How to Wear Pink in the Fall
Wearing pink in the fall may not be the norm or how we were raised. And while I definitely think we can wear ANY color, any time of the year, I also think there are small ways to make it seem more season appropriate.
Quote of the day: “I am a believer that color affects people’s moods.” Lilly Pulitzer
I couldn’t agree more with this quote by Lilly. Since we are such visual animals, it only makes sense that the colors around us make us feel a certain way. So how does pink make you feel? I’ll give you my opinion below.
The whole idea of this week was to figure out how each of us would wear pink for the cooler months. My mom, Charlotte, went head to toe in different shades of it. And Lesley added darker colors to her darker pink. But also check out other color combinations with pink that we’ve worn in the past.
Jodie’s Ideas for Pink in the Fall
Truthfully I never used to be a pink girl. When I was growing up, I felt like pink was a girly color. And that was the last thing I wanted to be. Maybe it was the times, or maybe it was the fact I was trying to go into a male dominated career.
So there was very little of this color in my closet until the last couple of years of my working career. But now? Now I have quite a bit of the color from this baby pink to the brighter pinks.
In fact, I love how there is a hashtag for #BossBabe. The idea that women can be as effective as men in any job field is something to be celebrated. Even if that woman is wearing pink!!
So much to talk about with these accessories. First off, I need to thank one of my readers, Judy, for her lovely gift box of scarves. She was purging hers and offered them to me. This pink and navy scarf was one of them.
The leopard earrings are from a mother/daughter small business called Alison + Aubrey. These are from last year before I started working with them as an ambassador. They have wonderful, inexpensive pieces and the best thing is your purchases support a small business.
I’m also showing a barrette that I purchased when Charming Charlies was going out of business. After working with Lilla Rose and then having my hair stylist help me know how to use them better, I’ve been having fun with barrettes. Even though my hair is short, I think there’s many ways to incorporate them.
The Moto Jacket
If there’s one item you can buy to modernize your fall wardrobe, I’d say it’s a moto jacket. Granted, I have a few, so I’m a bit biased. And this one from Peach, is perfect for the Arizona weather. It’s lightweight and machine washable and really goes with everything.
Peep Toe Booties
Let me just say that peep toe booties are one of those things I used to question. Why would you want a bootie with your toes open? Or as my mom says, if it’s cold enough for boots, you’d want your toes covered.
But I bought these a couple of years ago as an experiment. You know, that never say never thing. And I really like them. Not that I wore them a ton in Colorado, but I have a feeling they will work almost all year long out here in Arizona. Maybe I was channeling to move to Arizona long before we really did?
Showing it Off
As for the back view, I am only human. I saw these photos and almost had negative thoughts. It’s human nature, I’m sure. But then I had to give myself a little pep talk just like each of us needs from time to time.
I would like to point out that you certainly don’t see my bra lines even in this bodycon dress. That would be thanks to my Shapeez bra that I wear almost daily. I have been wearing the Shortee one this whole time in Arizona, and I plan to buy a couple of more. Sure, the advantage of not seeing my bra lines is nice. But the true draw is actually how comfortable it is. Even at the end of the day, it’s not a race to get it off and breathe.
