Collage of December in photos

If someone asked you what you did this December, what would you say? I think it can be so hard to remember specific days and events when every day goes by in a flash, right? So I joined up with a couple of other bloggers to keep track of the month of December with a sentence day and some photos. There’s a link up below if you’d like to see the other’s participating in this project, and a huge thanks for Leslie for organizing us!!

12-1: Nancy’s church has their Figgy Pudding Party every year which is full of holiday songs, bells and stories. It’s such a perfect way to welcome in December.

Wassail Days in Frisco

12-2: The 4 of us travelled up to Frisco for their Wassail Days. It was such a fun day, and you’ll be able to read more about it next month on the blog.

12-3: Today we visited the Cat Care Society because they were having a Santa Paws event to raise money for their shelter. You might have seen on Instagram Stories that I wore my new cat leggings to the event….

Book Club holiday party

12-4: It was our fabulous book club tonight which was the yearly and highly anticipated holiday party. BUT on top of that our washing machine decided to kick the bucket this morning…..ugh!

12-5: It was a more relaxed day, while I got to try out our new washing machine. It’s amazing how they’ve changed in the last 18 years!!

Lunch at Seasons 52

12-6: Since it’s my birthday month, we usually go shopping to use my birthday coupons and enjoy some food too! Today we went to Seasons 52 for lunch and then some shopping afterwards.

Paradise Baggage presentation

12-7: It was so fun to present at Paradise Luggage about what to pack for the holidays. I hope you’ll check out the post if you missed it.

12-8: One of my side jobs is to unpack and fill orders for a friend who sells supplements and herbs, so it was an unpacking day today.

12-9: Lots of sleeping in, relaxing, and then running errands today!! Of course that includes some photo sessions!!

Christmas Choral

12-10: We spontaneously decided to attend a Choral Christmas Concert at the Basilica downtown!! We are usually planners to the extreme, so this was out of the norm!! Yet, oh, so fun!

12-11: I finally got to catch up on a bunch of blogging and inside photos!

12-12: A trip to the airport to pick up our neighbors for a short visit to their “Colorado home.”

Knit Day Holiday Party

12-13: Our knitting day women had our holiday pot-luck and gift exchange too. It’s always fun to get a variety of fun items that are not always knitting things.

12-14: Rob called this cannoli day because we traveled over 30 minutes to pick up the cannolis for the Progressive Dinner party tonight. Now that’s a true Italian who loves food, right?

Bea's surprise party

12-15: Happy Birthday to me! And another friend of mine who was surprised with an 80th birthday celebration that we attended!! Say “hi” to Bea, who I used to work for as a waitress at their restaurant when I was in dental school, and then was even their dentist while I had my practice.

12-16: After a fabulously wonderful birthday, we slept in until after 8 am (eeek) and stayed in our pj’s all day.

12-17: The wonderful thing about my birthday month is trying to use all of the free items and discounts that the stores give you. Today we traveled to Panera, the Paper Chandelier, Savory Spice and Kohls.

12-18: Finally I was able to get some alterations finished and clean up the house.

12-19: We set off to get my free scoop of ice cream at Baskin Robbins for my birthday and the store was closed for remodeling……Bummer!! So we went to Panera instead for the December daily free bagel!

Handknitted sweater with Icelandic yarn

12-20: It was a great day to get things done around the house like blocking my sweater that I talked about in my fall bucket list, altering a pair of jeans for a neighbor, and scheduling some Instagram posts!

Blog photos with the crew

12-21: We are trying a new format for taking photos for the blog. Now that Rob is retired, we are going to try to take them all together every week. Of course, we will have to see how this works with my mom’s schedules—they are always super busy!

12-22: Today was a full day of errands, and fun to use up the rest of my birthday rewards.

Knitted hat

12-23: We stayed in today and I was able to get a lot of alterations and knitting finished. The above knitting project was finished with the leftover yarn from the fair isle sweater. It’s a 2 in 1 hat. You push the one end inside of the other and voila—you have either a striped hat or a cabled hat!

12-24: The whole family (that means, Rob, Nancy, Charlotte & myself) went to see the movie “The Greatest Showman” together.

