I don’t think I’ve worn dresses as much as I have since moving to Arizona. For me, skirts and dresses are MUCH cooler in our heat, and there are tons of ways to casualize them for our way of life. But I did wear pants one day this week.
I think you would enjoy signing up for the emails below. In addition to the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits about what’s going on in my life, along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

SATURDAY
It was hot today, so I decided to try to wear a kimono as a dress.
My tricks:
-belted it
-used magnets and pins for the side slits
-A sports bra worn under it
Then a friend gave me a bunch of necklaces, so I decided to wear them all at once…very Iris Apfel, yet almost hidden with the print. See the top photo for more details.
Red sandals and small earrings were added to finish it off.
SUNDAY
This is the eShakti dress that all of you helped me pick out a couple of years ago. Maybe it’s not my best color, but it’s super cool.
Today I ruched it with 3 bracelets (the other hoop bracelets are on my wrist).
Here is a tutorial on how I created the “buttons”. FB video
PS. I would love it if you view the video, give it a thumbs up, and either save or share it. That helps me out with the algorithm.
The dress originally hangs as an a-line and falls to my ankles, as seen in the article about when my outfit matches artwork.
Today I wore bright pink sandals and a hair ribbon.
And my bendable necklace around my bicep.

MONDAY
It’s not always easy to wear “jeans” with our heat, but I have a dental appointment, so I know the office will be ACed.
I wore my menswear vest that I’ve had since my working days (over 11+ years ago), along with this peplum top (seen here from 2019).
I added in color with these bright orange thrifted jeans, and the rest is pure sass:
-thrifted silver heels
-brooches above the buttons of the vest
-statement earrings
-bold eyeglasses
TUESDAY
I hadn’t pre-planned an outfit for today, so I decided to see if I could transform my dog walking outfit.
The dog walking outfit was the white tennis skirt (worn with a blazer in the past), this graphic tee (that I’ve worn 5 different ways), and my red sneakers from this collaboration.
I came up with 3 unique ways to change up the basic look, and 1 was to add a topper. Now the topper doesn’t have to be a jacket. It could be a button-up top or a kimono…the options are endless.
Then I added my denim hat and sparkly earrings, I was good to go for a day of errands and dog training class.
Style tip: Choose sneakers in a totally different colorway for a modern take. Do NOT match anything else to them.

WEDNESDAY
Even though I planned to wear something the night before, the weather was chillier than expected, so I changed everything.
I grabbed this long-sleeved polka dot wrap dress and added a dotted wrap sweater over it.
The sweater is longer and boxy, so I wrapped the back portion to make it more fitted and tucked it under the dress’s wrap belt, which is tied around my waist.
I was happy to wear sneakers for another day, and these are Cariuma brand, which is very sustainable and not as expensive as you’d think for that type of practice.
Sparkle added with my brooch (to hold my dress together) and earrings.
It could be a bit Kermy (Kermit the Frog) with my green headband and green glasses. LOL.
FRIDAY
More ideas for wearing a kimono as something other than a topper.
Today, I used a couple of magnets to make this kimono become a “top.”
It’s the same kimono I made into a skirt last year.
My mom made the dress for me years ago, and I wore some thrifted floral wedges with the outfit.
A baseball cap is trendy now, and it works to casualize the look. Plus, raffia earrings and floral eyeglasses.
