I’ve always been one of those “A place for everything and everything in its place” kind of people. That’s why the subject of kitchen clutter cleaners just tickles my fancy.
Quote of the day: “Rarely are opportunities presented to you in the perfect way, in a nice little box with a yellow bow on top…Opportunities, the good ones, they’re messy and confusing and hard to recongnize. They’re risky. They challenge you.” Susan Wojcicki
Of course, one way to counteract clutter is to have enough space to hide things in cabinets and drawers, but that’s not always realistic.
So, I wanted to share some of the easy ways and budget oriented ideas that I use as clutter cleaners in our kitchen.
Insider tip: If you are looking for the most budget oriented kitchen clutter cleaners, make sure to check your local secondhand stores. And remember to think outside of the box when shopping. Items can be used in a variety of ways, not just how they were intended to be used.
I love organizing and decorating a home and have other articles about this subject
2 Concepts for Clutter Cleaners
Besides stuffing everything in cabinets or drawers, there are 2 different ways to tackle kitchen clutter.
1-Get it off the countertops.
There are a couple of ways to achieve this and it is all dependent on your kitchen set up and what you are trying to organize.
Insider tip: Having enough lighting helps too. Now you can add your own undercounter lighting without electricity.
You can hang things on the walls or from underneath the cabinets. The possibilites are endless with the advances of velcro and command hooks.
Insider tip: I’ve used both velcro strips and picture hanging strips in the past for hanging a wide variety of items both inside and outside my houses.
2-Make it decorative.
Obviously, there are some things that need to be on the countertops. Or at least you want them there for convenience.
But it doesn’t have to look cluttered or ugly. Make it decorative and stylish with some easy upgrades or changes.
I’ll break down the 4 easy kitchen clutter cleaners I’ve used in our new kitchen and give you other suggestions as well.
I share many of these products in my emails when I first discover them, so I hope you sign up to be part of the family. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Clutter Cleaners Off the Countertops
Hanging items is the easiest way to clear the clutter off of the countertops.
One thing we put into practice was to get rid of that bulky knife block and use a magnetic knife holder.
Insider tip: There are a variety of these magnetic knife holders in both wood and steel. We used velcro to attach it to the wall instead of nailing it in.
If you worry about how it holds up over time, we have had our wood magnetic knife holder for over 8 years and the wood is starting to look worn. Then again, we don’t clean it often which could be a factor.
There are a variety of other types of magnetic kitchen organizers available depending on your needs.
I’m showing a couple in the widget below or check out Amazon too.
This would include a way to store spices, wraps, utensils and more.
Insider tip: Just because the organizer is magnetic doesn’t mean you couldn’t attach it to a non-magnetic surface or wall. Using those Velcro strips makes them work for any surface.
Decorative Options for Clutter
For those items that you need or want to sit on your countertops, there are ways to make it look like part of the plan.
Having a color scheme in the kitchen can be helpful and finding decorative items is key.
Baskets
That food that is on the countertop needs to be housed in a nice way. I’ve always used a clear bowl (so I can see what is in it) until I recently saw this basket advertised on TikTok.
It comes with 2 or 3 tiers and in a variety of colors. Mine just arrived yesterday, and I love how it holds more produce and makes it easier to see.
Insider tip: These baskets are reminiscent of the 3 tier stands used for desserts back in the day. If you have one of those, that could be a great option.
Just because the photo shows the tiered basket with produce in it, doesn’t mean it couldn’t be used for seasonings, snacks, breads, or even cleaning products. Use your imagination.
Canisters
Canisters are also budget oriented kitchen clutter cleaners because they can combine everyday items to look cohesive.
Insider tip: Think about the products you use every day, no matter what that may be, like coffee, tea, collagen, etc. Those are the perfect items for canisters.
BTW, there are stacking canisters to use up vertical space instead of horizontal space.
I found a bunch of great canister sets in the widget below or there are a ton on Amazon.
Open Mouth Containters
Wide mouth vases can function as holder for a variety of kitchen items.
It’s just like you shouldn’t catorgorize your clothing, you shouldn’t categorize your home decor pieces either.
These items could easily work for clutter cleaners
- Vases
- Mugs
- Pitchers
- Bowls
There are many wide mouth vases on Amazon but check out some of the beauties in the widget below too.
Insider tip: These are more fabulous items to pick up when thrifting. If ordering online, make sure to check the measurements.