12-25: Merry, Merry Christmas from Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Ice Castles in Dillon

12-26: We were invited to see the Ice Castles in Dillon, Colorado, and it was perfect timing since we were coming back from our trek to Glenwood Springs. You can see a ton more of these images in the highlight section of my Instagram profile and soon many will be included in a blog post.

12-27: It always seems to take at least a good day to catch up, unpack and get things organized after getting away. Am I the only one?

Behind the scenes of a photo shoot

12-28: Here’s a behind the scenes of our photo shoot for the day!

12-29: Running errands took up most of the day, but how fun to be able to do it with my hubby and on a Friday since he’s now retired!

12-30: Another stay at home day (except for the trip to the dry cleaners and then church).

12-31: All 4 of us (that’s Charlotte, Nancy, Rob & I) went over to my friends house to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Not that we stayed up until midnight, but it was fun!!

Thanks so much for linking up with me.

    • I felt like this month was actually tamer than most, Shelbee. Although with the holidays AND my birthday, how could I not be happy?
      Thanks for reading the craziness!!

  • What a great December for you! All the photos are lovely.

  • Mother Daughter

You were one busy lady in Dec. Jodie. Love your knitted sweater.

    • It’s true that December seems to be busy, but it’s a good busy!!

  • WOWWWWWW love the sweater-
and I was at my uncle`s house a few weeks ago but he’s remodelilng the patio where the crosses are hung. I owe you that picture still 😉

    • Thanks Lorena!!
I still haven’t gotten around to hanging my hubby’s crosses (bad, bad wife), so if you find a photo–I’d love to see it!!!

  • Such a fun post Jodie! I would try it but my post would be rather repetitive for January…work/eat/sleep…and I can’t even remember what I did for most of December! I love the fair isle sweater and hat – what a fab idea to have a two-in-one! Double layered for warmth too 🙂 Thanks for linking up!

    Emma xxx

    • That’s exactly what I thought at first, Emma—each month is really the same. But now that I take a little piece from everyday, it does feel fun to remember those things!!
      Thanks Emma!!

  • fabulous pictures, love the cardigan so much

  • Missy May

Looks like December was packed for you ladies. Surely looks fun!! That blue sheath dress on you is all kinds of awesome. Wow!!

  • Nikki Gwin

Your schedule is so jam packed! I feel lazy. haha I have GOT to see those ice castles one day. I saw someone else mention those.
    🙂 gwingal

    • I’m not really that busy Nikki!! The best part about December, is we got to sleep in most days, which is such a blessing!!!

  • This is such a lovely post – hope 2018 is everything you wish for and can’t wait to see more!

    Layla xx

  • Hi Jodie, I’m thinking the same as Jacqui, below: what a busy December you’ve had! It sounds so sociable and happy, and you are so super organised – I feel like a sloth in comparison! I am looking forward to reading your blog in 2018 and my very best wishes to you and your family.

    • I don’t really get much done, Jacqui!! It just seems like it..ha ha!!!
There’s a lot more hanging out, napping and snacking than I admit to in this post!!!
      Thanks and happy 2018!!!

  • Deb’s World

Wow, what a month Jodie! I love your cardigan and hat, they look amazing!! Happy belated birthday, it was mine on 12/12 so we get to share our birthday month together. You passion and enthusiasm always blow me away, love it!!

    • I don’t mind having a December birthday anymore—it sure makes the month full of fun and celebrations!!!
      Thanks, and happy 2018!!

  • Mariann Yip

Wow you fitted lots into December – hope you had fun. x Thanks for hosting Jodie. x Jacqui

  • I loooove your beautiful sweater…! Your IG post where you pair it with the Bflo Check shirt = 😍. I can’t make out the buttons, though… What’s on ’em? I can’t believe a person can make such a detailed yoke…sounds like math or note keeping. Very, very impressive.

Happy to read about your spontaneous visit to the Basilica. Those are the best kinds of surprises at Christmas. And your photos of Glenwood were spectacular! Thanks for sharing!

    • You have such an eye for detail, Em—the buttons are little monkeys and owls. My neighbors bought the buttons when they purchased the kit, so I figured I needed to change the pattern to a cardigan so I could incorporate them into the sweater!! But knitting that yoke is no big deal—I just follow the pattern.
And I was so surprised when I paired it with the plaid shirt—I almost think it was made to go together!! But I need to make sure and try it with other shirts too…..

