Denim Vest for the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s: Under a Jacket
If you’re anything like me, you always think of a jacket as something to wear “over” other pieces. Well how about wearing it “under” a vest? I saw this idea being done in these last winter months with a fur vest, so I decided to use this same concept with a denim vest. I’d have to consider a denim vest as somewhat a classic and versatile piece of clothing. It’s a great topper over just about anything, and since it’s denim, it goes with everything! Of course, there are many different varieties available if you don’t already have one in your closet—you can get them in different colors, prints, washes or lengths!
Quote of the day: “You are enough. You are so enough. It’s unbelievable how enough you are.” Unknown
The three of us are perfect examples that denim vests are not all created the same. Mine is a dark wash that’s mid length, Nancy’s is a medium wash in a longer silhouette, and mom’s is a short version that has a distressed look! Preparing for this post gave me a thought—since most denim vests have the vertical seams down the front which tends to elongate the vest and give it shape, the vest might be great to wear over those bomber jackets which tend to be shapeless?

I won this stunning bracelet from Dawn’s blog awhile ago–there are still some for sale if you’re interested!!
Nancy’s sandals are the epitome of summer in my mind. They are colorful with an interesting stone on the front—they have a pattern on the cork wedge portion and from the top view the design even looks like a butterfly !

Since mom’s vest is shorter, I wanted to show it with longer length garments beneath it, but somehow it looks wonky to me? I picked out this vest for mom when we were thrifting—I think it was a kid’s or juniors because the size was larger than her normal size, yet fit her great!! Of course I had to mix in some brooches around the vest pocket button area for her required bling!
