Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.18.23

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Some people may be talking about how summer is ending, but here in Arizona, we can count on summer continuing into September and October. So you’ll be seeing lots of bare legs and shoulders for a while.

Saturday

Dress: Won in giveaway~~Sandals: Old Navy

It was a lazy day, so I wanted something easy to wear. Which means, I usually grab a dress. This t-shirt dress is so pretty but very boxy. It didn’t come with a belt, so I grabbed a self-belt from my stash.

Insider tip: Take off all self-belts from items and store them together. Then you can easily wear them with other things or even as scarves.

BTW, I made a video of how I tied the belt, if you’re interested.

I matched the sandals to the belt. I’ve had these sandals for over 6 years. They were my first foray into block heels and while they’ve seen better days, I still love them.

And I continued with more color with my raffia earrings from Amazon which are under $10.

Sunday

Jeans: Oliver Logan~~Top: handknitted by me~~Sandals: Franco Sarto-DSW

We were going to a movie today, so I wore appropriate items. (I always freeze in the movie theater). I bought these wide-leg jeans when Naomi & Ruth went out of business. I have them in the ivory color too and I love the fit and the fact that they are a sustainable brand.

This “top” is one that I handknit and just finished putting the trim on. The pattern was for a sweater (with sleeves), but I decided to stop and make it a sleeveless tank instead.
BTW, as with almost all of my hand-knitted pieces, it’s not exactly perfect. I had to cheat on the armholes because they would have been too small (who knows what I did wrong). So there is an upwards “v” at the top. I’ll post a video about it soon so you can see what I mean.

I wore my pink sandals to lighten up the look and handmade “J” earrings from my 2 favorite sisters on Instagram, Lil Shop of Ours. They can customize almost all of their earrings for you.

Insider info: The movie theater was NOT freezing, and I didn’t even need my jacket. And in case you didn’t realize, jeans can be hot, LOL!!

Monday

Dress: from Just Be Youtiful online last year~~Topper: from Just Be Youtiful in store (but she will ship)~~Sandals: Naot-won in a giveaway

I’m helping out at my favorite, local boutique’s event tonight, so I wanted to wear her pieces. This dress looks a lot more blue in real life and was my first item from her website. I was happily surprised at the nice quality and I wear it a lot.

It has an elasticized waist, so adding a topper over it is a nice way not to need a belt.

This crochet topper was worn when I talked about wearing a tank top for summer, and it’s one of those statement pieces that look great with pants or dresses. (And reach out to Just Be Youtiful if you want one. She still has some in ivory and black).

I accessorized with green jewelry and cactus earrings (and a pin that is hard to see in the photo).

My shoes are from the brand Naot which is sustainable and have moderate arch support included. They aren’t inexpensive, but for those of us who need arch support, they can help. Some of their shoes have too much arch for me, but these sandals feel good.
This “Pixie” style is still available in many colorways.

Tuesday

Shorts: Old Navy~~Top: Entro-from Just Be Youtiful~~Sandals: Vivaia

I decided to do another matchy outfit like my green one from last week. This time I paired this new tank from Just Be Youtiful (which is incredibly soft) with my Bermuda shorts.

These shorts were a great find from Old Navy. They don’t have this color anymore, but they have a darker red pair for only $15 the last I checked.

I decided to add in another color with my shoes and accessories, and today I chose light blue.

These are my Zeelool glasses that are such a fabulous statement. They have a bunch of different styles to get you noticed.

Wednesday

Overalls: Old Navy~~Top: Tankini from Lime Ricki c/o~~Sandals: Steinmart

I wouldn’t have worn shorts two days in a row except that I just shortened these overalls and made them shorts so I wanted to wear them. You’ve seen these overalls styled many ways last year.

My thinking about shortening them is I might wear them more. Because just like jumpsuits, they aren’t super convenient to layer over. And I thought it would be fun to wear them with one sleeve and sleeveless items. Which, of course, would be easier in the warmer months.

I thought I’d style it with this tankini top which meant I didn’t even need a bra!

Orange sandals, colorful earrings (found on Amazon), and my new pair of statement eyeglasses. This pair of eyewear is from Jim Halo and is called “Charlotte”. The brand has a lot of fun styles that are very inexpensive.

Friday

Skirt: Anthropologie-Goodwill~~Top: Banana Republic~~Sneakers: Cariuma

This skirt is one of those you look at when shopping and think, when would I wear that? But I decided to take the challenge a year ago when we wanted to see about thrifting for special occasion outfits (see it styled then).

The material of the skirt seems like home decor elastic and is heavyweight. Yet because it balloons out so much, it’s actually easy to wear in the summer because it doesn’t touch my body.

It may be one of those pieces you used to put on and ask, “Does it make my butt look big?” And now since I could care less if I look big, it’s fun to wear interesting clothes.

This top I wore for our Puerto Rico trip and styled it with the matching skirt for one of our dinner looks.

I thought it would be fun to add yellow to the outfit instead of keeping my shoes and accessories neutral. The yellow brooch at my waist is one of my favorite tricks.

These yellow sneakers are Cariuma brand. It’s a sustainable company that is easy on the wallet. I have the white canvas ones in my usual size and these yellow canvas ones in a half size bigger. I like the bigger ones in summer when my feet swell a bit.

You can see how I’m really enjoying the statement glasses I’ve added to my collection lately.

Thank you
