Finding Great Walking Shoes for Women with Walking Cradles
Great walking shoes for women is something that becomes so important the older we get. The only thing missing from the quote is something to make your feet happy. Of course, maybe that’s because the author of the quote is male, and doesn’t have as many issues finding the best walking shoes.
Quote of the day: “The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” Allan K. Chalmers
I know so many women are on the hunt for great walking shoes so when I met up with the designer and marketer from Walking Cradles, I knew this was going to be a match made in heaven. The motto at Walking Cradles is that women want shoes that look great along with the fact that they should fit and feel great.
The best part is that there is such a variety of sizes from 4-13 along with an incredible selection of widths. I included a diagram at the bottom of the post of how these sneakers we are showcasing are constructed. I bet it’s the layers that make them a joy to walk in and really lightweight. And there’s a wonderful discount code included below too, that includes free shipping and even a coupon for a future purchase.

We traveled up to Loveland for this day and visited the Chapungu Sculture Gardens to try out these beauties and put them to the walking test. Loveland is about an hour north of Denver and is well known for it’s Valentine Re-Mailing Program. Any person across the world can send their valentines to Loveland, Colorado, to be hand-stamped with a cachet and verse, and a specially designed postal cancellation.
What we learned while we were visiting is Lovelend is also home to many sculptures both here and at the Benson Sculpture Garden which you will see soon. Heck, there were sculptures adorning the entire town which we discovered while we explored.
Jodie’s (50+) Outfit
I chose the Orleans Sneakers that have this subtle snake print and are available in this wine color along with slate grey, black, olive and navy.

Why I Wore This Outfit
I wanted to show that just because you’re wearing sneakers doesn’t mean you can’t look stylish. That’s why I grabbed this sheer top. I wore this same top over a dress this last winter, so I consider it very versatile. And since it’s still warm outside, the sheerness was perfect for the weather.
The burgundy cami under the black sheer top matched with the wine colored shoes. And then my white jeans seemed to lighten up the outfit.

How You Could Change This Outfit
Even though the sneakers are wine colored, I think they work with almost any color. And the wine color is such a great fall color. For example, if you don’t embrace wearing white jeans after Labor Day, then I think that black jeans or even grey jeans would work also.

Interesting Tidbit
Even though I am in no way a minimalist when it comes to my outfits, I have been leaving off the necklaces quite a bit this summer. Even though it wasn’t super hot this day, I thought because of the embroidery on the sheer top, that maybe I could go without. So I made up for the “no necklace” with blingy earrings and purse. I will admit, that it’s not always easy to change out habits like this, but if I can do it, so can you!
A thought about these sneakers. I always think of sneakers as so comfortable but I have to admit I just gave away my rose gold pair. The material on my heel kept rubbing and wouldn’t get comfy. So I ended up deciding it wasn’t worth keeping them. But this pair? These were so soft from the beginning. That’s the way sneakers should be.
Nancy’s (70+) Outfit
Nancy chose the hi-top Osmond sneaker in the slate grey that also comes in black, olive and navy.

Why Nancy Wore This Outfit
I told Nancy to think of these hi-top sneakers like ankle boots when she’s styling them. So you can wear them any time that you’d also wear booties. If you’re wearing them with skinny jeans, you can roll those up too in order to see the entire shoe.
The red jeans she wore are lightweight, so a great transitional item into the cooler weather. And I love that Nancy wore a silky top with the jeans. It’s very modern to mix materials like this instead of always combining a knit material with a knit material.

How You Could Change This Outfit
I remember when I thought that red jeans were too bright and young for me. It was when all of the celebrities were wearing them about 6-7 years ago, and I thought I’d never have them on my body. But then a patient actually said that anyone could wear red jeans, and I decided to take the plunge.
That’s why I was happy that Nancy tried the trend too. For those of you who aren’t sure about it, then a burgundy jean would still add in some color but be a little more subtle.

