Exploit Your Jewelry Box: How to Wear Multiple Necklaces

I figured that if we have wonderful jewelry, why not learn how to wear multiple necklaces together to use more of what we already have?
For my example, I wore both a necklace and scarf together as an idea to show how we can wear two different kinds of accessories as one. Lesley went above and beyond with her multiple necklaces.

Quote of the day: “The most reliable way to change your life is by not changing your entire life.
If you try to change everything all at once, you will quickly find yourself pulled back into the same patterns as before. But if you merely focus on changing one specific habit and work on it until it becomes part of your normal day, you will find your life changes naturally as a side effect.
Improve the whole by mastering one thing.” James Clear

I’m sure most of us are very comfortable with putting on a necklace. In the past, I’ve marveled at how Lesley layers her necklaces so effortlessly. Needless to say, when I’ve tried it in the past, it was a huge mess. Don’t believe me? Check out this post on Instagram from over a year ago.
So I studied and kept trying and trying. In fact, I posted a video with three options earlier this year on Instagram where I liked the end results much better.

Thus came this theme for the blog about how to wear multiple necklaces. I figured with all of us weighing in on different options, you could certainly get a ton of inspiration. In fact, my blogging friend, Sally, has another example here you will want to check out.
Remember, you get a mulligan every day, so don’t give up.

Charlotte’s Evening Outfit

This evening we attended a concert so it was the perfect time to get dressed up and experiment with how to layer multiple necklaces. With this concept, my mom concentrated on finding a solid colored top to wear.

Since Charlotte has been more comfortable in pants lately, she pulled out a pair of white pants that have a fun decoration at the bottom hem. White heels complete the look along with a ruffle purse.

Insider tip: Do you always feel like the small purses just aren’t big enough for all your stuff?? An event like this is the perfect time to pull them out. The trick?? Take a bigger bag with you if you really need it, and then leave it in the car. You’d be surprised at all of the non-essentials that can stay in the car.

Rationale on How to Wear Multiple Necklaces

For this project, my mom started with the white circle necklace that she has had for ages. Yet she admitted that it seldom gets worn. Since it’s made of many white pieces, she decided to wear it with 2 different lengths of pearl necklaces.
The shortest pearl necklace is one recently gifted to use by a small business called Maison de Camille. I bet most of us have at least one pearl necklace yet most of the time we “save” them (for what I’m not sure). Let’s try to remember that each day is a wonderful gift and wear the fun things no matter if you’re just staying at home!!

Then the longest shell necklace is from a Caribbean cruise that Charlotte was on over 15 years ago.

Insider tip: Do you have a necklace that might seem outdated? This idea of layering your necklaces could be the way to make it seem more modern.

The takeaway for how to wear multiple necklaces?? Concentrate on the same color or metals for them. For instance, if you have a couple of gold chain necklaces, try wearing them together. Or if you have more than one red necklace, maybe they would play well together.

Insider tip: If you have trouble with the necklaces tangling when you try to wear more than one at a time, then there is a clasp that helps with this.

Ruffle Blouse

As I was discussing in the grandma-style post recently, wearing a top with modern details can update your look tremendously. This ruffle blouse Charlotte is wearing was one she purchased when we worked with Fashom.
Here is the blog post detailing the 5 items Charlotte got in her clothing box, and which ones she bought.

Insider tip: I have compared 3 different companies that have this service including Stitch Fix, Nordstrom Trunk club, and Fashom. Fashom is the most budget-friendly one. If you want to try it my link will give you $20 to use on anything you want to purchase. I would suggest reading the tips I wrote about in order to make the experience for you successful. It may require a little work on your part, but it’s worth it in the end.

White pants for older women

Now, of course, if you love the look of layered necklaces, but don’t want to try it with what you have, you can always purchase them already layered.
But I hope you try this because it makes a fun statement for any day!

BTW, one of my blogger friends just showcased an outfit with some layering necklaces. Go say hi to Sally for another option to exploit your own jewelry box.

My hope is that you get ideas and inspirations from Charlotte, Lesley and myself. It’s not about copying what we wear, but about using what you already have and updating items along the way.
Most of all it’s getting us to think differently and dare I say, have fun?
