Jambu Shoes for Style & Casual Comfort & Giveaway
Quote of the day: “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Charles Darwin
If you’ve ever heard of Jambu shoes then you might realize why I picked this quote for this post. Because if it’s one thing I hear over and over from my older friends, it’s the fact they they need comfortable shoes. Personally, I’m very lucky with my feet. Sure, I have bunions, but they don’t hurt or prevent me from wearing most shoes. So I’ve never researched the “comfortable” shoe companies.
When Jambu Shoes reached out to me, I will be truthful and say I wasn’t sure I’d like their offerings. I know, I know, I’m a shoe snob. But you’ve heard me say over and over how I think they can make such a difference in an outfit. So imagine my surprise when I saw great looking shoes on their site.
Let me first say that they are giving a discount to my readers below along with a fabulous giveaway. And secondly, you wouldn’t believe the tread on these shoes!! If you live anywhere there is snow or ice, then these shoes might end up being your go-to shoes. Now only do they have memory foam on the inside, but they are water resistant and have tread on the soles to keep you on your feet.
We wore these exact same shoes dressed up too.
Jodie’s (50+) Outfit: Let me start with my Jambu Shoes. I chose the Canary shoe in what they call Plum suede. It’s also available in black leather.
I know when I was asking about these shoes, I was worried that the plum would be purple. But instead it’s more of a burgundy in my eyes. If you compare them to Nancy’s boots below, they are definitely brighter and maybe a tidge darker.
For those of you who say they can’t wear heels, I was extremely surprised that these didn’t seem as high as you would think. There is a 1 inch platform, so really the heel height is less than 2.5″. Maybe that was why I could walk all day in them and have no issues.
The other great factor is the ankle strap. I’ve talked before how the ankle strap makes shoes much easier to walk in because your foot doesn’t move as much. Well these ankle straps are fastened by velcro, so they are easy to get in and out of. Let’s just say, they may be my airport shoes from now on.
For my casual outfit featuring these Jambu shoes, I wanted to wear my newly thrifted camo jeans.
Ever since the three of us have featured the camo print on this blog, I’ve really come to love it. So when I found these jeans at our local thrift store, Act 2, I figured I had to have them. You can see how I wore them for our #thriftedchicstylechallenge for August.
I’m not just showing you more camo jeans just for the fun of it, but I actually think they are so fun. Most camo prints are a very subtle color and print, so you could style some print mixing with them easily. For example this pair doesn’t seem that much different than a pair of blue jeans. Or there is always the traditional green camo pair that are perfect for the fall and winter.
For my accessories for the outfit, I did try to keep things more subtle. I figured there was a lot going on with the mesh top, and camo jeans. So I wore a smaller green necklace, very small earrings and a burgundy bracelet.
I don’t think the shoes are necessarily the star of the show, but they certainly made me feel very rock starish for some reason.
Nancy’s (60+) Outfit: Nancy has a pair of burgundy tall boots that she loves from years ago, so her choice of the Jambu shoes were these Amal ankle boots.
She figured since she wore the burgundy tall boots so much, then it’d be nice to have a burgundy ankle boot too. The fun aspect of this pair is the different textures on the back portion of the bootie.
These booties have a heel, but since it’s less than 2 inches (with the half inch platform), they are certainly easy to walk in, even if it’s for some distance.
You wouldn’t believe the bottom sole of these ankle boots. They have a recycled rubber sole just like mine, that are going to be amazing for the ice and snow. I think they are better than most of our other boots in our closets.
Nancy’s casual outfit started with a pair of leggings so she could show off the fun design on the back portion of the boots.
This tunic is one she wore for our accessories post recently, and since it matched so nicely, she decided to give it a whirl here too.
Since there was print on the boots and print on Nancy’s tunic, we added only a small necklace. But the earrings are a good size and bring out the burgundy color from the tunic and footwear.
I realize most of us don’t wear booties with sleeveless tops, because if it’s cold enough for ankle boots, then it’s cold enough for sleeves. But like I discussed when we wore our ankle boots with our summer skirts, it’s a very modern look to mix and match the seasonal items. And I think they could be a smart choice for the transitional times. For example, this one would even work as a duster if you needed one. Or this one has such an incredible design, that it’d be gorgeous over a pencil skirt too.
Charlotte’s (70+) Outfit: Like I talked about in the Fall Trends update from a couple of weeks ago, OTK boots are really gaining traction among women of all ages.
These over-the-knee boots have a wedge heel and the top isn’t extremely over the knee. This could be the perfect starter if you’ve never tried an OTK boot before?
The only point I would make is the circumference of the shaft of the boot. You can see that my mom was able to even get them on over her skinny jeans. But I know some women have wider calves and legs, and this might not work for those cases. The leg portion does stretch, but I can see how it wouldn’t work for everyone.
This casual outfit is one that I would consider perfect for running errands or having lunch with friends.
It’s been very stylish to tuck our jeans into our boots for the last couple of seasons. And I don’t see that it’ll probably change this year either. I would like to point out that the jeans are a subtle print while the sweater is stripes, so my mom is mixing her prints again.
And if you have yet to try out a pair of skinny jeans, don’t let the name fool you. They are fabulous for women of every size and shape. If for nothing else, having a pair of skinny jeans like these, can make it so much easier to tuck your jeans into your taller boots. Of course you don’t have to stick with blue jeans. You could experiment with olive green, black or a print version.
And even though my mom wanted to wear a shirt under the sweater, I twisted her arm to wear a scarf instead. I thought the bright colors of the scarf, were a nice mix to the color scheme. Besides the fact is that the scarf is another print. Wowza, that’s 3 prints for mom, and doesn’t it look fabulous?
