! I have some gold ones that I featured in a post a couple weeks ago and I’m wearing them a lot this fall. Thank you so much for the linking up with the inaugural My Refined Style!! Can’t wait to see the goodness you ladies bring next month!

    • Thanks Andrea!! I checked out the post, and I love the gold jeans with the leopard shoes!! Great inspiration…thanks!!!

  • dan

I don’t wear jeans anymore but this yellow pair is great on you! And the soft gray of your top is just perfect with it!

    • Thanks Dan…I never even thought that I do always see you in dresses/skirts! How come no more jeans?

  • Jodie, I so agree! Who says you have to wear only dark, somber colors in the cold months? I am thrilled to have you join our first My Refined Style Linkup…I hope you will come back for many more!

    • That’s why we’re “friends” Shellie….we both like color and good style!!!

  • I agree that cooler seasons aren’t just for neutrals and darker shades. I love wearing my brights year round as mood boosters. You did a great job with dressing them up.

    • Thanks Tracey…you & I are a lot alike…because it really does make me happier to wear the brighter colors!!

      • Well that’s a compliment to have things in common with you! Thank you. Have a wonderful weekend.

  • Love this! My mom is a big colored jeans person – I need to get on board!

  • Coloured jeans can be really tricky, Jodie.
They can look a bit Chavvy…I don’t know if you have the word “Chav” over there!?
Anyway, You have managed to pull off 3 potentially tricky looks.
Yellow and grey is classic and beautifully feminine.
Nancy is a class act (as always) and your Mum is beautiful in her aqua and pink….so beautiful!

    • Had to look up “chav”…still not sure I quite understand, but I think you liked it. Now we’ll see if you approve of tomorrow’s…ha ha!!! Maybe I’d like to be “chavvy”???

  • Wendy

I do have a pair of red jeans – it took a whole lot of courage to wear them the first time, though! 🙂 And I absolutely adore your earrings and your mother’s necklace! How creative!!

    • Funny, because that’s exactly how I felt the first time I got my red jeans…I kept thinking they were too “young”! Luckily, I’m over that and I’m glad to hear you are too!!

  • All of these ladies look GREAT in coloured jeans. It is a refreshing blast of colour, and a nice change from the usual denim and black, isn’t it?

    • Thanks Lisa! It is nice to have an option besides the dark colors!!

  • I love this inspiration. First…that’s your mom? She’s amazing! Love her outfit and she looks so beautiful.

I feel that in winter I wear only white and then I jump into color as soon as spring hits. I miss color! Now I have to get myself some colored jeans. I need to find outfits (I’m terrible at this) for some events I have in October. Thanks for the help!

    • I love putting together outfits…I’d love to lend a hand if you’re at wit’s end…seriously (just email me and i’ll give you my phone #—you can text me pictures of options)!! And I’ll tell mom your wonderful thoughts…it’ll make her day!!

I remember colored jeans being all the rage in the early 80s….teal, purple, red. I guess they are in again! #debbieinshape

    • Doesn’t everything come around again? Did you like them in the 80’s?

  • I love colored jeans. I must assume I don’t buy them much because I try to keep my closet so classic as possible (great money savior). Beautiful combinations. I have a thing for the 70s style.
    Thanks for sharing it!

    • Totally makes sense to keep your wardrobe classic…i just get so bored with the same ole/same ole!! Thanks for the love Debbie!

  • I’m really enjoying this series! I didn’t bring any colored jeans with me to Vegas because they were all too small. ;-( Love all three colors represented here!

    • Now that’s a great reason to go to the thrift store!!!

  • You all look beautiful!! Love the 3 options, especially the 60s one.
    Great post Jodie!
