Interesting Scarf Styles with Ovcio’s Featherlight Scarves

I appreciate each and every share. Thank you!

Considering all three of us love and wear scarves throughout the year, I thought it was extremely appropriate to showcase Ovcio’s featherlight scarves. Not worn just one way or for one occasion, but each of us styled 2 different scarves for a casual and then for a fancy event.

Scarves are one of the biggest struggles for women when I ask them about accessories. Women worry that we aren’t tying it “right” or it has to be more complicated. And in reality, there are hundreds of ways to make your scarf part of an outfit.
While we will include more interesting ways to style these amazing Ovcio featherlight scarves, I will also say that it’s important to remember you don’t have to make it complicated to wear them. These scarves are so beautiful even draped around your neck.

Insider tip: My post about 25+ ways to wear a scarf is one of my most popular. The options of #2, 3, 16, and 17 are ones that are very simple and would work marvelously with these Ovcio featherlight scarves if you want to keep it straightforward.

Ovcio Featherlight Scarves

First, let me give you some of the history and facts regarding Ovcio featherlight scarves.

These scarves are made from Mongolian cashmere. Sure, you’ve heard about cashmere and maybe even have a cashmere sweater or scarf in your collection. But there are definite levels of the quality of cashmere. You can read about Ovcio’s story on their site here, but suffice it to say, you can feel that this is the softest cashmere you’ve ever felt when you first take the scarf out of its carrying case.

Spoil your neck

Heck, they even have a 30-day guarantee that if you don’t think it’s soft as a kitten, they will take it back, no questions asked.

If you have been following me for a long time, then you know I am a knitter and appreciate the feel and lure of textiles. This yarn is 100% all-natural cashmere fiber and woven in 300 yarns. In fact, each scarf comes with a small jar of Mongolian fleece, so you can see it in its pure form.

The Ovcio featherlight scarves are huge! They span 78″ x 35″ yet you can fold and roll it to be incredibly manageable since it’s SO airy and lightweight. They do have a couple of different types of scarves on their site also, but this post will concentrate on the featherlight ones.

The cost varies from $139 -$149 because these are truly quality pieces. In fact, I can tell you firsthand, that if I compare one of Ovcio’s featherlight scarves to my cheaper Amazon ones, you can tell the difference blindfolded.
Is it worth the extra money? I would say yes, especially as a gift for someone you love OR if you tend to think other scarves are scratchy. You would never think the Ovcio scarf is scratchy.

Even if you aren’t interested in the Ovcio featherlight scarves, I hope you’ll pin these interesting scarf styles so you will have them at your fingertips. You can practice these style ideas with any longer scarves from your closet.
All three of us think scarves are magical because they can be worn so many different ways, and they will always fit. Even if you gain 10 pounds, haha!

Insider tip: I would consider these scarves the ABSOLUTE PERFECT scarf for traveling. It will take you from the airport to any destination and can be used for anything and everything.

Fancy Scarf Styles with Ovcio Featherlight Scarves

Let me start showcasing how the three of us made these Ovcio featherlight scarves work with a fancy outfit. The advantage of any scarf is how it transcends the categories and thus can be added to any kind of outfit.

I had to laugh that we all wore dresses and our solid-colored Ovcio featherlight scarves for the fancy outfits. If that isn’t great minds thinking alike, then I don’t know what is!

Do you like comparisons? If so, I included photos of the outfit with and without the scarf.

Charlotte with Scarf Decoration Around her Neck

Charlotte chose the red featherlight scarf because it’s a wonderful color for her complexion. In fact, this example shows how adding the scarf can be the perfect way to wear a dress that isn’t as flattering for you in its coloring.

One of the comments Charlotte said is she loves these scarves because not only are they warm and soft but also clingy. Unlike silk scarves that tend to move around, these are nice in that they hold onto other knits wonderfully.

How Charlotte styled the scarf: The scarf is folded in half width-wise, and then Charlotte threaded the scarf clip through one end.
Then she looped the scarf around her neck a couple of times and tucked the ends in the back of the dress.

Scarf and scarf clip

Insider tip: A scarf clip not only weighs down a scarf to keep it in place but also adds extra decoration to any look. You don’t see these clips much except I found a couple on Amazon here and here. But don’t forget you can also repurpose many other items to act as a scarf clip.
Here’s a couple of ideas: a ring, a brooch, or a necklace pendant.

Lesley Using the Scarf as Adornment Over her Dress

Lesley commented that the fact the Ovcio featherlight scarves are so lightweight makes them perfect for Arizona.
Even though you might think it’s always hot here, it really is chilly many days in the winter and spring. Besides, we all know how the AC can make it cold when we go inside so they can be great for summertime too.

Therefore Lesley wanted to cover her shoulders yet still make the scarf an interesting aspect of the outfit.