Interesting Tidbit
Nancy usually wears a cami with this top because of the cut out in the back in order to cover her bra. Another option would be to wear a lace band, that our local boutique sells, called Mod Loops. Then it’s not as much fabric for those women that get too hot with a camisole.
Charlotte’s (80+) Outfit
My mom chose the Orion sneaker with the zipper detail in navy which also comes in black and slate grey.

Why Charlotte Wore This Outfit
Since I know how much my mom loves to match her shoes to her pants, I figured that blue jeans would be perfect. Besides, jeans and sneakers seem like the most obvious combination for most of us. I did ask my mom to wear no show socks so you could see skin between the jeans and shoes. Personally, I don’t wear socks with many of my shoes, but my mom isn’t a huge fan. I have seen some socks coming back in style lately, but right now, it’s still more trendy to not show your socks.
I purchased this tunic from Trendz because it’s so interesting. However, once I got home I realized it was a little overpowering on me, so I gifted it to my mother. The addition of the pink scarf was a way to help add some color to her face.

I realize that most of us wouldn’t go hiking in a dressy tunic and scarf. However, a tunic blouse like this is almost casual and dressy at the same time. I think the A-line shape of it makes it a great shape to wear even with leggings. Sometimes a tunic top doesn’t have much shaping and can be unflattering. Whereas this tunic top almost looks like a short dress.
So imagine this tunic with navy leggings and these sneakers. It’d be one of those outfits that could take you from a day of running errands, to dinner out with just a change of shoes.

Interesting Tidbit
My mom bought these jeans at a consignment store a couple of years ago. You can see they were about 3 or 4 inches longer at the time so she always wore the jeans with heels. Because of the zipper at the bottom hem, they can’t be shortened normally. So she had to take away the extra fabric above the lower panel. If you look hard, you can see that seam right below her knee. But you’d never have noticed it if I hadn’t pointed it out!

Tips & Tricks
We actually wore our Walking Cradle sneakers on our Alaskan cruise because of the slip resistant tread and comfort factor. All three of us were VERY impressed with the fact we could wear them all day, and our feet still felt great.
I love that sneakers have come a long way over the years. Even though most of us think of them as workout footwear, it’s nice that they are becoming more mainstream. Just like I wore sneakers with a dress to the farmer’s market this summer, it’s a look that is gaining ground.
And this Walking Cradles Company is quite impressive in more ways than one. Everything they do revolves around the company mantra, #ItsAMatterOfFit which I believe is everyone’s goal when they get new shoes. When I was talking to Lisa and Jamie from the company, they actually said that most women haven’t had their foot measured in years. I’m guilty. You? And that’s one of the reasons for a bad fitting shoe.
The other impressive news is Walking Cradles is partnering with Soles4Souls – a charity that works to “Wear Out Poverty” by providing gently used shoes, job opportunities and more to poverty-stricken women and children around the world. Walking Cradles will donate $1 to #soles4souls for every Metro Collection shoe sold, because they believe that everyone around the world deserves a good pair of shoes. You may not think that $1 is much, but Soles4Souls can ship a pair of shoes anywhere in the world for $1. That means this contribution will give one person a pair of shoes.

The Facts
This post is a collaboration with Walking Cradles. I feel so blessed to be able to work with companies that I think you will appreciate and enjoy as much as I do. Thanks for supporting the companies that let us continue our antics! And don’t forget to use the code, JODIE20, when you order from Walking Cradles to get 20% off your order until Oct. 31, 2018.
I learned about Walking Cradles from my blogging friend, Cathy. Then I noticed that Lisa who works for Walking Cradles was in Denver in June, so we were able to meet up with her group on June 30. The company is in St Louis, MO, and we are hoping to go out to visit sometime next year. Learning about how the shoes are made and what goes into the design process has been extremely interesting.
And if this kind of information tickles your fancy, this is the construction of the Metro Collection shoes. This is exactly why they were so great comfortable walking shoes for women for our walk around this park and in Alaska.

Right now there are issues posting to Pinterest from my blog. But you can easily go to my Pinterest account and pin whichever (or all) to your own boards from there. Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully it’ll get resolved soon!