  • cherri

It looks like you had a great time! Happy Belated Birthday! x

  • This is such a fun way to remember the month, and what a great month is was! I love how you all are always out doing things and enjoying life.

    • Thanks Amy Ann!! My husband especially loves this post to remember what happened every month! There’s so much going on in our lives, that sometimes we forget (especially when you get old like me…ha ha)

  • Ira

Loving the pictures! Happy New Year:)

  • I always enjoy your monthly roundups Jodie! I must say thank you for convincing me to get OTK boots this fall. They have been saving my legs these last few days of serious cold! I’m back in Michigan where it was -6 this morning (not including windchill!) and those boots have kept me toasty as well as stylish! Have a great weekend!

    • Aren’t the OTK boots just so practical, Julia?? Now if only my other friends could get past the stigma of them—they’d be happy too!!!
      Thanks Julia!!

  • Polished Whimsy

Love the idea of a sentence a day to keep track of the month. Also loved getting to know you through them and the photos!

    • Thanks so much Elsie!! It has been a fun project, and it’s easier than I thought since we tend to take photos almost daily anyways!!!
      You should join us??

  • The behind the scenes photo is really cool! And it looks like you had a wonderful December – I really loved the sounds of the Santa Paws event. 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful January too, Jodie!

    • Thanks so much Lindsey!!
I always love to see other blogger’s behind the scenes because it gives me ideas of how to do things!! I’ll have to include more!!

  • Yiotou_La

Such a great month for you!! Love your photos and the outfits!! December was such a busy but beautiful month for me too!

  • Such a fun month! Love the behind the scenes shoot pic. Gemma x

    • Thanks Gemma!! It’s fun to see if from this angle, right?

  • I love that you wrote a little about each day – it is a great way to remember what happened. I love the 2-in-1 knit hat. And, washers have really changed – we got a new one last year – and wow!

    Daily Style Finds

    • Isn’t it funny how a new appliance can make such a difference?? Not that I want to replace everything all of the time, but it’s a good lesson that change can be good!!
      Thanks Lisa!

  • Courtney Hardy

Looks like a lot of fun. I love all of the pictures you took.

  • I love December’s recap! So much time spent with family, I feel like that’s what December needs to focus more on. So much fun! I hope your January is going good so far!

    • Thanks so much Laura!!
It is nice when you can focus on the family!!

  • Karen

I always love these posts where you highlight your activities!

    • Thanks Karen!! I always wonder if other people like them. But Rob really enjoys reading back about the month, so I do it for him!!

  • Judy Gramith

Your knitting is so beautiful Jodie!! What a great month of festive activities. You folks really know how to enjoy each other.

    • Thanks so much Jude!!
I’d really missed knitting, and winter is the time that I get the most knitting done, so it’s been so wonderful!!

  • Looks like a fun month!! Hope you enjoyed your holidays!

  • Oh a belated happy birthday to you ! (I don’t recall if I wished you that on your birthday, apologies if I missed it!) It’s great you had such a fun December, it’s always so busy in the lead up to Christmas but you had a nice mix of activities there 🙂

Happy new year! Hope that this first week of 2018 is going well for you! We’ve been enjoying the warmer weather with some pool time, as it has been a particularly humid summer so far the pool has been a good idea.

    Away From The Blue Blog

    • Thanks so much for the birthday wishes Mica!! I’m truly blessed to live another year!!
We are quite cold here this week, but not as bad as some states!!!

  • Nicole Mölders

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style.

  • Jamie Moore

That’s a super cute idea for a hat! I love it! I need to get back to sewing more often!

    • Doesn’t that seem so smart?? Then you can have 2 hats in one!!
      Thanks Jamie!!

  • Rebecca Saffer

I enjoyed reading about your December doings – it looks like you enjoyed your birth month tremendously! I am so happy to be reconnected to the internet – after today’s snow storm in NYC – I lost all phone, TV and internet connection for about 6 hours. Your blog post was one of the first I read because it is always so much fun!

    • You guys have certainly gotten hit with some crazy weather!! I might go berserk without my internet…..can you say addicted???
Thanks so much for joining in on the fun all of the time!! It truly is the highlight of my day to hear your thoughts!!!