How Lesley styled the scarf: Lesly folded the scarf in half width-wise and then draped it over her shoulders so the ends were equal length. She overlapped the ends in front of her bust twice and then twisted the remaining portion of the scarf ends so they would be thinner.
She fastened the ends together in the back. This can be done by knotting the ends or using a clear elastic band.
This makes the scarf into a bolero or shrug style topper and covers your bare arms. You can finish the look by fanning the scarf on your shoulders and in the back. She didn’t do that in these examples but she did in the video I’ll be sharing on Instagram.

Jodie with Arm Coverage for a Sleeveless Dress

The fact that many fancy dresses are sleeveless always amazes me. I remember thinking when we moved to Arizona, that finally, I would be able to wear these sleeveless winter dresses without worrying about layering.
Well, that didn’t happen since it really does get chilly here in the winter months.

Therefore, I was inspired by a request by my friend Sally, who asked if I could make a scarf to add sleeves to an item. I have showcased this trick on my Instagram in the past here and wanted to showcase it here with my Ovcio featherlight scarf.
It’s not something I see others styling much, yet it’s not hard to do.

I chose a red dress to wear with the fuchsia scarf so they wouldn’t match but be a beautiful bright outfit together. Since this Ovcio scarf is wonderfully long, this trick gives you 3 different options of how to wear it after you’ve created the sleeves.

How to style the scarf as sleeves: Drape the scarf around your neck so both ends are equal in length. Then take the two corners on one side and tie them in a knot. Do this on the other side also. Take one knotted side and slip it under the shoulder part of the dress and repeat on the other side.
Now you need to adjust the amount of scarf along the back of your neck to make the “sleeves” the perfect length for you. (This also means you can make them 3/4 length so they don’t fall into your food if you’re eating).

Insider tip: Depending on how much extra material you have at the neckline, you can do 3 things with it. I’ve shown all three examples above.
1-Leave it hanging down the back.
2-Pull it over your head to the front and tuck in it the front of the dress to make it look like ruffles.
3-Twist the extra material as a circle around your neck to look like a scarf.

Plaid scarves

Wearing our Ovcio Featherlight Scarves for Casual

The one aspect about beautiful scarves like these Ovcio’s featherlight scarves is the fact, you might think you need to save them for “special” occasions. I talk about this all of the time on my blog because I believe that every day is special.
Having lost many dear people in my lifetime, makes me realize that life is too short to “save” things.

Insider tip: It’s human nature that when we look good, we feel better. So try to wear all of the things you love even if you’re only going to the grocery store. You’ll never be sorry that you look nice for the day.

Not purposefully, but the three of us styled our plaid Ovcio featherlight scarves for our casual looks. This is not to say that these plaid scarves couldn’t be worn for fancy occasions. In fact, they have a contrasting color on the edging that is beautiful when you are examining it up close.

Even though these scarves are large coming in at 79×35″, they aren’t overwhelming to style because they are so thin. As a reference all of us are under 5’3″ tall.

Charlotte Belting the Scarf

Charlotte is always cold like I am, and prefers to have her arms covered. Therefore, she used her plaid Ovcio scarf to act as a kimono over her blue t-shirt.

One of the advantages of these plaid scarves is they can look different depending on how you fold them. For my mom’s example, you don’t notice the light blue and grey panels as compared to if you left them longer like in the photos on Ovcio’s site.

How Charlotte styled the scarf: She folded the scarf in half width-wise and draped it over her shoulders with both ends hanging in the front. Then she grabbed a belt and fastened it around her waist to keep the ends in place.
You will notice in the photo of the rearview that the belt is only over the scarf in the front. If you wanted to catch the scarf in the belt for the back portion too, you would need to increase the fold so it’s only 1/3 folded in.

Lesley’s Style with the One Shoulder Look

Lesley commented that these scarves are so wonderfully lightweight that they are a delight to wear and style. While it’s easy to do a simple wrap around the neck and go, Lesley wanted to put a little pop into this look with her plaid scarf.

Therefore, she wore it as a sash across her body. This adds interest to the solid-colored sweater without creating a lot of bulk.

How Lesley styled the scarf: Fold the scarf into thirds width-wise. Drape it over one shoulder bringing the ends across the body from the front and the back. Where the ends meet at the hip area, twist the ends, and then secure with a clear or colored band. Heck, you could even use a brooch.
Finish off the look by opening the folds of the scarf over the shoulder and in front of the body if you prefer. (Lesley is showing both unfolded vs. keeping it folded).

Jodie Wearing the Scarf as a Skirt

I have to admit that I was inspired by an Instagram friend, Sunny for this idea. She wore her scarf knotted in the front as a sarong over her leggings.

This may seem incredibly silly, yet it’s not the first time I’ve talked about how to transition your gym wear so you can run errands without looking like you still belong at the gym.
While this idea of adding clothing items on top of your workout outfit is easier in the winter, that’s why these scarves are perfect even on the warmer days being they are so lightweight.

How I styled this: I folded the scarf in half width-wise and wrapped it around my waist. I took the ends and tied them twice in a knot on the side of my body to keep it in place.

Since there are many times we go to our pilates classes in the middle of the day, yet have to run errands afterward, this will be one of my go-to looks around town.
