Colorful Ageless Style: Summer Brights From Day to Night
Jamie from our Ageless style group came up with the idea of styling summer brights from day to night. I know when the weather gets warmer, we do feel more comfortable pulling out our brighter clothing. Then the three of us took the same outfit and transformed it from day to night with a couple of accessories and change of footwear.
Quote of the day: “Stop being obsessed with what other people think. Your job is to process, discuss and manage your own feeling-not theirs.” @SuzetteStyleJourneys
Wearing color can seem intimidating for some people, yet my friend from Instagram shared the best quote above. Too many times we say a style or color isn’t “us”. But I will counter that many times it’s just we aren’t used to seeing us wear something. Remember there is a huge psychology behind color so make sure what you are wearing is telling the world how you feel!
Summer Brights From Day to Night
The three of us each wore a summer bright dress and changed up the extras to take it from day to night. It will be interesting to see how the other women in our Ageless Style group tackle this same idea.
One of the first times Lesley joined us on the blog for photos back in Denver was when my stepmom was on one of her travels. The funny thing is the theme was also about summer brights which you can check out here. I always think it’s so interesting to look back at older posts because even though we think styles change every season, sometimes they really don’t.
Charlotte in a Floral Shirt Dress
My mom took the same floral shirt dress (that we found in a consignment shop) and made it casual for the day with white sandals and white accessories.
The white purse can be made into a belt bag or a shoulder bag.
Then for a dressier look, she put on some orange heels, longer earrings and a matching purse.
Lesley in a White Dress
A white dress is iconic for the summer season. Lesley is showing a white linen dress that she bought on one of our trips to a small town nearby.
For daytime she envisioned a shopping trip. The hat, shades and tote are the necessities. Since shopping means a lot of walking, the sandals are comfy for this occasion and the tote will get filled up with purchases.
Evening means a leisurely dinner under the stars with a gorgeous man. It was easy to change to a sexy wedge sandal that can still be worn for dancing or strolling after dinner.
The clutch purse adds a pop of color and can be worn as a clutch or you can pull out the chain to wear it on your shoulder.
Then the scarf gives added wearmth and creates a fluttering effect in the evening breezes. Lesley tied it as a cocoon shrug but it can also be styled as a shawl or around your neck.
Jodie’s Yellow Dress
This yellow print dress was gifted through eShakti last year. If you haven’t tried eShakti, it’s a wonderful way to get the details on the dress that you want without having to pay for alterations. For example, on most dresses you can customize the neckline, sleeves and length as part of the price. And the fees are not more than what you’d pay anywhere else (plus they have a sale tab). I was not paid to promote this site but I think it’s fabulous if you don’t alter clothing yourself. Or if you are always looking for 3/4 length sleeve items and can never find them.
For my summer bright for a day look, I just added sneakers, a baseball cap (that says Weekend) and layered a sleeveless blouse over top to act as a vest.
My evening look included some matching yellow heels and a pop of bright pink. The dress came with a self belt, but I chose a bright pink one to pop that color from the dress and match my earrings. The purse is yet another bright color, but to me that’s the idea about summer brights–the more, the merrier!!
Ageless Style with Summer Brights
Here are the other women in my Ageless Style group. I hope you pop over to see how they styled their summer brights looks! I always find so much inspiration from each and every one of them.