  • Nicole Mölders

Wow the 3 of your, well actually the 4 of you (including your hubby) had quite a busy month. However, it looks like you had a lot of fun.

    • Thanks Nicole!! We usually have so much fun together—except when I’m bugging the heck out of them to smile more in the photos!!! LOL!!

  • I want to wish you a very happy birthday month Jodie! I love this December wrap up, and all of the beautiful pictures that you have incorporated into it. I especially love the picture from Colorado. You and your family look very beautiful and festive. Of course I wish you the very best for 2018. Good luck with the new format.

    • Thanks so much Elle!!
I always appreciate your wonderful support and positive thoughts!!

  • Happy New Year! Such a beautiful post! All the very best for 2018! x

  • Terri Webster Schrandt

Happy New Year Jodie, and you ended 2017 in style (of course). So many fun events you did! The choral looked like fun and reminding me I need to do that next year! Always looking forward to your posts in 2018.

    • Thanks Terri!! It’s always so fun to remember the month this way!!

  • What a fun and fabulous birth month you had, Jodie! I love your hand knitted sweater and 2 in 1 hat. Happy New Year 2018!

  • Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom

I always enjoy reading these posts. I am just like you, I just love a good birthday coupon!!! I got to the mall on my birthday month and redeem away! Lol!

    • That’s why I always end up buying lots in December!! But it’s fun!!
      Thanks Carrie!!

Great photos, looks like you all had a lot of fun! Also love the blue dress! Have a wonderful 2018!

  • Robert Filogomo

Great post. Again we were very busy. 🙂

    • Yes, but it didn’t seem as crazy as usual, now that we got to sleep in most days!!! XOXO

  • Cindy

What a great month of fun! I love reading your monthly journal. Those ice castles are calling my name. Dray’s 2 boys have been sick since they arrived for Christmas break – so we haven’t ventured out much. xo Cindy

    • That’s such a bummer about them being sick….but that used to happen to me all of the time–whenever I’d go visit my dad, I’d get sick!!
You’ll love the ice castles. You could always go up there to the outlets stores, and then meander over…..

  • Kellyann

What a wonderful month! I realized as I was reading this that if I had to write a sentence a day for a month it would probably have to be censored before publishing, lol! Frustration at work will do that to a person! But boy once school gets out everything is so much more positive. Wish I was retired!!!

    • That made me laugh, Kellyann!!
I will admit that I try to include only the positive things in my monthly post. There’s enough negative in this world without mine…ha ha!!

  • It sounds like you ended 2017 with a great month! I love these posts because it lets us see a little more about your life! Can’t wait to see what you are up to in 2018!

    • It’s always a fabulous month since it’s my birthday. My hubby really knows how to make me feel special!!
      Thanks Cheryl!

  • Happy New Year, Jodie! Thanks for sharing a look at your December. I agree that it always goes by in a flash. The choral concert at the basilica looks so beautiful and festive. I would love to attend something like that. What a treat for the ears and eyes! And I like that you have a holiday party with your book club. We started one earlier this year with friends, so we’ll have to do a party together next year!

    • The funny thing about the basilica is that I’ve lived her for over 30 years, and we just found out about it this summer!! It’s such a historic place and such a sight for the senses!!
      Thanks Liz!!

  • Every time I read this, I am thinking, that sounds great! But also a lot of work! Love to read it though!

    • I thought that at first too, Nancy. But considering I’m on the computer every day, I just add a line daily, and then by the end of the month it’s done. It’s also been so nice to read back over the month once it’s done!!
If you want to try a month and see, you only have 3 days to go back and remember for January???

  • Laura

I love the sweater you knit! It’s gorgeous! And the two in one hat is such a great idea! And I am sure it is extra warm!

    • I’m so glad I’ve gotten back into knitting—it’s such a creative outlet for me and I’d been missing it!!
      Thanks Laura!

  • It actually seems that you had a more relaxed month this time, with the focus being on you and your family. Yay you!!
Loved the sweater and two in one hat!

    • I think you’re right Darlene!! Maybe I’m finally getting smarter?? (Nah…that can’t be it..ha ha)
