It looks like I missed the chance to wear shorts this week, but I did take advantage of wearing many of the items I thrifted last week. And I also wore a couple of things that I’ve had for ages.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
I only got to wear this outfit for about 3 hours because we spent the morning cleaning off the patio. But then we went to run errands and this was my look.
These grey pants have been in my closet for about 10 years. I didn’t wear them much in Denver because they are so lightweight and I “thought” of them as winter pants because of the color.
Which is silly. The material makes them warm-weather pants instead, but I still don’t wear them much here in AZ.
I’ve been thinking of making them into shorts. I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
I thought the pastel, feminine top worked as a nice juxtaposition with the grey pants.
And then these pink peep toe shoes that I’ve had for over 12 years. I added a pink belt, a pink headband, and charms to my glasses.
Sunday
It’s funny because when I went to the Your Revolving Closet site to see the brand of this top, I saw that I was wearing it wrong. The flower is pinned and I had it in the wrong place. Once I saw this, I changed it, but really it’s fine either way.
The skirt is a recent thrift purchase and I’m sure it was handmade because of the seams and the absence of a label. The embroidery of the material is incredible. What I noticed is the hem looks glued, so I might sew it down instead.
Then these incredible shoes. I shared a closeup of the heel in my email. They were thrifted for $8 and had never been worn. After I got home, I checked the brand’s site and most shoes run around $100.
Insider tip: The sizing of shoes is not standardized just like clothing. These sandals were a size 8 and I usually wear a 7 or 7.5. Yet these fit me perfectly, so I’m glad I ignored the size and tried them on.
With the flower pin, I decided to keep my accessories relatively minimal. Minimal for me, at least, LOL.
Monday
I only included the shrug because we are going to the movies and it’s usually cold in the theater.
Both the shrug and belt I found while thrifting last weekend and they both are green and lilac colors. I didn’t even realize it until I got home because they are from separate stores.
Because the colors are so vibrant, I chose my cork sandals that I purchased when Ros was having one of their amazing sales. The best way to know about the sales is to sign up for their newsletter. I try to share the events in my email, but sometimes I don’t hear about it until the day it’s happening.
I added long silver earrings made by a local designer and my lime green glasses.
Tuesday
Today was Tai Chi so a functional outfit was mandatory. I’ve worn these joggers with a different vest in the past. Originally the joggers were too long in the torso, so I rolled over the waistband and sewed it in place. That’s why you don’t see the ties anymore.
And then I wore one of the new items–this vest– that I recently found for $1. There was a place in the back where the yarn had started to unravel, but I easily fixed that with a crochet hook and brown thread.
And I wore the sweater vest with a strappy bralette. If I had been the type of person who purged things if I hadn’t worn them in a year, I wouldn’t still have this bralette. I didn’t know or have the right things to pair with it when I first bought it over 5 years ago. Yet I’ve worn it more in the last year than ever before.
I wanted sneakers that would stand out and add color. These floral ones have been a fabulous addition to my closet but I wished I had worn my bright pink ones for more pop.
This headband is over 12 years old (made by a former patient when I was working) and I wore floral earrings to bookend the sneakers.
Wednesday
I try to wear the things I’ve thrifted soon after I bring them home. Both the skirt and “top” were from last weekend but from different stores.
I don’t have a lot of red bottoms in my wardrobe as of now, so this maxi skirt was a great find. And it fits without needing to shorten it.
Insider tip: Thrifted clothes have already been worn, washed, and dried a majority of the time, so you don’t have to worry about them shrinking more.
I have been searching for more large scarves when thrifting so I can transform them into other clothing items.
This blueprint one had the prettiest border, so I doubled it and made it into a top. I shared the back view in my email.
Then I wore gold sandals (still available, on sale, and super comfy), gold earrings, and red toppers for my glasses.
Friday
Another $1 purchase from my thrifting adventures last weekend was these cotton pants. I realized that I don’t have much red in my closet, so I’m trying to remedy that.
This one-shoulder top is actually a skirt. You’ve seen me wear it 5 different ways before and one time was as a top but different than in this picture. Last time, I used the waistband above my girls and gathered the extra material into an elastic at my waist.
This time, I turned the skirt upside-down so the waistband was at my waist and the bottom hem of the skirt was near my neck.
I used my Maggie’s magnet on my shoulder. Isn’t that fun?
My original thought was to wear beige sandals, but then I decided my yellow changeable straps would look good.
This brand is still having a summer sale (code SUMMER40). I’m still disappointed that the color rubs off of my blue patent straps but my patent yellow ones are fine. I suggest sticking to the leather straps and also ordering a size for the straps.
I accessorized with gold jewelry and even wore a gold bling pin at my waist. My gold “J” necklace is from Maison de Camille and you can get 20% off with code Jodie20.
